In this week’s episode of the flagship Lions of Liberty podcast, Marc is joined by the fascinating John Perkins, author of “Confessions of an Economic Hitman” and the updated “New Confessions of an Economic Hitman.” John describes how he was recruited by the NSA and targetted as a potential EHM, or “Economic Hitman”, where his job was to travel the world, wooing world leaders with fancy economic projections and promises of prosperity in order to convince them to accept crippling loans and debt they could never repay.
Libertarians often concern themselves with foreign intervention, most often focusing on military conflict. But in this show, John Perkins provides a deeper look at an even more insidious level of conflict, the chaos created by EHM’s around the world. FF 103 - Libertarian Principles Helped a Drug Dealer Turn his Life Around
On today’s episode of Felony Friday, host John Odermatt is joined by Colin Kreiger. Colin is a member of the Lions of Liberty Pride (you can join here), but that’s not the reason why he’s on the show. The reason Colin was asked to share his story on Felony Friday is because he serves as a remarkable example for others that it’s never too late to turn your life around. In fact, Colin credits the ideas of liberty for being a main catalyst in providing the blueprint and the motivation to turn his life around.
Colin has made some mistakes in his life and paid dearly for them. He was kicked out of his University’s criminology program for getting caught with less than a gram of weed. Section 702 was scheduled to expire/sunset on Dec 31st, 2017. However, the likelihood of that happening is slim, and Brian explains why and how it will likely live on. FF 095 - From Corporate America to Solitary Confinement
Today on Felony Friday Holli Coulman joins host John Odermatt to share a shocking story of injustice. Holli went ascended the corporate ladder over a 16 year period serving the administrative needs of senior and executive vice presidents at a large high-tech company, Hewlett Packard. She found herself targeted under a federal investigation. And upon legal advice she took a plea to avoid the exorbitant cost of taking her case to trial. Holli was given a 21-month sentence for one count of wire fraud with a restitution amount of 954K.
Holli shares her experience and talks about the dangerous and abusive environment she was subjected to while incarcerated. The most shocking aspect of her time in prison was the two months of solitary confinement she was subjected to as a punishment for publishing blog posts that shared the mistreatme [...]

318. Stephan Kinsella on “Argumentation Ethics”
On today’s episode Marc is joined by the very first guest to ever appear on Lions of Liberty way back in episode 1 - libertarian legal theorist and author Stephan Kinsella! Stephan answers the quesiton Marc failed to ask in that episode of just how he first became interested in libertarian ideas and went on to become a proponent of Hans-Hermann Hoppe’s “Argumenation Ethics.” Marc and Stephan go on to discuss the theory - where it originated from, what it entails, and why Stephan believes it to be a superior justification for libertarian private property ethics - moreso than natural rights or utlilitarian/consequentialist ethics.
Enjoy this deep dive into libertarian philosophy!

ELL 42: America’s #MeToo Problem
On this week’s Electric Libertyland, Brian takes a long hard look at the mutation and obfuscation occurring in the fallout from the Harvey Weinstein allegations and the #MeToo hashtag trending on Twitter. Originally created to give sexually assaulted women a voice, the transformation of the hashtag’s users showcases how far the Democrats will go to move attention away from Clinton, and America’s real “Me, Too” problem, which has nothing to do with sexual assault.
Brian then looks to the ironically named Liberty Act, which seeks to keep the worst of the domestic spying apparatus intact, the bombshell revelation that the FBI knew about Clinton/Russia bribes and money during Obama admin, the New York Times hiring a “gender editor” and finishes up with a well-deserved rant about kids Halloween costumes being considered cultural appropriation.

317. Self-Esteem and Libertarian Burnout with Dr. Michael Edelstein
In today’s show, we take a slightly different path away from libertarian philosophy and politics and welcome in clinical psychologist and speaker Dr. Michael Edelstein. Dr. Edelstein starts off by explaining how he became interested in clinical psychology and how that eventually led him to meet Walter Block and - after several years of debate - to him becoming a libertarian. Dr. Edestein then explains his view on self-esteem, and why he is critical of its promotion specifically by Nathaniel Branden and Ayn Rand. Marc and Michael then discuss the concept of “libertaran burnout” and how passionate libertarians can adjust their expectations in order to avoid this common phenomenon.
