189: Declutter the Content You're Consuming Online (social media, podcasts, etc) + The Way You Consume It
Do you ever feel overwhelmed, like there are a million things to do, but you're not sure where that feeling is actually coming from? Of course, a busy life can make us feel this way, but I think our brains are more overwhelmed than ever because of the amount of information we are able to take in thanks to the internet and social media.
If you find yourself scrolling through social media, unsure of why you even opened the app in the first place, this is for you! "Consuming content" isn't a bad thing - there is great content out there in the world in the form of longer form content, like books and podcasts, and shorter form content such as an Instagram post. We can learn and grow and get great value from these things. The problem comes from the volume of it along with the addictive nature of the apps. Our brains simply weren't made to take in this much information in such short periods of time.
Today we're working on decluttering our podcast feeds, our social media, and our email inboxes. Of course, we'll put a heavy emphasis on reflecting on what our goals and values are when we do consume content online before we start decluttering. We'll also talk about phone boundaries and how our habits play a big role in how much content we consume.
What I'm most excited about is the challenge I created to go along with this episode! We start the challenge as a community on July 17th, but you can also do it at any time on your own!
