Yeah, lots going on in that world.Nobody better to tell you about it than Hot Week. The Mayhem Miller, yeah.Yeah, Hot Week, what's going on?
Hot Week, a lot of smack talk out there.Shara Mega-Madoff, a.k.a.Bullet, he is, if you're not like a hardcore MMA fan, you probably might have just seen this guy with his highlight double spinning back fist.
It's a weird like karate kind of Dagestani kata technique that you would think. You see the kids doing it in the videos of Dagestan. They throw like a kick, and then they throw a back fist, and then another back fist. And you're like, yeah, right.
That shit only works out in the movies.Well, check it out. This shit worked in real life.Wow, all right.
We're looking at it.We're looking at it now.Throws like a front ball kick.
A little side kick, right?Side kick from your opponent.
Boom, boom.Oh, wow.That is crazy.
It's one of those it should only work in the movies But that that worked out that Armenian guy that he was fighting was pretty tough Gave him some trouble in the first round his hand up for the first block, but the second block you can't get your hand That's why that's why it worked
See, he had his right hand up, he blocked it because he saw it, but then you don't see the second one coming, which is crazy.
It lulls you in a false sense of security because you had already blocked one, so you figure, ah, nothing's coming next.Right, right.
And the strange technique worked. That is impressive. It's always great when somebody pulls off something crazy like running up the side of the cage and throwing a Superman punch. or just something you haven't seen before.
The next generation is coming.I mean, I got some guys in the room that do the weirdest stuff.I'm like, yeah, right.Like, I feel like the old timer now like, oh, yeah, you want to stick to the basics. But that stuff sells tickets right there.
I don't I don't talk guys out of it.But not only that, if you watch something like skateboarding and what the guys were doing on a half pipe 25 years ago, they go to the top, they do a kick turn, they come back down.
Now it's 14 feet of air and a 980 and the kid's 11.So it just keeps going.
Building upon itself.Well, the interesting thing about this guy, Shara Magomedov, you should remember the name because the guy is very excited.One-eyed bandit. First of all, got like one milky white eye that's just... Can he see out of it?
Yeah, he can see out of it, but it's creepy looking. It's pretty crazy beard, crazy hair, crazy style of fighting. But there he is right there.
But let me ask you this about the beard. They'll say that guy's got a good chin. That means hard to knock out.And then they'll go, that guy's got whiskers or something. But they're not talking about a beard. They're just saying a good chin.
You're dealing with three ounce gloves?
Yeah, two, three, two, four ounce, I've heard it called.Oh, let me look at four ounce, okay.
The point is, there's a big difference in boxing between eight ounce gloves and ten ounce gloves, you know, and the punchers want the lighter one and they argue over it.But the point is, a couple ounces makes a difference.
Guys with the big bushy beard, that's collecting impact.
Oh, I'm glad you say that.I thought you were about to say that it doesn't matter. It matters. It's something different.
There is an absorption rate of energy that if you're throwing an uppercut and the guy's got a big Mennonite beard,
you hit that thing four inches away from the guy's actual chin is where you make the first contact and then by the time you get to the actual chin there is some compaction right there. Now listen
This is, you know, it's a sport of millimeters, you know, you know what I mean? But it is absorbing some of the punch.
Somebody Mythbusters style on YouTube did this exact experiment that you're referring to put like a pressure plate and a bunch of like hair and he Yeah, he did it, but this guy is getting, his beard is getting up.What was the outcome?
The outcome was, yeah, makes a big difference.Or makes some difference. No, big.Big.Like, not, you know, tremendous, like a pile of foam, but definitely an observable difference.Right, all right. It disperses the impact throughout those fibers.
All right, so then there should be a three-quarter inch minimum. You can have a beard, but it can't be a big beard. You're right. And if you don't like it, well, first off, shave it off, then have the fight, then grow it back out.
I remember in wrestling, we had to have a clean shaved face.Oh, really?Which I thought was strange, because I was just finally growing a couple of pubes on my lip.Whose pubes?Your neighbor's pubes?Yeah, definitely.
She was great. All right.Oh.I was saying, I was pretending like it was a dude.I got it.You got it.OK.Listen. Here's what I think.I don't like all the guys playing baseball with all their stupid chains hanging out all over the place. What's his name?
Chisholm on the Yankees has like a big medallion swinging around.Listen. First off, diamonds.Hardest surface in the world. You're right, yeah. You know how you cut porcelain with a diamond blade.High on the Mohs scale, I believe.
Diamonds are what you use to burrow through granite.Okay, so now you have silver encrusted with diamonds, and you're going head first into third base, and the guy's got his wrist down there. Shit could happen. You know what I'm saying?
And in football, too, with the big cross.Like, what's with the big metallic thing that could puncture a lung?
So you're saying chin protection is out for MMA and how to throw the leagues? All right, here's what I'm saying.
No chains or medallions on the field, at football, baseball, whatever. It'll stay in the locker room.Yeah.OK.Or wherever you want it. You're not having chains.Like Mookie Betts has like a whole Mr. T thing out there.
