Feeling + Feelings Collocations
A student asked me when we use the word feeling (singular) vs. feelings (plural), like in the sentence “I can certainly understand your feeling / feelings.” The most natural choice here is feelings, because we use the plural form when it’s a substitute for the word "emotions" in general. We use the word feeling, singular, when we’re talking about one specific feeling. It’s usually modified with an adjective - an amazing feeling, a terrible feeling, etc. In today's lesson you'll expand your vocabulary by learning collocations with the words feeling and feelings. These are combinations of words that are often used together - and learning them will help you speak English more easily and naturally. I have two great ways for you to learn lots more collocations fast: One is my e-book, 1000 Collocations in 10 Minutes a Day, which is great for intermediate learners. The other one is my Advanced Vocabulary and Collocations Course, which is perfect for more experienced English learners. Click on each link for more information and to join!

How to end conversations (without being rude)
Do you know what to say when you want to bring a conversation to an end? Today you'll learn how to end conversations in a positive and polite way! I hope you enjoyed this lesson - and I hope to see you inside my Everyday English Speaking Courses. I say “courses” because there are actually two courses - Level 1 which focuses more on practical daily situations, and Level 2 which has more advanced conversations and expressions.

How to keep a conversation going (with examples!)
In the last lesson, you learned how to start a conversation in English. In this lesson, you will learn how to keep a conversation going - with examples! If you like learning English from conversations, then you will LOVE my Everyday English Speaking Courses, because each lesson is based on a dialogue. This is a very effective way to learn English phrases in context. I think some English learners can be a little afraid of having conversations because they’re afraid they’ll have to speak for a long time. But as you can see from these examples, each person just says one or two sentences, and then it’s the other person’s turn to speak. It’s a balanced interaction - a conversation involves taking turns, not just one person talking on and on for a long time. So don’t be scared to have conversations in English! I know you can do it, and remembering the tips from this video will really help you. Of course, it’s even easier to have conversations when you know lots of phrases to express yourself! You can learn them inside my Everyday English Speaking Courses. Like I mentioned earlier, the course lessons are based on conversations, so you can learn the phrases naturally.

40 phrases for starting conversations in English
Do you have difficulty speaking English? Sometimes the hardest part is simply starting a conversation. Today you'll learn 40 conversation starters that native English speakers use in various real life situations – formal or informal, at work, school, or other contexts! These aren’t especially “deep” conversation starters like you might want to use on a first date, when you’re interested in getting to know someone extremely well. Instead, they are more suited for “small talk” – casual conversation about topics of general interest. You will learn lots more phrases inside my Everyday English Speaking Courses - they cover tons of situations, like what to say during: travel shopping eating in restaurants socializing agreeing/disagreeing making invitations and requests giving criticism or advice expressing your thoughts ...and much more. I hope to see you inside!

Reported Speech: Rules, Examples, and Exceptions!
A LOT of students ask me about "reported speech," when we talk about what somebody else said. For example: Direct Speech: “I’ve been to London three times.” Reported Speech: She said she’d been to London three times. There are a lot of tricky little details to remember... but don’t worry, I’ll explain them and we’ll see lots of examples. There are also two quizzes for you to practice! So much of English grammar - like this topic, reported speech - can be confusing, hard to understand, and even harder to use correctly. I can help you learn grammar easily and use it confidently inside my Advanced English Grammar Course. I will make even the most difficult parts of English grammar clear to you - and there are lots of opportunities for you to practice. If you want to take your English grammar to the next level, then my Advanced English Grammar Course is for you!

Hey everybody - listen up! Do you know what that means? Telling people to “listen up” means you want them to pay attention. This is an example of a phrasal verb being used as a command. Phrasal verbs like these are so common in everyday English, but they can be a little hard to learn because they’re all so similar – back off, back out, back up, back away, etc. That’s why I created the Phrasal Verbs in Conversation Course – to help you learn them in a natural way, by studying conversations. You’ll learn more than 500 phrasal verbs inside this course, and I think you’ll really enjoy it.

Has this ever happened to you – someone asks you a question in English, and you don’t understand it at ALL? It can be frustrating and embarrassing when you don’t understand a question… but this video will help! When you know about these pronunciation changes, then you can recognize them when you hear them – and understand questions a lot better. The secret to improving your pronunciation is practice, practice, lots of practice – and you can get it inside my American English Pronunciation Course. 100+ words with LONG and SHORT vowels
Let's practice 100+ words with long and short vowel sounds! Download lesson text 👉 https://espressoenglish.lpages.co/long-short-vowels-pdf-audio/ A vowel is a sound we make with our mouth and vocal cords open, without touching our tongue to any other part of our mouth. In vowel sounds the air flows freely (differently from consonants, in which we block the air with our tongue, lips, or teeth). Vowels in English are represented by the letters A, E, I, O, and U. The letter Y is considered a “semivowel” because sometimes it represents a vowel sound, and sometimes it represents a consonant sound. English vowels can be divided into two types: long vowels and short vowels. The difference between them is in the duration of their pronunciation. Long vowels are pronounced with an extended sound, while short vowels have a quicker sound. Want to improve your pronunciation even more? Join my pronunciation course! Pronunciation & Shadowing Courses: 30 lessons each course: Listen & repeat words & phrases to practice all the sounds of American English and speak more continuously.
