Episode 135 3 COMMON ENGLISH EXPRESSIONS | MY DAUGHTER NOW HAS TO QUARANTINE | ENGLISH THROUGH STORY
In this English lesson, I tell a story about how my daughter, my son, my wife, and I have all had to quarantine since the beginning of the school year. While I tell this story, I explain how you can use the following expressions: "I'm bummed," "What a bummer," "There's always a silver lining," and "We never know what tomorrow will bring." I think one of the best ways to learn English is to learn through story telling, so I hope that this story helps you with your English learning.

Episode 134 🔴 LIVE ENGLISH Q and A | LIVE ENGLISH TEACHER #RealEnglishTeacher
For about one hour, I will answer all of your questions about learning English and American culture. I have been teaching middle school and high school English in the United States for the past twenty years. We can talk about how the United States just observed Veterans Day or how it was once called Armistice Day. Anytime we talk about politics, that can be a tricky subject, but the presidential election is still pretty big news over here.

I had to take the day off from teaching because I had a doctor's appointment right in the middle of the day. In this English lesson, I explain how both my son and my wife have had to quarantine, but because of different “close contacts.” I tell a story in slow, clear English to help you with your listening comprehension. I explain how the CDC or Center for Disease Control in Atlanta defines close contact. My son has to quarantine because one of his hockey coaches tested positive, but oddly he is experiencing no symptoms. My wife has to quarantine because one of her students tested positive and is actually pretty sick with flu-like symptoms. Towards the end of the lesson, I explain how the next presidential term doesn’t begin until January 20th, 2021, so we are in no rush to find out who will serve for the next four years. Episode 126 HOW AMERICANS DO YARD WORK | HOW AMERICAN SCHOOLS DO FIRE DRILLS | TWO ENGLISH LESSONS
This podcast is unlike anything I've done before, I actually combine two lessons, "How Americans do yard work or fall clean up" and "How American Schools deal with fire drills or evacuations." Yard work is never fun for me. It's usually pretty cold because winter is coming. I'd rather be making YouTube lessons for you guys or learning some Italian, but it has to be done or there is an even bigger mess in the spring. School fire drills in the United States have changed recently because of a few violent and unfortunate incidents involving guns.
American teachers have several events they have to prepare their students for: fire drills, evacuation drill, and a lockdown. It is important for students and teachers to leave the building calmly, but quickly during a fire drill or school evacuation. If an American school goes into a lockdown, it's important for students and teachers to be silent in the dark. It's a pretty scary thing, even for teachers.

Episode 122 🇺🇸🇺🇸 HOW AMERICANS ELECT THEIR PRESIDENT | ENGLISH LESSON WITH REAL ENGLISH TEACHER
In this English lesson, I explain how American vote for a United States presidents. It is pretty complicated because we don't directly elect our president. There is something in between the votes and the president, and that's called the electoral college. Large states like California have many electoral college votes, 55. Small states like mine only have four, but the popular vote really doesn't matter. Hillary Clinton actually got more votes in 2016, but Donald Trump because president because he won the electoral college votes. I also talk about how blue states are Democratic states and how red states are Republican states.

EPISODE 119 🙇 WHAT AMERICANS REALLY MEAN WHEN WE SAY “SORRY” | ENGLISH LESSON IN SLOW ENGLISH
I'm sorry. I was not on a trail in New Hampshire when I made this video. I was at my house. 😀
Americans say "sorry" all the time. In this slow English lesson, I explain some of the reasons Americans might say "sorry" and there are some reasons you might not realize. We don't just say "sorry" in English when something is our fault, we also say "sorry" when we hope things will get better for you, like, if you are going through a difficult time. I hope you learn a little something from this English lesson in slow, clear English.

EPISODE 118 DO AMERICANS CELEBRATE COLUMBUS DAY OR INDIGENOUS PEOPLES' DAY? | ENGLISH LESSON
In this English lesson, I explain how Americans celebrate Columbus Day or Indigenous Peoples’ Day. In recent years, the name of this three day weekend or long weekend has become pretty controversial. Some Americans believe that Christopher Columbus is a great man of history and should be celebrated. Other Americans believe that the people who were here before Christopher Columbus “discovered America” or arrived in America should be the ones remembered or celebrated during this second weekend in October. Some English vocabulary words I explain are: “air quotes,” indigenous, long weekend, three day weekend, and British holiday vs, American holiday. I would love to hear your comments about what you think this weekend should be called in the United States.

🔥 Link for bonus credits on iTalki: https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1034504&u=2346050&m=70611&urllink=&afftrack=
In this video, I explain seven ways we use the phrase "make up" in English. Until Doctor Luke from Poland pointed it out, I never realized how complex the term, "make up" is in English. We use it for making our faces pretty; we use it when we make up work or time. We use it when we need to make up a bed. We use it when smaller parts make up a larger thing. For a few seconds, I also mention how we use "make up" sometimes and at other times, we use "made up."

Episode 104 I NEED TO QUARANTINE FOR FOURTEEN DAYS | SLOW ENGLISH SHORT STORY
In this English lesson I tell about how I came into contact with a colleague who tested positive for COVID. Because of this, I will need to quarantine for fourteen days, missing the first day of a new school year for the first time in my career. Teachers had only been back for a few days, and this happens. Students hadn't even arrived.
I also explain the English terms: jarring, "I know a guy," and "the unknowns." Thankfully, I am feeling really well. I think I was safe, but will keep you updated if things change.

🔷 Please rate and subscribe 🔷
For this podcast, I will teach you many English words and phrases we use when talking about trees. We actually use a Latin root "arbor" and a Greek root "dendro" when we talk about trees in English. I explain how insurance often works in the United States and why I do not cut down the dangerous tree in my yard myself. We also visit a arborist from a distance.
I also explain how to tell someone a Happy belated Birthday and how to tell them a Happy early Birthday.

There are many ways to use "break up" in English, and I discuss quite a few. A couple may break up. You may have to break up a fight or an argument. Your cellphone reception might be breaking up because you are in between cell towers. I also briefly introduce the prefix "mis." We often use words like misinformation, misheard, and misremembered. I hope this podcast helps.
"Break in," for two simple words, it can have a lot of different meaning, and I cover just about every one of them. I also explain how break can be used as a noun, verb, and adjective. I explain what blisters are, and briefly explain how to use "break down" and "break open."
