The Onward Project
Veteran TV writers Liz Craft and Sarah Fain demystify Hollywood by making career and personal struggles universal. Friends since high school and writing partners for over 20 years, Liz and Sarah have survived and thrived in Tinseltown’s male-dominated entertainment industry, guided by blind optimism and a Midwestern work ethic. Along the way they've learned a lot about kicking ass, kissing ass, and office yoga.
Ep. 244: Working Weekends & Trying Versus Doing
Liz and Sarah have a confession to make — despite swearing Season Two of Fantasy Island will be different, they’re already working weekends. Arg! Then, in their new HIH WFH (Happier In Hollywood Work From Home) segment, they explain how the Writers’ Room is breaking story remotely using WritersRoom Pro®. Next, in Take A Hike, Sarah has an “ah ha” therapy moment about the difference between trying and doing. Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack tackles time management: set aside ten minutes to do online research for every hour of writing.

Liz and Sarah open the floor to listener questions! Hot topics include: parenting, chickens, Corgis, and more! How do Liz and Sarah know if a story has “legs”? Lastly, this week’s Hollywood Hack gives you ergonomic support in your car or home: BackJoy’s SitSmart Core Traction Back Support.

Ep. 242: What Would Dolly Do 2022!
Liz and Sarah reveal their team motto for the new year — What Would Dolly Do 2022! Their goal is to harness Dolly Parton’s spirit of strength, fun, and goodness. They also plan to wear more eye shadow. In Take A Hike, they each make a commitment to make one change for their mental health and one change for their physical health in 2022. Sarah is going to cut down on scrolling and increase how much she’s hiking each week. Liz is going to read more novels and lower her A1c. They’ve also got 2021 Hits & Bombs. Hits go to the vaccine, Season Two of Fantasy Island, and making the best of a bad pandemic. Bombs go to the Covid variants, failing at Christmas, and holding on to the Covid 19 pounds. Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack comes from Liz’s niece Eliza: When evaluating a new job opportunity, ask yourself if it meets at least one of these criteria — is it fun, meaningful, or does it offer a steep learning curve.

Ep. 241: The Nimble Life
Liz and Sarah discuss the necessity of staying nimble as they write and produce Season Two of Fantasy Island. “Lean TV” requires a lot of juggling! Then, in Amplify, Liz talks about her new favorite show, The Sex Lives of College Girls. Next, they introduce a brand new segment – HIH WFH (Happier In Hollywood Work From Home) – and reveal a strategy to protect important work time when there’s a lot going on at home. This week’s Hollywood Hack will keep your feet warm this winter: Brooklinen socks.

Ep. 240: Be The Calm In The Storm
Let’s face it— sometimes things go wrong. Liz and Sarah discuss how when they had to manage a recent snafu, they took a lesson in leadership from Captain Lee on Bravo’s Below Deck: STAY CALM. Then, in Take A Hike, Nacho saves the day! Liz and Sarah share the mental health benefits of actively transitioning between Work and Not Work… and how a certain Corgi puppy helps. Next Liz and Sarah answer a Mailroom question about getting laid off. (Spoiler alert— it happens to everyone.) Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack: virtual bulletin boards!

Ep. 239: The New Normal?
Now that we’re all (sort of) heading back to work after the pandemic, what does “the new normal” look like? Liz and Sarah discuss the pros and cons of a hybrid work environment. Pro: less snacking. Con: fewer jobs for support staff. Then Liz and Sarah respond to a Mailroom comment about how taking a leap into the unknown can lead one down unexpected paths… and to surprising success. Next, in Take A Hike, Sarah reveals she’s been talking to a therapist again and encourages Liz to do the same. Finally, you can use this week’s Hollywood Hack while you Zoom, and it’s great for tired feet: Shiatsu Air 2.0 Foot Massager with Heat.

Will Kate be able to trust herself with James’ story, or even her own voice? Ep. 238: Liz Washes Away Guilt with a Sound Bath
Liz shares that while both she and Sarah embraced gratitude over Thanksgiving, Liz also felt another “g” emotion… guilt! Turns out it’s hard to enjoy a few days off when so much work looms on the horizon. One solution? Remember that relaxing now leads to more productivity later. Then, in L v. S (Liz versus Sarah), they debate the merits of sound baths. Liz finds a sound bath more soothing than a massage — Sarah can’t stand the high-pitched tone of singing bowls. Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack could be life altering: When looking for a mentor, choose someone whose life you like.

