The one thing I’m concerned about
After a strong week in the market, next week’s Fed announcement is the big focus. Traders are now pricing in a 50/50 chance of a 25 or 50 basis point cut. What happens if it’s only 25 points? We might see a sell-off.
For option traders, volatility opens up opportunities to hedge or speculate. Join me as I break down the technicals and what to watch for next week!

Why this is an important week (and what to trade)
Dan Passarelli here with your weekly market update! It's a short but mighty week ahead, with the Fed expected to cut rates next week. We're looking at a 63% chance of a 25 bps cut and a 37% chance of 50 bps. Keep an eye on key employment data coming out this week—JOLTS, the Beige Book, and the monthly unemployment figures. With inflation cooling, the focus is now on jobs. I sold my straddles today but might jump back in if the market shifts. Same circus, different tent
The S&P 500 just had a big day, up 1.7%, breaking through the 50-day moving average. But before we get too excited, let’s remember that we’re still near the top of the 10-year range with little fundamental change driving this move. The Fed’s next move? Traders are pricing in a 75% chance of a 25 bps cut, but the question remains whether that really justifies this rally.
With the VIX down at 15, long volatility plays could be interesting, especially as we head into the weekend. If you’re trading, keep an eye on those opportunities.

Will it or won’t it?
Happy Hump Day!
Today’s market sees the SPY testing a critical resistance level at the 50-day moving average. With tomorrow’s unemployment and non-farm payrolls data on the horizon, the market could see some pivotal movement. Traders are currently pricing in a 65% chance of a 25 basis point cut at the next Fed meeting, keeping volatility in play. Keep your eyes on the VIX and consider your options for navigating this market.

Great opportunities (if you know where to look)
Happy Tuesday! Today’s market saw a strong 1.6% update, with the S&P 500 filling gaps and closing above the 21-day moving average. But the VIX is still high at 1809, which means more volatility could be on the way. I’ve placed a bet on it with a straddle on SOXL, which looks like a great opportunity right now. 8/12/24 What to watch this week
Happy Monday! We’re starting the week off with low volatility, but that’s likely to change with PPI, CPI, and unemployment figures all coming out this week. Spiders have been recovering, but we’re still below the 50-day moving average. Expect some market movement ahead, and I’ll be back tomorrow with more updates.

Technical vs fundamental analysis: What's the difference?
Hey, Dan Passarelli here! In this episode, I’m clearing up the confusion between technical and fundamental analysis. Fundamental analysis is all about evaluating a company’s value by looking at earnings, inflation, and financial health. Technical analysis, however, focuses on market data like price charts and indicators such as RSI and MACD. Both are valuable tools, but they serve different purposes. Tune in to understand how these approaches can sharpen your trading skills! #TradingTips #FundamentalAnalysis #TechnicalAnalysis #InvestSmart

This is what market makers do
Dan Passarelli here! In this episode, I’m sharing insights from a recent chat in the MTM community about how market makers hedge their positions. The key is managing Delta risk—buying calls and selling stock short to balance it out. This process, especially when big players are involved, can impact the supply and demand of the underlying stock. Understanding these nuances will help you trade smarter. Funded brokerage accounts
Dan Passarelli here! Ever wondered what a funded account is? It’s an account you put money into, essential for accessing all features in a brokerage. Without funding, you miss out on real-time data, seeing positions, and executing trades. Practice accounts are helpful but have limitations. Tune in to learn why having a funded account is crucial for your trading journey.

Buy the rumor; sell the news
Ever want something but then lose interest once you have it? This happens in life and the market, often termed "buy the rumor, sell the news." Today’s market action might reflect this. Better than expected unemployment and lower inflation numbers initially rallied the market, followed by a sell-off. Tune in to understand what this means for traders. #TradeSmart #MarketTrends #Investing101 #StockMarket
