"The Bible in Today's World" - "Is God Angry at America?", Part 3 - Ep.44

Welcome to "The Bible in Today's World", the show that compares today's world with the Word of God. In general and specifically, are we following the Bible in our daily walks? Is society demanding that we follow the Word of God in all that we do? Does our Almighty Father look upon us and frequently say, "Well done, good and faithful servant!" - or is He thinking of us as He thought/thinks of Sodom and Gomorrah? On today's show, we will explore, "Is God Angry at America", Part 3. We will also play Part 2 of my interview with RYAN PENLEY: RYAN PENLEY, a gentleman who is currently living in Florida, will join us to discuss how he got into the world of drugs and alcohol; almost died; and how he found his way out to survive and thrive in life. we will also discuss his new release, "Man Up. Sober Up: Eight Powerful Steps to Reclaim Respect, Conquer Isolation, and Thrive in Recovery". FROM HIS WEBSITE: Ryan, now 42 years old, knows the highs and lows of life like few others. Raised in Florida and having lived in both the bustling nightlife of Las Vegas and the serene landscapes of Colorado, he faced trials that led him to the brink, from homelessness to lying in a coma. Along the way, he tasted financial success but also the bitter pill of losing it all. At the age of 13, he fell into the treacherous world of drugs and alcohol. For years, he prioritized the fleeting pleasures of a party lifestyle over meaningful connections and self-responsibility. After hitting rock bottom, a moment of awakening guided him to a new path—one of sobriety, self-respect, and a dedication to aiding others in their recovery journey. With more than four years of hard-won sobriety, Ryan has transformed his life's adversities into valuable lessons for those still struggling with addiction. Today, he lives a life that is unimaginably blessed, exceeding even his own expectations. His debut book, "Man Up. Sober Up.," serves as both a testament to his resilience and a practical guide for those seeking to reclaim control over their lives. More than a survivor, Ryan is a beacon of hope for those still battling their demons. He demonstrates that from the depths of despair, it is indeed possible to forge a life filled with purpose and joy. https://www.ryanpenley.org

KIM A. LARSON, Christian Author (4-17-24)

KIM A. LARSON, a Christian author from Minnesota, joined us to discuss her book, "Unraveling Fairy Tales - Learning to Live Happily Ever After". FROM HER WEBSITE: Kim Larson writes in a variety of genres, for the youngest to the oldest of readers. Her debut picture book, Goat’s Boat Won’t Float, will be released in the fall of 2024. She’s published a devotional-style Bible study, Unraveling Fairy Tales: Learning to Live Happily Ever After, and a dozen poems and short stories in regional anthologies. When she’s not writing, you may find Kim working in her garden or playing Sequence with her husband. I grew up on a farm in Minnesota with loving parents and four younger siblings. Life in the 1960s and ’70s was much simpler, and my parents let us roam freely. The hayloft, farm animals, and my goofy siblings kept me entertained. Maybe that’s why I didn’t enjoy reading as a child—despite what this photo depicts. Thankfully, that changed in fourth grade. My teacher, Mrs. Zimmerman, read wonderful books to the class. Two of my favorites were Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White, and From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E. L. Konigsburg. Sensing my reluctance to read on my own, my teacher suggested I read The Boxcar Children series by Gertrude Chandler. I loved these stories so much that I imagined becoming a writer someday. That dream lay dormant for many years—until I had children. Every night I read to my two boys before bed. I also made up stories, casting Jordan and Jesse as heroes. During the daytime, I helped people’s dream of homeownership come true by originating mortgage loans. When my boys were grown, it was finally time to pursue my own dream! When I’m not writing, you may find me searching my flowerbed for monarch caterpillars. (Watch one emerge from its chrysalis here!) I collect flower and vegetable seeds in the fall to plant the following spring. I’m frugal and a homebody, so strolling no farther than my garden for fresh lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes brings me joy. But nothing is more important to me than my faith, family, and friends. https://kimalarson.com

MARK STOUFFER, Christian Author (4-3-24)

MARK STOUFFER, a career-long engineer, and now an author of Biblical books, will join us to discuss his latest release, "Hesed: Does the Tanakh Foreshadow Jesus?" FROM HIS WEBSITE: "Mark graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Ohio State in 1983. However, the economy was bad at that time, and he was unable to get a job in engineering. Over the next 14 months, he struggled working such jobs as door to door sales and maintenance work at a country club. It was not an easy time, but it was the time that G-d chose to reach out to Mark. Despite Mark’s selfishness, thoughtlessness, arrogance, and other character flaws, G-d pursued Mark to rescue him. G-d held Mark’s heart in His hand and said, “I am here.” Mark received Jesus into his heart as his L-rd and Savior, and everything changed. In 1984, Mark took a job with the Ohio Department of Transportation and has worked in engineering ever since. He has worked on multiple high-profile highway projects and other public works projects. One of his ongoing responsibilities has been to write engineering reports and manuals. In 1990, Mark married Noushi and his life took another turn for the better. Mark and Noushi have had the privilege to be parents to both a son, Paul, and a daughter, Leila (pictured above). Mark has led home churches with his wife and taught the Bible for many years. A few years ago, he felt the urge to write a book. He thought he would write a book about the Bible to Muslims, as he has studied the Qur’an for many years. Then one night, at 3:00 a.m., he awoke with many thoughts on his mind. He got up and typed out an entire chapter. But it was not for Muslims; it was for Jewish people. In that moment, and ever since, Mark has felt led by G-d to write this series of books. May it be a blessing to you." https://lovingkindnessofadonai.com

