Leadership begins between the ears, as Mark Cole points out in this second part of our Thought Boosters series. The Picture of Leadership (Part 2)
The Picture of Leadership (Part 2)
Leaders are creators. In last week’s episode of The John Maxwell Leadership Podcast, we discussed how leaders choose. This week, in Part 2 of this 3-part series, we’re talking about how leaders create. According to John, good leaders create four major things within their teams and organizations: confidence, strategy, ideas, and options. But, not only do great leaders create these four things; they foster an environment where others contribute to the creation process. Mark and Richard reflect on how this idea has helped their leadership and shaped their teams. They also challenge you this week to apply this principle by encouraging and boosting the confidence of someone within your team. In the final installment of the Blind Spot series, John Maxwell, Mark Cole, and Richard Chancy discuss how to remove leadership blinds spots. In this episode, we put this new knowledge to work for the betterment of our teams, our organizations, our relationships, and ourselves. We’ve learned throughout this series that a blind spot is “an area in the lives of people in which they continually do not see themselves or their situation realistically.” In this episode, Mark and Richard elaborate on John’s teaching in a transparent conversation about their own journeys to eliminate their leadership blind spots. Defining Leadership Blind Spots
Defining Leadership Blind Spots
In this first episode of our four-part series on leadership blind spots, John Maxwell, Mark Cole, and Richard Chancy define what a leadership blind spot is. Can leaders see their own blind spots? What indicators can leaders examine to identify and understand their own blind spots? Every leader has at least one blind spot, and the greater a leader’s influence, the greater the effect of that blind spot. For transformational leaders, one of the most profound assets for growth is an external perspective on one’s own leadership. Such a perspective allows us examine the areas in which we are not intuitive. But no leader can identify his/her blind spot alone. After all, it is called a blind spot. Identifying a blind spot requires consulting those around you for honest feedback. In this series, Mark asks a great question for those whom you lead and those who lead you: “What’s it like being on the other side of me?”  Our BONUS resource for the “Blind Spot” series is a worksheet on blind spots which you can fill in as you listen to each episode.
