033 The 4 Sales Personalities: Which Are You?

Please leave a review, like, share & follow Key Takeaways:  The first kind of sales bucket is Order Taker-  They often believe in the tainted stigma around salespeople, you know pushy and untrustworthy and this keeps them stuck because they have a closed mind around selling and want nothing to do with it.  They may have an Etsy shop where they expect people to reach out to them knowing what they want (putting in their order essentially) and then delivering.  Zero consultation Although may have aspirations likely won’t grow the business beyond volume of taking orders.  The 2nd kind of sales bucket is The Hustler Their mindset is “I gotta get mine”  They think they can plow through by putting in more hours and more time will get them more sales  They sell from an intrinsic mindset and can come across pushy, arrogant, and untrustworthy.  They bypass understanding their prospect on a deep level and move straight into feature selling.  The 3rd kind of sales bucket is The Casual Seller Often closed off to sales coaching because they have strong feelings around the stigma of sales (manipulative & deceitful tactics)  They try to sell with limited tools and resources through their jaded lens Often they put blame on others saying things like “the prospect just doesn't know what they want”  Often they will be the ones who discount and try all other things first to get a new client - the ironic part- they are part of what creates the slimy stigma The 4th and final bucket- the one we are all aspiring to achieve is The Change Agent Motivated to serve people The mindset is around taking ownership and accountability for the outcome and experience their prospects have  They focus on having powerful conversations that will help people take the important next steps to solve their pain.  Often they think- it is my job to lead a prospect through a process that creates clarity on whether purchasing your solution is right for them.      CONNECT WITH GWEN: 2X Your Income NOW Free Sales Audit - CLICK HERE Connect with me on Insta- @GRITANDTENACITYCONSULTING

032 Jackie 3 month journey to 2X her sales

Her steadfast and calming nature has allowed Jackie to appreciate the gifts of her business during each phase but is now wanting to take it to the next level.    Jackie helps female entrepreneurs build thoughtful brands through strategic design. After almost 10 years of corporate design, she started Burtch Designs to help women build their dream brands and has collaborated with over 30 different brands in the last four years.   Why did you start Burtch Designs?  I started Burtch Designs to have more flexibility as I started my family. It was important to me to continue to work but in a more sustainable and fulfilling way. I was also seeking more creativity than my corporate job at the time allowed.   What are some common challenges you’ve encountered in your field?  One primary challenge I face with potential customers is sticker shock. I think on the surface, a lot of people come to me expecting a handful of logo options in a week or so – but once we talk through the details of what is included in a strategy session and how I present just one, thoughtful logo option they have a better understanding of why I price my services the way I do. What made you realize or when did you realize you may benefit from a sales coach?  After listening to Gwen’s episode on the branding business school podcast, I had an ah-ha moment: I kept thinking I needed to hire someone for my business but I couldn't quite land on an area that felt the most necessary to hire for. So, I figured, if I can get my sales process buttoned up, more confident and more direct, that would be an ideal next step in this journey. It would also be a better investment than hiring someone at random without real clarity in how to continually get new clients. 031 Lessons from the car Lot, How NOT to sell

This past weekend I helped my mother-in-love buy a new car and I was reminded why I love teaching and re-shaping the mindset of value selling. I was also reminded of why so many people get a bad impression of sales and are appalled with the dealership and their lack of any customer journey!  The car industry can stand to learn so much and likely earn twice as much by shifting to a coaching-selling culture rather than a “you're a number” culture!    Okay, stay with me as I take you on this journey…   If you have been listening to me for a bit you know the psychology of selling is very important. You also know how you make someone feel ultimately determines if someone buys from you… unless your in the car industry it seems.  When we arrived at the dealership, the guy sluggishly walked out, introduced himself, and said, I’ll be here if you have any questions.. That’s it!  No discovery! No, what are you looking for? How can I help you?  I see you drove up in that car.. Are you looking for something comparable or different? Tell me more about your lifestyles and needs… NONE of that.. Why.. because quite frankly he didn't’ give a damn…  So. What did that do to me?    Well, my energy immediately matched his energy and I could literally feel the walls and the “don’t tread on me vibe” go up.  As he let us alone to endlessly walk the car lot and my mother-in-love saw something she liked, I reminded my whole family to show no emotion because I knew I was getting ready to go into negotiation mode! YUK! Negotiating brings me back to corporate selling where everything is hidden, nothing is just out in the open and you have to fight for what you want.  If you have ever purchased a car recently then you know the sticker price on the window and what the “out door” price is thousands in difference.  So, before you say to any new car make sure you ask for out-the-door price, this will include taxes, titles and all fees.   But I digress, - The salesman came to check on us and we asked to test drive the one she liked. Once they got back I could see my mother-in-love really liked the car so I suggested we grab lunch, let them take her old car and give a trade in value and we’d be back.. I announced “to start our negotiations '.  Who am i?!   Upon our return the car we were considering was pulled out front, all shiny you could tell he ran it through the car wash and his chest was puffed out with a big ole smile on his face.  I was taking over now because, like most, my mother-in-love sees negotiation as being confrontational and honestly I can see why. I shook the guy's hand and asked him again the price, I told him we needed to be at a price point that was $5,000 under that.. He immediately said.. We can't do that… I said .. sure you can.. Everything is negotiable.. We can bypass this whole thing.. Please just go get your manager. After about an hour of back and forth, they met me where we needed to be but unfortunately, it took me threatening to walk away, telling them I nor my mother in love didn’t care about the shiny features they were trying to throw at us as a value add.  In fact, at one point they were listing all the “products” and I asked them. What’s the value of these and they couldn't answer the question.  As they continued to tell me how much they purchased car for and how they would lose money by meeting me I became irritated. I dont give a damn about that and if it wasn't for my mother-in-love, I would have walked away but I knew she really wanted this car. Finally, after hours at this point, they came back with the number we wanted… why.. Why…     All this to say, car lots would sell more and at higher prices if they didn’t...

