If you’re thinking, “Podcasts?! Who the heck still listens to those? This is the age of TikTok, anything longer than 30 seconds is blasphemy. People have the attention span of Squirrels now, come on!”  Well, would it surprise you that over ⅓ of Americans (that’s 104 million people) listen to podcasts regularly? You’re seeing massive companies like Spotify spending hundreds of millions of dollars to acquire upstarts like Anchor, a free podcasting platform, and Gimlet, a producer of podcasts.But the thing that kinda sucks about podcasts is it’s hard to find them (unless one of your friends tells you, “yo, you gotta check out this dope new podcast I just found all about underwater basket weaving!”) Enter: YouTube and even TikTok & Instagram Reels for that matter.  You’re now seeing an explosion of podcasters starting to leverage Video.  YouTube even launched a dedicated podcasts homepage recently.So I dunno about you but I’m feeling pretty confused. Now this is gonna be kinda meta because when I was figuring out how to launch this podcast that you’re listening and/or watching right now, I thought to myself, “do I really wanna complicate things by adding video?  That way I can just record all the episodes in my PJs!”So, I realized I needed to call upon some experts to settle this debate once and for all. Start a podcast. Oh…wait. So I get the idea behind hustle culture, and honestly, I’m kind of a workaholic.My wife April and I have been full-time creators for many years so work-life balance has always been…a challenge.  And I feel the pressure to pump out content on the social platform hamster wheel. I see the amazing stuff that other creators are putting out there and I feel FOMO.But…should I? I’m a decade PLUS into this creator thing and lately I’ve kinda been thinking that maybe I need to design my life a little more intentionally. Protect my time, my calendar, be more “present” … Because if I don’t I feel like I’m gonna burn out at some point. But there’s always that itch…that tension to do more.So, I recently saw this tweet that said the following:“I am a fan of hustle culture. The truth is, most people should be doing way more. Worst case, you go too hard & have short-term burnout—but at least you found your limits. Best case, that short period of volume & intensity completely changes your life's trajectory.
