Lee Povey, Leadership & Executive Coach
First interview of 2022 arrives with our guest, Lee Povey who provides insight into some of the key tools and perspectives in his coaching methods. This episode is about equipping you with the conscious tools required to bring your best self to your career daily and give yourself the opportunity to compete at the highest levels. Heralding from the UK and a former coaching career as an international cycling performance coach, Lee has now spent most of the last 2 years establishing himself as a leadership & executive coach. He has established his own company - Maximize your Potential Coaching (Website) - and has invested a lot of time in establishing the philosophies he is impacting clients with today. We start by discussing confidence and establishing buy in from those you oversee and how we can do this by both illustrating and explaining why our methods can have impact. From here, Lee goes into the notion of how we "show up" on a daily basis and how this dictates how we react to the stimulus around us. Lee explains the impact of coming from a place of love in the way we go about our days and seek empathy in our behavioral tendencies. Furthermore, we leave ourselves open to opportunities for expansion in human connection and personal growth when we see the world from this perspective. Finally, one of the lasting points of emphasis Lee offers is that of prioritizing and enjoying the process over the result, and see the success in being able to actually keep the process as the priority. Lee references two books within the conversation as well that he acknowledges for having great impact on his coaching methods The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership (Buy here) Man's Search for Meaning (Buy Here) Be sure to leave a rating or review for the episode (Here) and reach out to Steve directly regarding coming on the show at [email protected] up for the monthly newsletter with Steve and GrowthReady (formerly known as Career Competitor) by providing your details here - Request to become part of our communityAlso be sure to give him and the show a follow on Instagram @coachstevemellor

Competitive Call - Eliminating the "Good Enough" Mindset
Welcome to a competitive call to start out 2022 as I present the notion of how we have been sold on being good enough throughout our lives. Whether we are willing to accept it or not a great deal of our upbringing was based around satisfying standards and doing enough. This mindset got us through school and into our careers, but when I look back on my passions as a child and look at the passions I pursue today, they were born out of an exposure to an elite mindset and standard. So what came first? The passion or the exposure to elite performance? Through this 10 minute episode I present the notion that I pursued sports growing up thanks to being educated and exposed to elite level sport. So wherever you are in your journey, what role has being exposed to excellence played in establishing your passion in life? Want to chat with Steve? 2x Paralympic Bronze Medalist - Samantha Bosco
Delighted to have 2x Paralympic Bronze medalist Samantha Bosco join us to share her life story of overcoming numerous obstacles in order to reach her dreams. It is great to have professional athletes join the show so we can get more literal examples of the “athlete mindset”, but so much of Sam’s story sheds light on the trying times athletes deal with, which is just as valuable as hearing about the successes. I believe athletes are at their most relatable when they open up about their hardships as we all encounter similar scenarios within our non-athletic careers Sam provides perspective on the need to make sure our dreams are able to evolve and adapt to the situations life hands us. Nothing about Sam’s story demonstrates a loss of ambition, in fact I’d argue her adversities have made her more ambitious, but it is healthy to allow your dreams to evolve with these ups and downs. In addition, we are educated on the impact a strong support system can have from those we need to rely upon when the going gets tough, and the importance to prioritize these peoples opinions most and ignore distractions from those that don’t know you as well. Keely Cat-Wells RETURNS TO THE SHOW!
It gives me great pleasure to welcome back to the show the remarkable Kelly Cat-Wells who, since we last spoke has made the "Forbes 30 under 30", gotten engaged (and married - SURPRISE!), and continues to catapult the careers of so many disabled people across the entertainment and sports world. Only the third time I have welcomed someone back to the show makes this episode that extra bit special but the content we cover is fantastic for anyone lost and drowning in their career to hear. Keely has found a way to enhance her magnificent career and companies, while making time to let love and companionship into her life to find success across all areas! It is important to make time for these particular episodes from time-to-time to remind ourselves of the power a healthy and happy existence away from our career can have on the direction of our career. Keely had to learn the hard way that immersing herself in her career success at the expense of her happiness was a road to long term disappointment, so she made space for it and boy did it pay off! If you didn't listen to the first episode with Keely I encourage you to do so here - https://careercompetitor.libsyn.com/actress-and-disability-activist-keely-cat-wells - so you can learn all about her career trajectory before hearing about her successes today!Sign up for the monthly newsletter with Steve and GrowthReady (formerly known as Career Competitor) by providing your details here - Request to become part of our communityAlso be sure to give him and the show a follow on Instagram @coachstevemellor

Life Coach, Swimming Champion & Author - Kelly Palace
We welcome Kelly Palace to the show to enlighten us on the extensive experience she has across so many industry's... all within which she has been successful in! Between being a championship swimmer, coach, pharmaceutical salesperson, real-estate specialist, and now life coach with an award winning podcast, Kelly has found a way to compete to the highest level and win! So much of what Kelly has achieved she acknowledges comes back to her ability to see the big picture but approach achieving it by "putting a penny in the jar" daily. This tactical approach has allowed her to build success on her terms at her pace, something she learnt from her distance swimming career. Kelly's new book Take your Mark, Lead! gives readers a map for how to identify the "persona's" they best relate to in order to lead in a way that is most familiar to them. Within the interview we discuss how these persona's can be best attributed based on the environment within which we are trying to lead within. So much fantastic insight into the competitor Kelly is and I also encourage you to go listen to her podcast "Champions Mojo" where you hear all about her and her co-host, Maria Parker stories on what makes people champions at what they do. Open Water World Champion - Jordan Wilimovsky
With the Tokyo Games happening at the moment I thought it would be great to bring on someone who recently competed over there and what a great guy I was able to grab a hold of in Team USA open water specialist, Jordan Wilimovsky. Within the conversation we discuss in detail the art of "enduring", not in the obvious sense of Jordan's incredible physical endurance, but more in the mental sense of what it takes to not become distracted from the goals at hand. Whether you are someone that is use to long days in the office, working on projects for weeks at time, or someone that just struggles with long-term commitments, Jordan sheds some great insight on how to approach a task and conquer it through an ability to endure.