Ep. 237: Liz & Sarah Set Boundaries!
As Liz and Sarah begin writing Season Two of Fantasy Island, they’re determined to maintain work boundaries — at least for as long as they possibly can. One strategy? Wait to answer non-urgent emails. In The Mailroom, they answer a listener question about how to transition from unscripted to scripted television. Then Liz and Sarah talk to their brand new assistant, Lauren Conoscenti, about how her attitude toward her job garnered Lauren the best recommendations from her former bosses that Liz and Sarah have ever received. Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack is inspired by Happier With Gretchen Rubin guest Larry Smith: Write a six word gratitude memoir.

Ep. 236: What Kind Of Decision Maker Are You?
Liz and Sarah analyze different kinds of decision making. Do you follow your gut? Take the path of least resistance? Make decisions by committee? Then, in From The Outer Office, they talk to their former assistant and current Executive Story Editor on Season Two of Fantasy Island, Brook Sitgraves Turner, about what it’s like to climb the Writers Room ladder. Her advice? Take an improv class. Brook also provides this week’s Hollywood Hack: Keep a blanket in your car.

Ep. 235: Liz & Sarah Celebrate Season Two of Fantasy Island!
Liz and Sarah share HUGE news! There will be a Season Two of Fantasy Island! Now that they’ve accomplished this major goal, what’s next? They’re setting their sights on making it to one hundred episodes. Or maybe seventy-five... In Hits & Bombs, they give a big Hit to two colleagues — Marie Jacobson and Ray Ricord of Sony Gemstone — for being such cheerleaders. They also give a Bomb to the bureaucratic hell that kept them from starting the writers room when they wanted to. This week, Liz and Sarah have two Hollywood Hacks. The first is a hiring hack: When you’re up for a job, ask former employers to send unsolicited praise to the people who might hire you. The second Hollywood Hack might keep you out of hot water: Instead of texting sensitive information, write it in a Google doc, then delete. Finally, Sarah had a Halloween Celebrity Sighting — singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb.

Ep. 234: Hike Versus Sprint (And Liz Has Big News)
Season One of Fantasy Island was a sprint that left Liz and Sarah flat on the ground. As they look ahead to a possible Season Two, they discuss how to have their work life resemble a hike instead. Yes, it will be arduous, but they also want to enjoy the view. Then Liz answers a Mailroom question about her name. In a special L v. S (Liz versus Sarah), Liz announces that she has a new puppy — a Corgi named Nacho! And she concedes that Sarah has been right all along. Pets do make a person happier! Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack will improve your work communication dramatically: use clear email headers.

Ep. 233: Embracing Hiatus Mode
With Season Two of Fantasy Island still up in the air, Liz and Sarah have decided to embrace Hiatus Mode! What does that mean? Going to their favorite hiatus restaurants (including Benihana), taking short trips to see friends, and — for Sarah — getting out her spinning wheel. In Take Two, they have MORE great gifts ideas for this holiday season. Thanks, Listeners, for all the suggestions! One popular Item? Salt! Then Liz and Sarah amplify the new season of a podcast that anyone who aspires to be in the entertainment business should listen to — the Catch A Break Podcast. Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack will help keep your car tidy: the Epauto Waterproof Car Trashcan.

Ep. 232: Sliding Doors & Sarah Gets Chickens
Liz and Sarah discuss how their immediate future resembles the 1998 movie Sliding Doors. There’s one reality if Fantasy Island gets picked up for Season Two, and a totally different reality if it doesn’t. In Take A Hike, Sarah shares how she’s using meditation to help her get through this stressful time. Her favorite tool? The Ten Percent Happier app from Dan Harris. Plus, she got chickens! So Ojai. This week’s Hollywood Hack turns any gathering into a special event: rent a photo booth. Finally, Celebrity Sightings are back! This week Liz and Sarah spotted comedian Fortune Feimster at Kiwami.

Ep. 230: What Five Things Do You Want To Be Known For?
Liz and Sarah discuss a question put forth by their favorite author consultant, Crystal Ellefsen — what five things do they want to be known for? First on the list — writing interesting, complex female characters. Then they Amplify Dichos, an hilarious new web series from Fantasy Island Season One writer Mary Angelica Molina. This week’s Hollywood Hack is for the overbuyers out there: If you feel the need to buy something, buy a holiday gift. Finally, Sarah had her first Celebrity Sighting in Ojai. She saw Jason Segel walking into town.

