Dignity Health YRMC Receives Mayoral Proclamation

Local 5K and Halloween Festival Raises Nearly $15k for Local Foster Youth
The Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation is excited to announce the success of its Tenth Annual Costumes for Kids 5K and Halloween Festival, which took place on Saturday, October 26th, benefitting the county’s foster youth. Prescott Valley Police Prepare for Halloween
In preparation for Halloween, the Prescott Valley Police Department is conducting extensive extra traffic and DUI patrol on Thursday, October 31st. Overtime expenses for extra officers on the streets are provided through a grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. Due to heavier pedestrian traffic on October 31st, patrol officers will focus especially in high-pedestrian areas. Desert Financial Donates 430 Bikes to Foster Kids
Desert Financial Credit Union assembled 430 bicycles today for foster children in Arizona during an annual all-employee event. The bikes were donated to The Foster Alliance, an Arizona nonprofit that provides essentials to foster children throughout the state. This will be the largest bike donation ever received by the children’s nonprofit. Nearly 1,300 Desert Financial volunteers helped assemble the bikes. Fire managers on the Chino Valley Ranger District have planned prescribed fire activity starting Oct 8, 2204. The Chino Valley Ranger District is looking for opportunities to treat fuels across the district at several locations in the Chino Landscape Project Area. Wasson Peak and Muldoon Fires Update - Oct 3
Yesterday afternoon resources working on the Wasson Peak and Muldoon fires responded to a vehicle fire on Lincoln Ridge Road, north of Crown King that quickly moved into brush. Firefighters with the help of a helicopter quickly stopped the progression of the Lincoln Fire keeping its size to 3/10 of an acre. The Wasson Peak Fire, burning south of Crown King grew by one acre and is now 18 acres. Firefighters will continue securing the fire’s edge, begin mop-op and monitor interior fuels that will continue to consume for the next several days. Yesterday resources from Prescott National Forest responded to two separate fires near the community of Crown King. The Wasson Peak Fire, burning south of Crown King is 17 acres. Today firefighters will continue to put a line around the fire, securing the fire’s edge. Resources assigned: Prescott Hotshots, 2 – Type 2 crews, 1 – Engine and 2 Helicopters. A Piece of Prescott History Comes Home
In the 1940s, the ultimate summer racing event was found at the Prescott Downs Racetrack, located right in the center of downtown at the World’s Oldest Rodeo Grounds. Seeing the need for a starter gate, local Prescott businessmen Fred Schemmer, John Thompson, Jack Humes, Bruno Rezzonico, Les Mackin, Jack Whitney, Elmo Carr, and Shell Dunbar supplied the funds to build the gate for the sum of 0 each.
