I'm Peter Schacht, now CNBC.Stocks are mostly higher following record closes Thursday for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq.The Dow higher by 78 points at 43,807.It has set an intraday record high in the process.
The S&P 500 10 points up 0.2% and the Nasdaq gaining 0.1% or about 17.5 points after starting out lower.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq have been up the past three sessions in a post-election rally and continued to rise following the Fed's latest quarter-point rate cut yesterday.
Former Fed Vice Chairman Roger Ferguson says it's difficult to determine right now what the Fed's monetary policy might look like under a Trump administration.
I think Chairman Powell handled it very well.He said, effectively, it is a wait and see.We have to see exactly what the policies are.
Then he said that what they would do is what you'd expect them to do, which is to put into their model, which is the best of the U.S.economy, and then make decisions.
Among stocks on the move this morning, DraftKings down two and a half percent.The sports betting company is falling after it reported weaker than expected quarterly earnings as betting volume fell.It also cut its full year outlook.
Restaurant chain Sweetgreen tumbling 15.6 percent, Sweetgreen recording a wider-than-expected quarterly loss.
Another restaurant-related stock is rallying, however, Toast, which provides software platforms for restaurants, jumping 11.7 percent following strong quarterly results and upbeat guidance.Peter Schacht now, CNBC.