Ep. 229: The Waiting Game
Liz and Sarah are anxiously waiting to find out if there’s a future for Fantasy Island. They reveal one way they’re handling the stress — working on the network pitch for Season Two! In Hits & Bombs, Liz gives Sarah a Hit for how she’s dealing with the social slog in her new hometown of Ojai. And after watching the new Amazon docuseries LuLaRich, they both give a big Bomb to MLM’S — multilevel marketing companies. Liz even pledges to give up her beloved MLM skincare products. Then they answer a Mailbag question about the Fantasy Island logo — why is the “A” upside down? Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack is a pro tip that took Liz and Sarah years to learn: Repeat after them.

Ep. 228: Resetting, Reframing, & The Finale
Liz and Sarah reveal what’s most pressing in their work psyches this week — nothing! As Season One of Fantasy Island comes to an end, they are making a conscious effort to take a mental break from the show. In Take Two, they revisit their post Puerto Rico reset plans. Did Sarah find good hiking trails in Ojai? Has Liz stopped eating after 10PM? Have they both managed to focus on their friendship? Then, in Take A Hike, Sarah discusses her recent decision to reframe certain big expenses — an insight which led Liz to feel better about the money she’s spending on making a will. Liz and Sarah also go Behind The Episode, discussing the Fantasy Island season finale, “Dia De Los Vivos,” which was written by Liz’s husband, Adam Fierro, and guest-stars the always fabulous Leslie Jordan. Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack makes a great business gift, especially for somebody who spends a lot of time on sets: the Kinetic Sling Crossbody Bag from Athleta.

Ep. 227: The Power Of A POV
Liz and Sarah discuss the importance of having a point of view at work. Your boss might not always agree with you, but that’s ok! In Behind The Episode, they talk about two episodes of Fantasy Island: “The Big Five Oh” and “The Romance & The Bromance.” One exciting detail? The casting! These episodes feature a Melrose Place reunion and an appearance by Roselyn Sanchez’s husband — Eric Winter! Then, in Amplify, Liz shares a must-see documentary — LFG — about the US Women’s Soccer Team’s fight for equity and fair pay. Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack comes straight from Sarah’s move to a new house: Keep a stain stick wherever you undress.

Ep. 226: Expect the Worst, Prepare for the Best!
As the school year begins, Liz and Sarah take a cue from Violet's first day at her new school: Expect the worst, prepare for the best. It’s the opposite of the conventional wisdom, but it works! Then they answer a question from a listener who wants to know if their motto — It’s a fun job, and we enjoy it — still applies when it’s NOT a fun job. The answer? Yes! Next, they go behind the scenes on this week's Fantasy Island episode, "Twice in a Lifetime." Finally, they share a Hollywood Hack inspired by their fellow TV writer Bill Krebs: Give someone a Cameo.

Ep. 225: The Art of the Podcast
Liz and Sarah aren’t just TV writers — they’re podcasters! This week they discuss how they make Happier In Hollywood, and what elements they think are necessary for a good podcast. One rule? No aimless banter! In Behind The Episode, they talk about the Fantasy Island episode, “Once Upon a Time in Havana.” Then, in The Mailroom, they answer a listener question related to their “fun job” motto. How can a job be fun and not fun at the same time? Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack applies to everyone everywhere: Go as yourself.

Ep. 224: The In-Between Time (And a Brand New Fantasy Island Segment!)
Liz and Sarah discuss what they call, "the in-between time—“ Fantasy Island has premiered, but will there be a second season? Or not? The numbers (overnights, L3s, L7s, etc.) trickle in, but what do they mean? When will the future be clearer? No idea! Then they discuss the importance of asking for what you need. Both Liz and Sarah had to do this recently… and it made a HUGE difference. They also debut a brand new segment: Behind the Episode, in which they go behind-the-scenes of the Fantasy Island episode that aired that week. Finally, this week's Hollywood Hack is perfect for this particular pandemic moment: iPic theaters.

