In this episode, we are going to take a deep dive into the 4 negatives of being a part of a social media engagement pod, especially on LinkedIn:  1. Itโ€™s only half the battle: The posts that get the pod treatment can still be downgraded when reviewed by the LinkedIn bots (if itโ€™s determined to be spam) and if a LinkedIn โ€œhumanโ€ decides to diminish its placement. 2. Itโ€™s not always genuine: The worst pods can act like performance-enhancing steroids, juicing your numbers as an artificial attempt to inflate quality scores. 3. Superficial engagement can hurt your credibility: A simple comment (for commentโ€™s sake) may not add much value to your LinkedIn community. A comment that says simply โ€œI agree. Thanks for sharing!โ€ is akin to all of the Instagram comments you see with flame emojis or โ€œlove this pic!โ€ with heart emojis. 4. LinkedIn could react: The LinkedIn team probably doesnโ€™t love the idea of pods, so thereโ€™s a good chance that they will take (or are already taking) measures to diminish the ROI of being part of one.