030 How To Avoid The Spring Sales Slump

Most of the time, service-based businesses experience slowdowns in sales during the summer and the holidays. Depending on your industry you may feel busier during the summer and holidays but if you look at when you sold those clients in they were earlier in the year.  We start to see the symptoms of this however weeks to months prior and NOW is the time to start preparing. 026 Stop Throwing Yourself Under The Bus- The Accountability Coach's Roadmap To Success

Amanda journey:  2017 laid off- Through a series of interviews realized she wanted to be a coach.  Said yes to everything that came her way, and found through saying yes to those things she realized what she didn’t want to do.   Key Takeaways: Tracking and measuring- “ a tracked number grows”  It’s the road map that gets us to our vision Income producing activities are the measurable actions that will become our road map to our vision.  Amanda definition of accountability- Taking ownership of your actions or lack thereof and the outcome that happens. - No buses allowed, not throwing ourselves or others under the bus.  You cannot control whether someone pays on your website, that’s on them. You can control, how many emails you send out, how many podcast episodes you produce etc. 90 day goals  3 things you have to do to set a realistic goal-  (when these things are off this is when you need a coach)  You have to know what you ACTUALLY want - most people go after what they think they should want- if you are sitting in the should bucket it’s going to feel hard the whole time, and you will always struggle to take action, because someone else is driving that- it’s external.  Ask WHY - You have to know your capacity-  your time, finances, skills and energy-  Know your commitment - the willingness - equation-  your performance is a function of your capacity, skills, and willingness. What your clients care about is having a website they can be proud of and that will help them get more visible online.   Step2 : Evaluate your clients- what did you like or not like- If you have found you are working with a group of people that take your energy not give, then something needs to change. 019 Vulnerable Self Worth Discovery: Helping Female Entrepreneur's Sell More is Part Of Fixing Our Systemic Problem

Hey Girlfriends!    After listening to The Consistency Corner Podcast I was all fired up and HAD to record my own thoughts and external process the intense wave of emotions!    I have always said I am grateful for the journey. I truly believe that God has led me to where I am today and that embedded in my DNA is courage and confidence so that I can authentically share and connect with YOU!    Thinking back on my journey, I never understood why or how Women felt this huge disparity in the workforce because if I am being honest, I didn't think I had ever experienced it.  As I coach more and more female entrepreneurs I have come to realize that the worst offenders of this female vs male dilemma in my life are those the closest to me.  I don't blame them as I know it was coming from a place of protection!  I thank them because I learned how to stand my ground and push back on the people that I love the most, which made it easier for me to push back in the corporate world when I felt wronged, which has led to empowerment and confidence in knowing my value!  Overnight, I feel like my mission has taken on a life of its own. This is so much bigger than helping you make more money, this is about giving your power back! It's about helping you know your worth as a Woman in this world and that you have options when you're in control! 016 Systems Are The Vehicle To Your Goals

In this week's mindset boost, I get super nerdy and geek out on systems!  In this episode, we cover: A must-read- Atomic Habits by James Clear Systems build security and confidence and provide all the answers we are looking for in our business From the time someone connects with you there are 8-10 systems you need.  Gut check time- do you have these systems?  Here is the cold truth- If you run a business and want to grow your sales, you can’t afford NOT to have systems.    What is your system when someone connects with in your DM? What is your system when someone fills out a lead form? What’s your system to track and measure your leads? What is your system when to get hem to have a convo with you? What is your system during that convo-  Yes, you need a system on communication ! What is your system after your conversation?  What is your system for following up? 011 Part 2 Sales Formula - Lessons Learned from Mary Kay

