Jewelry is a billion-dollar industry that has been around for centuries. There are a variety of sectors and components in the jewelry business, but most people only think about it from a consumers perspective. Hip-Hop culture has championed jewelry for years and even created the phrase “bling bling,” that’s recognized in the dictionary. However, the celebration of jewelry has been as purchasers not as profiting businesses. Dion is the execption to that. In episode 67, Dion gave us an inside look into the extremely secretive world of the jewelry business. He explained exactly what jewelry manufacturing is, went over the value of gold and discussed if it should be used as an investment and he covered the do’s and don’ts of jewelry collecting, investing and purchasing. This week, our Hometown Heroes edition comes courtesy of the legendary city of Nashville, Tennessee. If you’re from Tennessee you have most likely heard of Slim and Husky’s. The new age pizza chain is the talk of the town in the culinary industry. With three locations in Tennessee, one in Atlanta and one more Atlanta location on the way, their reach is growing at a fast pace. The company is not your average pizza store. It was created by three childhood friends (Emanuel Reed, Derrick Moore, and Clinton Gray) who have grown into serial entrepreneurs. The pizzeria combines hip hop, style, art and community givebacks to make the pizza-buying experience different from their competition. Their pizza business is booming but the story goes deeper than that. The trio started their first business with a few thousand dollars in 2010, which was a green eco-friendly moving company. They sold that company a few years later for over a million dollars. After the sale, they used the proceeds to fund their next business which was Slim and Husky’s. In episode 61, they told their story in detail, they explained the process of selling a company, and broke down how they have created a scaleable business that is still community based. #Entrepreneur #Restauranteur Guest IG: @slimandhuskys EYL Website: www.earnyourleisure.com --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/earnyourleisure/support Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

EYL #54 The Blueprint
Our latest edition of Home Town Heroes comes courtesy of the turbulent city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At the age of 31 Brandon Rule is a business prodigy. He is a commercial real estate developer with an extremely impressive resume. He has developed $50 million in affordable housing projects in Milwaukee through his company Rule Enterprises and has an additional $180 million in projects currently in his development pipeline. A few weeks ago Brandon went viral on social media after news broke that the city of Madison, WI recommended that he be awarded a contract to develop a 30,000-square-foot grocery store, 150-unit apartment building and 345-space parking garage on a city-owned lot. There aren’t too many black commercial real estate developers, and they’re definitely aren’t a lot his age. One of the reasons why there are so few black developers is that there isn’t a lot of exposure given to successful individuals in the industry. Most people think about real estate from an investor’s perspective very few aspire to be big-time commercial developers. In episode 54 of @earnyourleisure Brandon broke down the ins and outs of commercial real estate development, he explained how affordable housing credits work, he talked about financing and he gave an in-depth look into his journey into becoming an icon in the industry. One of the most requested industries that we haven't covered yet is the male haircare business. Barbershops are a staple in every community especially in black communities worldwide. EYL #50 No Limit feat. Max Maxwell
Wholesaling is a fascinating part of real estate that not many people are very knowledgeable in. You can make huge profits wholesaling real estate and you don't need any money to start, you don’t need a real estate license, and you don't need years of experience. What you do need is a strong work ethic, knowledge, and a game plan. For months our Earners have been asking us to cover wholesaling and they have overwhelmingly asked for one guest to talk about it. The undisputed wholesaling champ Max Maxwell. It took a while but we got it done. Max is as big as it gets when it comes to teaching about wholesaling. He has built a community of over 400,000 people between Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. Outside of social media, he runs a business empire that will gross over $7,000,000 this year. What makes his story remarkable is where he started. Three years ago his bank account was overdrawn by $438. Today he employs 18 people and just closed on 8,000 square feet of office space. He is a serial entrepreneur and operates several businesses, but wholesaling is what got him off the ground and has remained a major focus in his business plan. In episode 50 he broke down everything you need to know to get started wholesaling real estate. He explained the ins and outs of the game, he went into detail about how to master a market and he provided industry insider tips.
