In this podcast, we, Jorge, Paul, and Hanah talked about one of the masterpieces of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio also known as Caravaggio - Conversion of St. Paul. We analyzed the artwork and discussed our understanding of the subject and what they represent. We discussed the comments of the nine-teenth-century critic Jacob Burckhardt, art connoisseur Bernard Berenson, and art historian Rudolf Wittkower to Caravaggio's Conversion of St. Paul. We argued if Burckhardt and Berenson's comments are correct than Wittkower and finished up the podcast on our insights if it's a big deal that the horse takes up the majority of the artwork and not St. Paul himself.

A realistic story does not have to take place in our days and our surroundings; it can portray life in a remote location or in past times, but it seeks to adjust as much as possible to the uses and customs of those societies. Ashlee, Emilio, and Julius discuss the case of “A Ladylike Hand”. They talk about artwork, particular stylistic properties, and gender stereotypes. Emphasis was focused on how the society’s perspective changed after acknowledging an Artwork was created by a female or by a male and the different criticism that was expressed to artists when something was believed to be done by a man when actuality was done by a woman. The critics depict what a woman's capability in artwork could do. We discussed how unfair treatment toward women’s ability in art or any artistic area such as music or literature was expressed with such harsh criticism, such as what happened to Judith Leyster and the backlash she received when compared to Frans Hals’s work.

In our podcast episode “Raphael: Misleading or Devotional”, we answer the question: Are Raphael's depictions of the apostles, and particularly of St. Paul, true? False? Informative? Misleading? We first started by providing some background information on Raphael including some of his paintings. Then we continued by analyzing one of his paintings “St Paul preaching at Athens” in order to answer the question. Based on the background information on St Paul and Raphael's Style which includes the emotions he likes to depict in his paintings, we were able to conclude that his representation of St Paul was informative. Paul Cezanne was not the usual artist, unlike other artists, his muse was the mountain, Mont-Saint-Victoire, located in the city he grew up, Aix-en Provence in Southern France. Cezanne got popular for his repetition of this painting, which allowed him to identify himself through his artwork.
