I came here looking for answers after a Diné elder vanished in the dead of night.
My first instinct is, what do you mean she's missing?She doesn't just go missing.She just doesn't go leave and not say anything.
But I soon found something else.A tangled web of violence and retaliation.
That's what it is.It's about survival.Look around.You never know what you're going to find because there's a lot of killing going on in this area.
People know you can get away with murder out there. Here, seeking justice can mean taking matters into your own hands.
Around here, the aunties get shit done.We go places where people don't want to go.Families who are like, I know who did it, and police aren't doing anything, and I could easily go over there and just get rid of him myself.
