My body was not buying it and until our bodies go along with the ideas we aren't fully on board. In this podcast I share what did work and how it has shifted my life and business.

Why Allowing People to Fail Empowers Them

Why Allowing People to Fail Empowers Them

Send us a textOne of the harder lessons I’ve learned is that sometimes the very best thing we can do is to allow people to fail.It is not our job to rescue clients and customers when they make less-than-ideal decisions. In fact, I’d argue when our motive is to rescue someone because we think they’re making a mistake, it’s all about us feeling good. It is not about empowering the other person. When a client fails and experiences negative consequences, it feels awful to me because I like my clients and I want them to be successful. My hope is always that they will learn from their mistakes and do better the next time and they get to own that success, too.

Are You Pushing Away Right Fit Clients and Customers?

Are You Pushing Away Right Fit Clients and Customers?

Send us a textSmall businesses and solopreneurs often use marketing as a way to make themselves look good; like they've got it together and offer huge value.Ironically, this often has the effect of pushing people away. We're so focused on making ourselves look cool and amazing that we end up intimidating our audience; making them feel unsafe. The opposite of what we most desire! In this podcast, I talk about tendency to look amazing and leave our clients out of our messages and ways we can create more trust and safety so our right-fit clients feel good about us and truly want to take next steps to work with us.

Focus on the Yeses

Focus on the Yeses

Send us a textThere are a lot of dynamics, internal and external that suggest we should worry about the people who don't like/aren't interested in our creations and services. Unfortunately when we focus on the "no's" we stay small and invisible. To connect with the people who genuinely want our creations and services it's important we focus on the yeses regardless of the pressure to do otherwise.

How to Remind People (But Not Be Annoying)

How to Remind People (But Not Be Annoying)

Send us a textWhen you email or post an offer or invitation, most people will ignore it or forget about it even if they are genuinely interested and would benefit by saying yes. This is because people are incredibly busy and usually pay attention only to the things that are calling the loudest for their immediate response. This means we, business owners, need to send reminders. Reminders increase the possibility that the people who want what you're offering will see and respond to your offer. We do, of course risk annoying some people and they will unsubscribe. Here is my approach to creating reminders that feel clear and respectful AND reach the right people.

Making Peace with "Influencer Nation"

Making Peace with "Influencer Nation"

Send us a textTo become more visible and connect with more ideal people, I thought being a podcast guest was the way to go. Alas, I discovered it's hard to be a podcast guest when the podcasts that seem to be a "good fit" are steeped in "social influence style" and I strongly dislike this popular trend. Do I suck it up and pitch to podcasts even if I can't bear to listen to them? Do I remain trapped in obscurity? What to do?

Should You Do What Makes You Miserable to Get Enough Money to Do What You Love?

Should You Do What Makes You Miserable to Get Enough Money to Do What You Love?

Send us a textIn the world of entrepreneurs it's common to hear the advice "suck it up" and you'll be glad you did when you're making all that money, enjoying fame, etc. But is that true? Do we really have to do things that feel out of alignment with who we are to create what we want? Here's my experience and what I've learned.

Authentic Beats Clever Every Time

Authentic Beats Clever Every Time

Send us a textThere is so much advice out there showing us "how" our marketing should sound. And there are a lot of clever ideas out there telling us how we can be seen and stand out. In my experience, however, what our audience wants most is US; imperfect, a little messy but being who we really are. In this podcast I share my personal journey going from clever (and not very effective) to authentic, messy and far more effective when it comes to connecting with the people who want what I offer.

What Does Your Inner Critic Really Want? You'd be Surprised.

What Does Your Inner Critic Really Want? You'd be Surprised.

Send us a textWe tend to think of our inner critic as a kind of "touch love" coach who just wants us to be our best self. But after having a little chat with my own inner critic I learned that, no, what she really wants is to keep me safe as a respected member of the tribe. So how do we help this fierce mama bear back down so we can move forward?

How to Get Out of Your Own Way

How to Get Out of Your Own Way

Send us a textWhen it comes to doing the things that make our creations more visible in the world, there is no greater obstacle than ourselves.
