Camp Sunshine
Welcome to Cabin Chats with Camp Sunshine, a heartfelt podcast where we share inspiring testimonials from our camper families, dedicated volunteers, and generous donors. Our mission at Camp Sunshine is to enrich the lives of Georgia’s children with cancer and their families through recreational, educational, and support programs – all year long. What started as just a week of summer camp in 1983 has grown into family camp weekends, sibling camps, family dinners and festivals at the Camp Sunshine House, hospital programs, events with the Atlanta Braves, apple picking at Hillcrest Orchards, and so so much more! Camp Sunshine provides programs for preschoolers, teens, siblings, young adults, and the entire family, ensuring that we meet each family at their unique point in their journey. Best of all, these programs are provided at no cost to our families, thanks to the incredible support from individuals and corporations who believe in our cause. Camp Sunshine expands beyond any one physical place, it is a community of support and hope that people carry with them wherever they go! So, grab some s’mores, cozy up by the campfire, and join us for some heartwarming chats!

Episode 2: chatting about...building trust.

Today, we’re chatting about decades of building trust. For families navigating a childhood cancer diagnosis, trusting others—whether in the hospital or within the broader community—can feel like an overwhelming challenge. But for over 40 years, Camp Sunshine has worked tirelessly to earn that trust, creating a safe space for children and families to heal and find joy. Camp Sunshine has built strong, trusted relationships with the individuals responsible for taking care of Georgia’s children with cancer, including the exceptional medical teams at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah. These medical professionals have seen firsthand the incredible impact Camp Sunshine has on the lives of children with cancer—and as a result, they’ve been a consistent and passionate advocate for encouraging families to experience the healing power of this organization.   A special thank you to the people who made this episode possible: Host and all-around amazing individual: Rick Dascher Edited by: Kerry Schnitzk Audio Engineer: Fay Salvaras Sound Editor: Zak Waxman Music: Original music by Jon Allmett.
