Major Spoilers #30: Crisis on Infinite Podcasts - Epilogue

This time out, we got crises, we got kudos, we got barbarians, we got chainmail bikinis, and while Stephen and Matthew flashback to 1985, Rodrigo nods and thinks about larping… We got a little love for the alien penis beast (and really, who need more love than the alien penis beast?) we got a little love for the floppy pamphlet (which actually sounds dirtier than alien penis beast) but most of all, we got a little love for Uncle Barry, Cousin Kara, and even the late, lamented Ten-Eyed Man. Strap on your rocket pack, straighten your cape, and prepare yourself for a new post-Crisis reality, where Matthew’s only one-tenth as strong, but Stephen’s cape is twice as long, and for some reason, Rodrigo has a hook for a hand, the Major Spoilers podcast is on the air! Trade Paperback Review Crisis on Infinite Earths (from the wiki) Crisis on Infinite Earths is a twelve-issue American comic book limited series (identified as a "12-part maxi-series") and crossover event, produced by DC Comics in 1985 to simplify their then-55-year-old continuity. The series was written by Marv Wolfman, and illustrated by George Pérez (pencils/layouts), with Mike DeCarlo, Dick Giordano, and Jerry Ordway (who shared inking/embellishing chores). The series eliminated the concept of the Multiverse in the fictional DC Universe, and depicted the deaths of such long-standing superheroes as Supergirl and the Barry Allen incarnation of the Flash. Linkage Review: The Foundation #3 Stephen reviews the third issue of the Foundation from Boom! Studios, and likes it very much. There are still some art issues, and the pacing is a bit slow in places, but when the good parts arrive - look out! Review: War is Hell: The First Flight of the Phantom Eagle Rodrigo take a look at the first issue of Marvel's Phantom Eagle. It certainly isn't the same Phantom Eagle from the Golden and Silver Ages of comics. A gritty look at the first world war and the pilots that flew in it. Review: Pendant Productions Batman: Ace of Detectives Instead of reading comics all day, listeners may want to check out radio dramas with superhero bent. Pendant Productions spins tales of the current incarnation of Batman and company into serialized radio dramas. Stephen and Rodrigo both think the radio dramas need work - especially in the area of voice acting, but true fans might enjoy listening to the two plus years o shows. Major Spoilers Gamma: Boom!

NEWS 1) Akira - the live action movie The panel is mixed on the idea of a live action movie based on Akira and set in New Manhattan. Linkage 2) Batman: Gotham Knights Direct to DVD gets release date Bryan, Stephen, and Rodrigo are really excited about the July 8th release date of the DVD, although Bryan thinks it may be too close to the release of the Dark Knight movie. Linkage 3) Skrulls Interesting ads to say the least Linkage Tiny Review Bryan sits down with his son, and together they review the first issue of DC's Tiny Titans. While Jackson likes it, he's not sure he would spend his allowance on a subscription, but it was fun to read. Stephen and Bryan then have a discussion on comics for kids and why the current run of Justice League Unlimited doesn't work for younger readers. Review: The Foundation Created by Kody Chamberlain Written by John Rozum Art by Chee Cover by Paul Azaceta Bryan and Stephen love The Foundation from Boom! Studios - Rodrigo not so much. There is just enough mystery and intrigue in the first two issues, that they will continue to read the rest of the series. Stephen and Bryan award high marks, but Rodrigo's critique brings the overall rating down to 3 out of 5 stars. Question of the Week If you had to choose one of the following super powers, which would it be? a) Flight b) Super Speed c) Super Strength d) Invulnerability Head over to Major Spoilers and cast your vote! Trade Paperback Review: Left on Mission Written by Chip Mosher Drawn by Francesco Francavilla Colored by Martin Thomas The panel had nothing but good things to say about the five issue mini-series from Boom! Studios. From the art to the story telling, this issue rates as a strong read by all. Don't go into Left on Mission thinking this is going to be your typical James Bond story - it's much better! Rodrigo, Bryan, and Stephen give the trade paperback 4 out of 5 stars. This turned into the Boom! Studios episode as Bryan also gave a mini review of Second Wave, and says that if these are the kinds of stories coming from Boom! Studios, this is a company to watch.