Ep. 223: Writing Is Easier Than Not Writing (And The Premiere of Fantasy Island!)
After months of work (and stress) it happened — the premiere of Fantasy Island on FOX! Liz and Sarah discuss the press coverage, the presence of an Evil Donut Bringer in the pilot, and what Liz's sister-in-law, Olivia, thought about the character (loosely) inspired by her. Then it’s time for a Take a Hike double-feature! In the first, they talk about why writing is easier than... well, not writing. In the second, Sarah shares why her recent (very public) fall off of a piece of playground equipment was not necessarily a bad thing. Finally, this week's Hollywood Hack makes a fun and affordable gift: personalized pillows.

Ep. 222: Prepping For Press & Braving Reviews
As Liz and Sarah gear up for the premiere of Fantasy Island, they‘re doing a lot of press — which can be daunting. But they have a plan of action! Knowing what they want to say and remembering to express their passion are key. In Take a Hike, they reveal how they’re mentally preparing for the Fantasy Island reviews. It’s never easy! In Hits and Bombs, they give BOTH to the same thing — the cancelation of the Fantasy Island premiere party. (Yes, Covid strikes again.) This week's Hollywood Hack will be useful to anyone who doesn’t want to put something in writing: Set voice memos to delete after two minutes.

As they near the end of production, Liz and Sarah talk about their bad case of senioritis: the writing is done, shooting is almost done, but there’s still work left to do! How do they stay focused? In Take a Hike, they reveal how they’re challenging themselves to use this time of transition as a fresh start. Then Liz and Sarah give themselves a zip lining Hit and a behind-the-scenes photos Bomb. Liz and Sarah talk about hitting the wall — and then climbing on top of it to enjoy the view. They’ve accomplished a lot in the last few months! In Take a Hike, Sarah allows herself a moment to focus on her mental health with words of wisdom from her friend and real estate agent, Victoria Massengale: “You’re allowed to have normal human emotions.” In The Craft (& Fain), Liz and Sarah share their philosophy when it comes to giving and receiving notes. The psychic burden is quite different between the two! This week's Hollywood Hack is a way to beat the heat in hot locations: Carry a fan.

Ep. 215: Accepting We Don’t Have Control
As Liz and Sarah start to hand over cuts of Fantasy Island to the studio and network, they have to accept they don’t have control over how other people react. And that’s okay! In Hits & Bombs, Liz gives a Hit to Bravo for bringing Heather Dubrow back to the Real Housewives of Orange County. She also gives herself a Bomb for not succeeding with her post Puerto Rico clean slate. In The Mailroom, Liz and Sarah answer a question about their process of breaking story. Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack comes from Sarah’s daughter Violet: Watch before and after pet videos on You Tube for a quick pick-me-up.

Ep. 214: Be An Insulator
Liz and Sarah discuss a great compliment they received from one of the Fantasy Island writers— they’re insulators as opposed to conductors when it comes to keeping show stress from infiltrating the Writers Room. Then, in their new Amplify segment, they share a fantastic new podcast from Liz's sister-in-law, Olivia Fierro: Olivia’s Book Club. Plus, now that they're back from Puerto Rico, they settle an important L v S: Is it better or worse to be working at a vacation destination? Finally, this week's Hollywood Hack will help you feel better in times of stress — take Advil.

Presenting: No Place Like Home
Do you remember the first time you watched The Wizard of Oz? Those famous red ruby slippers are some of the most iconic objects in Hollywood history that still bring back nostalgic memories every time they’re seen. They became a rare collector’s item worth millions. In the summer of 2005, a pair was stolen from the Judy Garland Museum in the small town of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. In No Place Like Home, C13Originals, a Cadence13 Studio, teams up with journalist Ariel Ramchandani and editor Seyward Darby for this documentary podcast to investigate a heist that dives into small town suspicions between local cops and the FBI, the fraught relationship between Grand Rapids and its most famous daughter, Judy Garland, and brings listeners inside the peculiar world of Hollywood memorabilia and the market for lost and stolen art. Although the shoes were eventually recovered, there are more questions left than answers. Who stole the shoes and where were they hiding for more than 13 years? No Place Like Home is available now on all podcast platforms.

