June is National Pollinator's Month! Pollinators are so important not only do they get a month but they get a whole week too June 19-25. Have you ever wondered what the heck a pollinator is? That's what our 1st segment is all about!! Butterflies are the most popular of the Garden Pollinators. It's a strange Dichotomy because those same butterflies pollinating your plants start off as caterpillars that eat your plants. We'll take a deep dive in to what came 1st the caterpillars or the butterfly in our 2nd segment! Over the last decade I've watched Bees go from a nuisance stinging pests to beloved cherished savior of the known world. The facts are that Honey bees and other once frightening insects like hornets are now mans best friend to a productive harvest. In our 3rd Segment we'll discuss the benefits of honey bees and bumble bees and what you can do to help them! Like Butterflies, Hummingbirds are jewels of the garden. Almost as beautiful as the flowers they get nectar from. They also are a very productive pollinator! Listen in during our 4th segment! During our final Segment!! We're going to talk about the best practices for encouraging pollinators. That includes growing the plants butterflies will lay eggs on, feed the caterpillars so they pupate in your garden.

Julio, My Son Carl (AKA Bloomers Nursery Manager) and I visited the Mid Atlantic Nurseryman's Trade Show. One of the 1st things we noticed was how busy it was and that it has finally recovered from covid. Have you ever wondered where new plants come from? It's part keen eye, part science and part Indiana Jones. We're always looking out for the latest and greatest new plants. One that caught our eye was a red leaved Crape Myrtle! We'll tell you about that and other exciting plants in our 3rd Segment! A familiar name is entering the houseplant market. Proven Winners is the latest hybridizer to throw it's hat in the ring. On this week's "House Plant Rant" we're talking about the popular Rubber Tree. New colors and variegation had made an old favorites new again!

1. Julio and Len visited the 107th Pennsylvania Farm Show. One of the 1st things we noticed were how many families were there! 2. While at the Farm Show Len & Julio visited the Calving Corner. It was like watching the incredible Dr. Pol live! 3. When you think of Farm Animals you think cows, sheep even pigs but Rabbits? One of the coolest areas was seeing all of the different kinds of Rabbits. 4. The Farm Show had so much diversity! The Competition wasn't It wasn't just for Animals but also flower Arranging, houseplants and even Christmas Trees. 5.