Also included are excerpts and discussions of Paul's parenting book, "A PRINCIPAL'S FAMILY PRINCIPLES - Raising Your Kids to Be Happy and Healthy, While Enjoying Them to the Fullest". On today's show, in addition to reading the chapter, "Sibling Rivalry" from his book, sharing wisdom from others, and a bit of humor, Paul played Part 2 of his interview with DEBORAH HENNE. DEBORAH HENNE, a speech-language pathologist by day and an author by night, a wife, mother, and Jesus lover, from Pennsylvania, will join us to discuss her unique experience with the Lord at age 12; her newest release, "Gentleness: It's Not What You Think"; and her podcast show, "Sounds Like Freedom". FROM HER BIO: I'm almost always found typing away at my computer after tucking my kids in at night. But...I don't always write at my computer. Sometimes I can be found writing with an old-fashioned pen and paper at my keyboard. I have written prophetic songs, songs inspired by biblical revelation, and worship songs. I love how music unlocks our hearts and can transport us into the presence of God. I also love digging deeply into the Scripture, unearthing gems through word studies and putting the writings of the Bible into context. I also do tend to geek out a little on science. Many ask me how, since I am a woman of faith. My answer? Science helps us understand the natural world. Faith empowers us to live in the supernatural. Sometimes it helps to understand practical tools and steps as we take each step in our faith journey. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Sometimes, it can be both.  In my book, Gentleness: It's Not What You Think, I bare my soul to share my journey of conquering obstacles and challenges in life by pairing faith and evidence-based principles supported by science and the Bible. It is my prayer that my book inspires and encourages others to take practical steps to overcome in their lives too.  Life isn't about staying the same. It's not about being perfect either. It's about being "ever changed." I believe in using every tool available so we can live as overcomers and in freedom. There are tools that have been researched by scientists. There is also faith. Both have value. But in my experience, it is when we taste and experience the glory of God that we are truly transformed. It is my passion to allow God to work through me in order to connect people to His presence and glory so we can all be forever changed.  https://deborahhenne.com

"The Bible in Today's World" - Favorite Bible Verse - Ep.38

Welcome to "The Bible in Today's World", the show that compares today's world with the Word of God. In general and specifically, are we following the Bible in our daily walks? Is society demanding that we follow the Word of God in all that we do? Does our Almighty Father look upon us and frequently say, "Well done, good and faithful servant!" - or is He thinking of us as He thought/thinks of Sodom and Gomorrah? On today's show, we will explore "Your Favorite Bible Verse". We will also play Part 2 of my interview with DR. ROBERT RASCHKE. DR. ROBERT RASCHKE, a clinical professor of Internal Medicine and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, will join us to discuss his battle with COVID, while he was on the front lines in the Intensive care Unit. Plus, we will discuss his book, written under the name of "DR. ANTHONY ECKSHAR", "One Hundred Prayers: God's Answer to Prayer in a Covid ICU". FROM HIS WEBSITE: "On March 20, 2020, anticipating the struggle of a lifetime against Covid pneumonia in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where I worked, I resolved to say a prayer a day for a hundred days. Over the next two years, my partners and I witnessed the deaths of over 400 patients from Covid pneumonia despite the highest levels of life support we could provide. I survived the fear, exhaustion, dehumanization and anger I experienced along the way only through my commitment to prayer. In this book, I record 272 of these prayers and the story of what happened to our patients, their families and our ICU team. I learned that the only thing required to receive the gift of faith is to pray for it, and that even a regular person like me can call forth miracles in God’s name." Exploring life since 1960, Anthony Eckshar MD has practiced Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine in the Phoenix Metropolitan area since 1986. He is a Clinical Professor of Medicine, and although predominantly a bedside provider, also an author of over sixty peer-reviewed research articles. He has taught well over a thousand resident physicians and 500 medical students during the course of his career, has received several teaching awards and was elected to the Gold Humanism Honor Society by the medical students at the University of Arizona. Anthony is happily married since 1984, with two adult children. Anthony Eckshar MD was raised in the Catholic faith (even served as an altar boy) and became a born-again Christian in 1993. He always had an abiding sense that God loved him – one of the greatest gifts a person can receive. Although his faith has waxed and waned over the years, it became increasingly and inexorably inter-twined with his patient care. Dr. Eckshar’s prayer life blossomed under the strain of the Covid pandemic. In the spring of 2020, he started praying in ernest. At first, he prayed mostly for his own safety, but as the months went by, he began focusing on others, culminating in praying for every ICU patient every day. Many only pray during adversity, and Eckshar has come to believe that is why adversity is allowed. He believes we were created to share the love of Jesus, but in our stubbornness, we sometimes need to be forced to make a choice. When we chose the path of prayer, “in all things God works for the good of those that love him.” Eckshar sees his job as a holy vocation. Even when incredibly discouraging things are experienced in the ICU, love is stronger. To survive the job, and to provide the best medical care to his patients, Anthony Eckshar MD has learned to love them, in whatever way he can find. He believes Dr. Francis Peabody’s words, from almost 100 years ago, still hold true: “The secret of the care of the patient, is in caring for the patient.” https://www.100prayers.org