Ep. 213: Spice Up, Live Long & Completing Phase One of Fantasy Island
Liz and Sarah have completed Phase One of Fantasy Island — all of their story areas for the season have been approved! There’s still LOTS of work to do, but they take a moment to savor this accomplishment. Next up? Finishing all the scripts and getting into post! In Take A Hike, they talk to friend of the pod, Dr. Melina Jampolis, about her fantastic new book, Spice Up, Live Long: A Guide to Using Herbs and Spices to Live a Longer, Healthier and More Vibrant Life. Dr. Melina says it’s not just about your lifespan — it’s about your health-span. This week’s Hollywood Hack will help you stay calmer and more empowered: Don’t respond.

Ep. 212: Be A Boulder Pusher
Liz and Sarah discuss why, in a group setting, it’s important to be a person who pushes the boulder up the hill. And if you can’t push the boulder up the hill, then at least don’t be the one pushing it down the hill! Then, in Take A Hike, they talk about how one of the Fantasy Island writers has inspired them to try to be “at ease in muddy water.” In The Craft (& Fain), Liz and Sarah share some of their favorite lingo from the writers room. What is shoe leather? A house number? What does it mean to hang a light on something? Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack will help you appear calm, even if you aren’t: Lower your voice.

Ep. 211: Everyone Is Right
Liz and Sarah discuss how, when working in a highly collaborative environment, everyone can be right at the same time, which can sometimes make things feel oh so wrong. Then, in The Mailroom, they answer two listener questions. How much thought is put into the way scenes look on television? And how can four women starting a business together successfully make group decisions? In The Craft (& Fain), they share a Tool of the Trade: jumbo neon dry erase whiteboard magnets. Finally, this week's Hollywood Hack will help you relax: Read a romance.

Ep. 210: Cussing and Discussing
Liz and Sarah share a listener’s suggestion about how to frame potentially difficult work conversations so that they stay light-hearted and productive — let everyone know at the outset that there will be plenty of “cussing and discussing.” In Hits & Bombs, they give a big hit to the Fantasy Island hair and makeup team, who gave up their lunch hour to make Liz and Sarah look good for a behind-the-scenes interview. They also give themselves a bomb for too much bitching and complaining! Clearly, Liz and Sarah need to heed their own advice — “don’t treat a gift like a burden.” This week’s Hollywood Hack will add humor to your work text chains — use gifs! Finally, after a year of lockdown, Celebrity Sightings are back! Liz and Sarah are seeing celebrities all over the resort in Puerto Rico — of course these celebrities do happen to be working on Fantasy Island!

Ep. 209 Sometimes It's Not A Fun Job, And We Don't Enjoy It
Liz and Sarah are in the thick of production on Fantasy Island, and they discuss how sometimes it's not a fun job, and they don't enjoy it. But that’s ok! In Take A Hike, they talk about why it’s important that only one of them melts down at a time. Then, in Hits and Bombs, they give a hit to their amazing Fantasy Island cast and crew for coping so well with Covid restrictions in the tropical heat. And they give a bomb to ineffective bug sprays! Finally, Liz and Sarah share an important Hollywood Hack: Go to bed!

Ep. 208: The Gift Of Other People’s Productivity
As work on Fantasy Island continues to become more and more intense, Liz and Sarah discuss their gratitude for the gift of other people’s productivity. Without it, they’d never sleep! In their new segment, A Day In The Life, they take listeners through a typical day while running a show. It starts with Sarah waking up at 5:00 AM to finish writing an introduction to a network Show & Tell, and it ends with a story session on Sarah’s patio after Violet falls asleep. In The Craft (& Fain), Liz and Sarah explain how “an idea is wrong until it’s right.” Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack is a must in Puerto Rico: sun hats!

Ep. 207: To Be Or Not To Be Indecisive
Liz and Sarah pride themselves on making decisions quickly — it’s a big part of being a showrunner. But sometimes it’s better NOT to make a decision until more information is available. How do they know when to be or not to be indecisive? In From The Outer Office, Liz and Sarah talk to Fantasy Island writers assistant, Kira Bennett, about her experience in the room and what it’s like to go from Zoom to IRL. Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack will save you money and time: nail wraps.

Ep. 206: Location, Location, Location!
Liz and Sarah discuss how being in a great location can impact the experience of work. Can't go to a tropical island? Try sitting in front of a window. Then in The Mailroom, they answer a question from a listener who's been this close to staffing for the last four years, but just can't get his break. In Take Two, they revisit the concept of awfulizing after they recently spent an entire dinner speculating about an upcoming call from the studio. This week's waterproof Hollywood Hack is an affordable way to get ready for summer: Birkenstock Eva Arizona Essentials.

