On the evening of July 13, 2023, New York, authorities took into custody Rex Heuermann of Massapequa, Long Island. The architect was arrested in connection with what has been called the Long Island Serial killer case. Since late 2010, the remains of at least 10 people have been found on Gilgo Beach. The investigation first began when a young woman by the name of Shannan Gilbert disappeared. While investigators were searching for Gilbert, they found the other remains.
