A day in the life of a roller coaster rider. And by roller coaster rider, I mean actor. 

Maybe the connection between these two art forms is obvious but my own understanding and experience of it has developed slowly. Over time. It's a magical connection.

What's in my control and what's not? How an actor's reslience is fed by knowing the difference. 

Not a typo. I didn't mean my marvelous audtion. Or my marvel of an audition. Nope. It was an audition for a Marvel project. Here's what it meant to me. 

My message to my younger self? I don't have one. First, she wouldn't listen. Second, I don't want to change her. Or me. For better AND worse.

Auditioning. Often described as the worst thing ever. But it's one of the core elements of an actor's career, so how is describing it that way that helpful? My thoughts on reframing this.

Talking about regrets. And letting them go.

Unfettered: not controlled or restricted; free, unrestrained. Merriam-Webster  I don't want to wait until I'm 85 to feel free. I need to channel it now! 

Welcome back! Easing in with this episode. Reorienting to what the heck this is all about.

I've been preparing for this new beginning for a few months. Here are some of the thoughts.

A Thanksgiving ramble. Gratitude abounds.

Chances are slim. That's what is said to almost anyone who wants to "make it" as an actor. Discouraging talented artists. Smothering creative spirits. Maybe that can be changed.

Maybe you can make a life leap without the support of friends, but you won't survive that leap without the support of friends. 

After leaving a career where I was so comfortable, I had a moment of not knowing who I was anymore. That feeling recurs every once in a while. Especially when I up the ante in my work and/or training. But with each experience, I bounce back faster, with more confidence. Finding my way.

What we're taught as children vs what we're taught as actors.
