306: Giving Your Loved Ones the Gift of Experiences
I want to dedicate this episode to my dear friend, Michelle, who was recently promoted to heaven. She and I were diagnosed with cancer around the same time, and her journey was a very public one. She made waves in healthcare and the community. In July, she took a trip to Thailand with her family. She announced over instagram “For the next two weeks, I’ll spend my time the most important way, making memories with my kids.” In light of her example, today I want to talk about living life on our own terms, and infusing the deep connection we desire with our families. Buyers’s remorse, pressure from family, over scheduling events, and the fear of judgement are some of the many things I've heard women name as a source for their stress during the holidays. I invite you to welcome it in, and then ask yourself, “What am I learning from this situation?” It’s ok to say “no.” You have to set healthy boundaries to manage your energy, your resources, and your time. 304: My Business Journey. How it started and the evolution
Today I want to share my business journey with you. It’s important to dream for change. This is how we change the world, and have a ripple effect. I left a traditional world of therapists to seek other alternative and holistic approaches to healing myself and the people around me. My business and money story wasn’t easy. I’d have money come in and then I’d reinvest it, and watch it go out. I didn’t know how to create profit or get out of debt. I learned that I couldn’t do it all on my own, and I had to get the right help. If you feel called to do something, realize that there is a lot that goes into it. If you’re looking at my story, don’t look at where I’m at right now. Realize that what I’ve created in a decade, you can’t create overnight. I wouldn’t be where I am today without continuously taking action. I’m not talking about hustling, or burning yourself out. We don’t have to neglect ourselves physically, emotionally, or spiritually to be successful or to be a good mother. Give yourself permission to want what you want. What do you want? Focus on what you your soul craves, create a plan and action steps to get there, and don’t give up on the whole process. ................................................................................................. Today I share a little bit about my own journey and how I used to handle stressful situations by controlling the things around me. As soon as I discovered how to let go of control and started nurturing myself, I started approaching my relationships from a place of ease and love, and my circumstances became easier. There will always be days when I feel off because this is life, but I still feel in control because I know what I need to do. 284: The 4th child you never knew I had (and what she is teaching me)
Any intimate relationship, like the one we have with children, will show us exactly where and how we can grow. They trigger us. They point out our deep wounds and force us to look at them (or run away from them). Intimacy in any relationship is uncomfortable, vulnerable and sometimes heartbreaking. Our expectations of who we want this person to be are different than who they really are. This is the relationship I've had with my body over the last 5 years. The 4th children, you never knew I had.