Ep. 205: What Happens To Good Intentions When The Shit Hits The Fan
Liz and Sarah are in Puerto Rico to shoot Fantasy Island! And all of their good intentions to sleep, exercise, and eat right have gone by the wayside. Right now, they're just doing their best to keep their heads above water. In Take a Hike, they talk about the importance of taking the time to laugh -- even when there is no time. Then they face off with an L v. S-- staying in a hotel vs. an apartment while shooting on location. Finally, this week's Hollywood Hack makes working together so much easier: Final Draft 11's collaboration feature.

Ep. 203: A Good Reason to Embrace the Hate
Liz and Sarah discuss their recent realization that eight months ago, Fantasy Island wasn’t even on their project list— and now it’s their whole lives! If there’s one thing all of us have learned this past year it’s that we just never know what’s around the corner. Then Liz shares why “embracing the hate” has made her a better Showrunner. In Hits and Bombs, Liz gives a hit to the new book Just Work: Get Shit Done Fast & Fair, and Sarah gives herself a bomb for being scattered. This week’s Hollywood Hack: Do something on a lark. Sarah did, and now she’s moving to Ojai!

Ep. 202: Haters Gonna Hate
Prompted by a recent unpleasant email (and Taylor Swift), Liz and Sarah discuss the fact that “haters gonna hate.” Anytime they put themselves out there — creatively or on the podcast — they’re inviting criticism. And that’s OK! In Take A Hike, they talk about why “using your team” leads to greater mental and physical health. Then they debut a brand new segment — A Day In The Life — in which they explore the daily duties of running a show. Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack will improve your mood: Choose a pick me up password.

Ep. 201: Be A Volunteer (And Sarah Is Moving!)
Liz and Sarah often talk about one of their favorite mottos — volunteers not recruits. Today they remind themselves that as pre-production of their reboot of Fantasy Island gets more and more intense, they want to BE volunteers themselves. Enthusiasm makes the job... dare they say... FUN! In The Craft (& Fain), they talk about how to uncover “the note behind the note” in order to get more out of your notes sessions. Then Sarah gives Liz a big Hit and announces some huge life news. She’s moving to Ojai! This week’s Hollywood Hack will improve the look of your pants: Skims.

Ep. 199: Liz & Sarah On Feeling Pressure From All Sides
As Liz and Sarah write the pilot for their reboot of Fantasy Island, they’re also feeling the pressure of getting a show off the ground after a straight-to-series pick up. Their best coping mechanism? Focus on the task at hand at any given moment. In Mailroom, they answer a listener question about the many behind-the-scenes details of making a show. This week in Hits & Bombs, Liz and Sarah give two Hits. Liz gives a Hit to the HBO Max show, It’s A Sin, about a group of friends coping with the AIDS crisis in London. And Sarah gives a Hit to Violet for the sweet gesture of putting toothpaste on Sarah’s toothbrush. Ep. 198: The Art Of Doing Extra
Liz and Sarah discuss the art of doing extra at work. It’s not about putting in more hours willy-nilly — you’ve got to pick your moments to make an impact. In Amplify, they talk to their former assistant turned full-time TV writer, Brook Sitgraves Turner, about Pep Packs, the charity she started for people in Los Angeles County who are recovering from Covid. Then in Take Two, Liz and Sarah share how listeners followed our Episode 194 advice to “light a fire.” This week’s Hollywood Hack soothes the soul: Choose an audio book based on the reader’s voice. Ep. 197: Our Layer Cake Philosophy
Liz and Sarah discuss why they compare the creative process to baking a layer cake. A script isn’t going to be rich and textured with just one layer. The goodness builds as all the different elements come together over time. And the same is true for work relationships. Give them time to develop layers. Then in The Mailroom, they answer a question from their Facebook Group about what to do when a colleague refers to a young woman as “dear.” In Hits & Bombs, Liz gives a Hit to Pretend It’s A City, the Netflix documentary series about Fran Lebowitz. And Liz and Sarah give a Bomb to Brooks Barnes for his New York Times piece about the late powerhouse producer and executive, Jame Tarses. This week’s Hollywood Hack is a must: wear sunscreen every day.