Okay, if you're pitching, there used to be a rule with your pitcher, you couldn't have like a red glove.Oh yeah?Yeah, they had rules.
I don't remember that, yeah.
Oh, like when I played Little League and stuff, once in a while some kid would get out there and they had like a green glove, and then the other coach would complain, and the umpire would come out.
You can't have a colored mitt, or it used to not be allowed.Too distracting. Why do you have all these bass lures hanging from your neck? So, that's out.Chains are out.Football, baseball, out.Okay, MMA, beard, out.Or beard, well, no, five eighths.
I'll give you five eighths.I'm not giving you five inches.I'll give you five eighths of an inch.Okay, that's out.Okay, baseball.
all your junk, all the armor you put on your front elbow and all your shin guards and all that crap you have to undo yourself, like you're stepping out of MMA training with the shin guards and the chest protector and everything.
You can wear it or you cannot wear it, but you can't wear it and then take it off and then go to first base after the walk. If you want to put it on, put it on, but you wear it, well we're in the field of play. We're in the field of play.
You're not allowed to dress and undress. And then you go to first base and they give you some mittens for running.
Once you're on the field, you're on the field. You want to wear the mittens, then you wear them batting.
Coming from NMA, I always thought that the baseball player should fight the guy at first base.Oh yeah, I would watch that.He has to defend it, you have to fight him off to the base.
I don't know if I'm going to be able to get that pass. Protective gear, optional, but not removable once you've entered the field of play. You must wear that.
So you've got to run the whole bases, Ace, with the whole equipment on?No, you don't have to.Don't wear it.Oh, there's Mookie. He's got a giant medallion.
I mean, I'm looking at Joe Prentum. He had a very close play at third base where he's reaching down and the guy's going head first.Isn't there a... Situation where his diamond blade could slit someone's wrist or something?
Okay, so no to that. Also, no to wearing weird off-color stuff like a lot of the Yankees had like orange shoes and yellow shoes and pink shoes. No, no, you're the Yankees. You have a color palette. You choose from that color palette.
You don't wear your own colored cleats.Same with NBA.They're just wearing all their own funky colors. You have team colors. You wear those colors. And in football, it's now out of control, the mouthpiece.
I see guys with green mouthpieces on the Atlanta Falcons. You have to pick the color of your team for your mouthpiece. Hey, I'm Adam Kroll. That's Brad Williams and Jay Leno.Hey, buddy.Over there, we're doing our third annual Comedy Fantasy Camp.
That's going to be January 23rd through the 26th, right in Hollywood, California.Where else would it be?These guys are going to be there.
So remember, two out of every three comments, make it big.
Or one and a half.Do I get paid for this? Please tell me I get paid for this.Go to ComedyFantasyCamp.com and get in on the fun.
Well, Magomedov has called out Israel Adesanya. So back to Ebermeyer.Yeah, that's what's happening. And it's an exciting fight between two strikers.People are calling for it.And Adesanya, he came off that loss.
Where's Magomedov ranked?
Pretty high odds.I don't know. I think he's not in the top 10, to be honest. You don't think he's in the top 10?I don't think so, no.I don't know where he changed, but right before we came on air, I didn't check. But he's calling that Madison.
He's calling that Madison. It would be a money fight.I don't think he's ready for that. You don't?No, I don't.I think that, honestly, he would try to take him down. I think that would be the smart play, yeah.
Yeah, it's just real hard to deal with slick.Slick is the hardest thing to deal with.
But the thing is, what we did see versus Du Plessis, Adesanya kind of looked human. He looked a bit human.Yeah, he did.He kind of got tired in the fight. You know, friend of the show, Adesanya. But the reality of the situation is we all get older.
And during that fight, he dominated the whole fight until he lost the step.
And yeah, yeah, but also he those guys reminds me of Damn, what's the bald legends name Anderson Anderson Silva?Yeah even Muhammad Ali a little bit those guys lose Sometimes because they get bored and they're almost screwing around You know what?
Like they're not sticking with the plan and keeping the hands high I think one of the part of part of that was the the fact that the Adesanya was
just dominating so easily, and then, but he's so used to being able to step so effortlessly, and as he's gotten older, the reality of the situation, you don't step quite as lightly as you did.
No, I get it, but if somebody said, look, you're up three rounds to nothing, just stay away from this guy for two rounds, it'll get your hand raised, and I'm sorry the crowd's not gonna like it, but just do it.If he just said, okay, I'll do it.
But he won't. They won't, and they have to, I don't say showboat, but they hot dog a little bit, you know, and then they get into trouble. But that's what slick guys do.You know, Jerry Corey, 190-pound white guy, hands up, elbows in, you know.
Coughin' buckets.Yeah, his dad taught him, you know.
All right, we got more talkity talk.Where's the beef here?Derek Lewis, you know this guy, the balls are hot.He randomly trashes scumbag Daniel Cormier. He's a piece of shit, he says.Really?Yeah, I know.I've never heard anyone say anything about DC.
