Keshet Starr, Esq., is the CEO of the Organization for the Resolution of Agunot (ORA), the nonprofit organization addressing the agunah (Jewish divorce refusal) crisis on a case-by-case basis worldwide.  At ORA, Keshet oversees advocacy and early intervention initiatives designed to assist individuals seeking a Jewish divorce, along with prevention initiatives to eliminate abuse from the Jewish divorce process. Keshet has written for outlets such as the Times of Israel, The Forward and Haaretz, and frequently presents on issues related to Jewish divorce, domestic abuse, and the intersection between civil and religious divorce processes. I talk with journalist Sara McElroy about her career. She shares how overwork and a toxic work environment led to an amount of stress her body couldn’t handle, changing her whole life only to end up in another toxic work environment, snd how both of those experiences led her to look more into why women especially were leaving their jobs and collecting their stories. Sara McElroy is a former hustle culture devotee, ex-chief marketing officer, the Wall Street Journal’s poster girl for pandemic career burnout, and a two-time member of the Great Resignation: class of 2021 and 2022. Following a stress-induced shingles diagnosis in early 2021, Sara decided to hit the reset button on her life; she quit her hard-won CMO job and relocated from the buzzy metropolis of Atlanta to the beach in South Florida for a new job and a fresh start. But she once again encountered deeply ingrained cultural issues in her new role, and ultimately, she walked away again. Finding herself in the company of millions of other women who also set unfulfilling jobs ablaze during the Great Resignation, she returned to her journalism roots and began to explore the stories, breaking points, and defining moments that led women to seek greater opportunity mid-pandemic. I sit down with Chelsea Bear, a disability advocate with cerebral palsy, to talk about her life. She shares how she feels about people looking at her funny, the importance of language when it comes to talking about disabilities, and what body acceptance looks like with a disability. Chelsea was born and raised in South Florida. When she was eight months old, her mom began to realize she wasn’t sitting up like the other babies in her mommy and me class, which led to years of doctor visits, MRI’s, cat scans, X-Rays and more. At the age of three, Chelsea was officially diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Today, Chelsea uses social media to share her first-hand story of living with Cerebral Palsy. Her content is comprised of educational, fun and lighthearted posts that strive to create acceptance and awareness for people with disabilities. She’s certainly no stranger to adventure and aims to live her life to the fullest.