Authenticity + Curiosity+ Desire to Help = Confident Selling  One of the reasons my Mary Kay business took off to fast but then quickly died out is because if I am being honest.. I didn’t have the desire to help others You don't want to miss:  1. My failure in Mary Kay 2. Looking back how I know this formula is the key    Mary Kay, was the vehicle that catapulted my confidence, skill set,and knowledge in business, selling, marketing.. And just people…  Yes, I have a masters in business, but Mary Kay taught me things about myself that you don’t learn in textbooks!   So.. What did Mary Kay teach me?     That charisma and likeability will get you far.. But not all the way People’s BS meters are always on…. And usually right That if I am being honest cared more about how Mary Kay was making me feel in the moment than genuinely wanting to help others… or so I thought…    Looking back what I have been discovering over the years is that  I do genuinely want to help people.. This is key…    That want to help themselves!  Looking back,  I was not living in my authentic space  by”   loving people to the top”. While I can appreciate what Mary Kay was trying to do there….  There is not enough love in this world to help someone who doesn’t really want to be helped. The people who don’t take accountability for their life and instead live in victim mentality.  I found myself showing up for others when they weren’t showing up for themselves. I would spend weeknights and weekends working my butt off for half-ass results because there was half-ass preparation. It honestly turned me into someone who thought they didn’t like people…  Looking back, I knew what to say to make it look like I had it all figured out.. When in reality I was drowning in debt,  putting my family in financial ruins. - combined with attaching my success to what I described earlier made everything feel panicked.. For someone who wanted control, I felt so out of control.. Because I was depending on others to do what they said they were going to do in order to feed my family!  Looking back, I was so caught up in trying to help myself that I lost complete focus of helping others from a place of authenticity!  This is a hard lesson to learn. But this is how I know this sales formula works when in alignment  Authenticity + curiosity+desire to help= confident selling!!!!  Looking back, I took a financial hit, my marriage went through the wringer, but I can still say, Mary Kay was the best experience because…     on the other end, my marriage is stronger than it has been- my husband and I worked together climbing out of the rut-  it strengthened my appreciation and love - this man believes in me to the core, so much so- He was willing to ride the wave of destruction I caused then roll up his sleeves to help dig us out…     On the other end…  Mary Kay showed me a different way to sell- a way that I would take into my next career and use as a foundation to help a start-up grow into a multi-million dollar company.      On the other end, after rebuilding my confidence and taking what I learned into corporate, I realized I do actually love helping people… I love helping people in businesses go to the next level by solving a problem. Females in particular who are inspired by their own dreams that pull them forward.   Combined with feedback from those I have coached/mentored over the years, I realized that working with female entrepreneurs to help them feel confident, empowered and in control of their sales is how I really have the desire to help and the organic natural curiosity.     <p style="text-align:...

010 Secret Sales Formula- The Power of Authenticity

Authenticity + Curiosity+ Desire to Help = Confident Selling  Consumers today value authenticity and are more likely to engage with and purchase from those they perceive as genuine and transparent. I think we can all agree that it makes common sense. So why is it so easy for us to lose authenticity during the selling process?   You don't want to miss:  How losing authenticity happens to us all and why it happens What you can do to gut check yourself on the regular Good news!  There are things you can do to gut check this but it starts with getting real and honest with yourself and open to hearing feedback.    Journal daily or weekly: As yourself these questions:  3 Things your grateful for 3 things you accomplished 3 things you will accomplish If you do this consistently for a week, you will start to see where you are giving your time and energy the most. Do they align with your values?  Where can you get back on track?  2.  At the end of the month or quarter- Gut check by asking your customers, friends and family-  If you had to describe me in 3 words right now what would they be?  If your hearing things like stressed, overwhelmed vs passionate, excited etc then you know you are giving off the wrong energy which is bleeding into your sales.  At the end of the month- Go prospect by prospect and look at the ones who closed vs the ones who didn’t and make a column of “what went well” &amp; “what didn’t” and then ask yourself how you felt about the things that went well and how you felt about the things that didn’t. - Don’t we all want to feel good about what we do.   3.  Start/Stop/Continue buckets 3  things you will start doing in the next month 3 things you will STOP doing  3 things you will continue doing Announcements:  Check out my website for the my B3 Framework This program is completely customized for your needs around closing more sales.
