Chapter 9: Darcy drops by ALONE, while Lizzy is also alone. Lizzy confronts him about he and the Bingleys leaving Netherfield. Charlotte decides Darcy is in love with Lizzy, and observes him fumbling at gatherings to figure out if it's real. Highlights include a pronunciation correction of Hertfordshire (shout out to friend of the pod Zach, as well as new listener Karin who wrote in post-recording-this-episode), an etymology of the phrase "of course" (available on our Patreon!), the sexiness of scooting a chair, and Darcy playing sports.Chapter 10: Lizzy's special secret walk isn't so secret. Darcy keeps "running into her" on her walk. She also goes for a very informative walk with Fitzy. Lizzy finds out that it wasn't Caroline who ruined Jane's happiness, but DARCY, and tries to figure out why. Highlights include a Darcy-getting-to-know-Lizzy montage, Fitzy SPILLING THE TEA on Darcy, and Lizzy giving herself a headache from crying.Chapter 11: HERE WE GO. Lizzy has a long think about all the reasons she hates Darcy. Then, Darcy arrives to check on her because he heard she has a headache. And then.........................PROPOSAGEDDON. Highlights include hardcore negging, Molly's unwitting spoiler, Lizzy listing every single reason why she has ever hated Darcy, just. just. just. so many zingers. Y'all. It's WILD. Some Shakespearean text analysis, and then Lizzy cries again. Jane Austen is brilliant. Study Questions: Topics include how this proposal is similar and different to her prior proposal experience, Nick Miller as Mr. Darcy, did Lizzy's words reach Darcy?, Darcy as the agent of Jane's misery, Georgie Darcy, the most famous scene in Jane Austen's works and why it's the best.Funniest quote: "She felt all the perverseness of the mischance that should bring him where no one else was brought, and, to prevent its ever happening again, took care to inform him at first that it was a favorite haunt of hers. How it could occur a second time, therefore, was very odd! Yet it did, and even a third."Questions moving forward: How does this affect the Bingley/Jane situation? What about Georgie?Who wins the chapter: Jane Austen! You wrote a heck of a scene.Glossary of Terms and Phrases:Penance (n): Voluntary self-punishment for having done wrong.Glossary of People: Matthew Lewis, Bonnie Wright, Evanna Lynch, D'arcy Carden, Webcomic Name, The Office, Nick MillerSupport for Pod and Prejudices comes from Well Read Company.