And look, the article that they handed me doesn't have anything of note.Is he trying to get him out of retirement or something?Kinda, yeah. And all Lewis said was, he knows why, he knows why.
But I think I know because I listened to, I remember watching a Derrick Lewis fight that D.C.was calling. And I think during the calling of that fight, he kind of denigrated Derrick Lewis a little bit.He kind of talked a little smack.
Not in an overt way, but I put myself in the mind of an active fighter. And if I were to hear D.C.say this about me during the fight, I would get mad.And we got something here. Here we go.OK.
D.C., proud D.C., man, because I'm still not sitting right with me, man.I don't know, man.Do people really like D.C.like that? I don't know if DC will come back to play. What would you challenge him?I told him.I told DC in his face, man.
That guy a piece of shit. He's a piece of shit.Scumbag, man.Fuck DC. Do you want to elaborate on that a little bit more?He know why.DC knows why?Yeah, DC know why.And everyone know why, too.He disrespect that Popeye's chicken.
But other than that, he's a piece of shit.
He disrespect the chicken? The Popeye's chicken, yeah, yeah.Well, DC's gotta be. 42 yeah, I like I ushered Lewis is a big big dude.
Yeah, Derek Lewis is a monster He's like the current, you know knockout artists of the heavyweight division He's like one of them guys, but he just can't get past the top five he's one of those guys that has his sort of certain set of skills and when he runs into guys who have
the complimentary set of skills, a little better wrestling, a little better jujitsu, then he kind of falls flat.More cardio, then he falls flat. But he's excellent. He's a crowd favorite. One of those guys, knockout machine.
If he gets in there with the right guy, he can pretty much damage any heavyweight on the right night.
No, he's great and fun to watch, and that's why we know his name, but it never seems like he can, and I don't know where he's ranked right now, but it just doesn't seem like he can crack that top five.
He doesn't get to the elite part.I coach fighters, it's so hard to even, like, lightweights, it's hard to get them to listen and change their game.I can't imagine.
coaching a 260-pound monster like Lewis and trying to convince him, play the mental game to convince him, oh, hey, bud, we got to do wrestling if he doesn't want to do wrestling.Right.Lewis, 39, and DC, 45.Legends of the game match, huh?
Yeah, well, so I don't think there's anything for DC to come out of retirement for that fight. There's a payday, but anything, there's nothing else. There's just a potential tarnishing of a legacy. And possible injury, you know?
And possible, yes.DC's coming off the couch.Come off the couch to fight that monster?Gotta be a big payday. All right, one more. Yeah, we got, you know, John Jones agrees to anger management class to resolve his charges.
If you remember, back a little while ago, the testers came to test John Jones at his house. He was taking a nap during a party at his house.During a party.During a party, he was taking a nap.
Are you ever taking a nap during a party or are you passed out? Listen, I'm just reporting the news.
I'm taking a few naps during parties, but that's me imbibing a little too much, a little too early, and a little too often.
This kind of sounds like what was going on.And he got fired up, I guess, and allegedly cussed him out or whatever, but then had video footage of him high-fiving the drug testers on the way out.So it's really murky whatever the hell happened.
You went to anger management, right?I did, yeah.Did it work? I mean, I'm definitely better at calming down before things get fired up.That's for sure.
But if you remember, it was in December of 2019, and I had just probably made out with a COVID monkey. And right after that, I had to go into a room and take a deep breath in, hold, and then blow it out right in everybody's face.
Has anyone ever voluntarily attended an anger management session or is it all mandated because there's got there's people. voluntarily go to AA meetings, and then there's court-mandated AA meetings after your third DUI.
And that may split the room 50-50, but anger management is 100%.Somebody told you you had to go, otherwise you're going to get fired or jailed. You're not wrong. tend to make the C to have an angry group, you know?
Because the AA group, whenever you're forced to go somewhere, you sit there with your arms folded.I guess for me it'd be sexual harassment classes, like I just sit there going, Jesus Christ, can we get this the fuck over with? All right, well.
Do you feel like... Hey, that one last thing, though, that Champ DDP, he wants to fight Kuzmet Chemayev. So, you know, when Adesanya was... Diamond Dallas Page just getting into the octagon? No, Strikas Du Plessis.Du Plessis.Yeah, yeah.
So, you know, when Adesanya was here, he was adamant that Sean Strickland was getting that next title fight. But Du Plessis is saying, hey, I want to fight Kuzmet Chemayev. So Kuzmet's like...
You know doing some big things and has really showed up recently and has become a big star And now what fight would you rather say? I mean, look, I'm all about some Strickland.Like, that's a fun one.I love his pressers.Yeah, exactly.Me too.
But yeah, I mean, I will say Kazimat has really proven himself to be an exciting and dominant force at 185.He's the force right now.So yeah, I don't know.Whoever the UFC picks, either way, I win.
You'll be happy. All right. That's it for now.I'm Adam Carolla. That is Jason Mayhem Miller. And we'll see you next week.
