I'm a little bit of a footballer, but I've been waiting a long time for this moment.
This is the Countdown to Kickoff on ESPN Radio.
One hour away from counting down to kickoff here on this aptly named show on ESPN Radio, Matt Jones, David Dennis, presented by Progressive Insurance.
Right now in jolly old England, Jacksonville leads the Patriots 25 to 16, a nine-point lead, four minutes to go, but the Patriots are gonna get the ball, although inside their 10-yard line. It'll be tough for them to come back.
It's still a two-possession game. But in the battle of one in five teams, Jacksonville is up nine. We're getting the inactives in at this point. No huge news yet, but we do know Will Levis will not play for the Titans.
Now the Eagles and the Giants play today. In New York, and the Eagles are a three-point favorite.Of course, this is the return of Saquon Barkley back to the Giants stadium.A lot of debate about what the reaction's gonna be.
Saquon himself says he's not sure, but he doesn't think he'll be booed.
I said I don't expect to get booed, and I was meaning more of like, this rivalry's so much bigger than what happened. in the offseason between me and the Giants were hard knocks. It's been going on for a really long time.
I've been on the other side, and I know how Giants fans feel.I don't know what the environment is going to be like, but I'm excited. As a player, as a competitor, you kind of welcome those environments and those moments.
So whatever it is, hopefully it gives me a little extra juice.
All right, so number one, David, do you think Saquon Barkley gets booed in his return? And number two, do you think he should?
No and no, you should not boo this dude. The team didn't want him.You know, like he wanted to stay there. The team didn't want him and he moved on.Like, I think if anybody should be booed, it should be the front office. It should be Daniel Jones.
It should be the team that let this guy go.Daniel Jones.Cause this guy's not good.Just boo this guy.Cause he stinks at football right now as a quarterback, he's not been playing well. That's who you boo.
But in terms of if you're gonna boot directly this about Saquon Barkley is the Giants because they you know I think this year this offseason has been a referendum on how we talk about running backs, right?
There was this idea that running backs were you know, just you just plug in any running back if you have a good enough offense and I think Saquon Barkley Derrick Henry guys like that have shown that no actually there is a difference between having a great running back and a good running back somebody feel like you plug in and the Giants were part one of those teams that just this
Yeah, but I think you mentioned the only two that it matters, and those are Hall of Famers. But with that said, let me go back to the booing. He theoretically shouldn't be booed, because I agree with you, he didn't do anything wrong.
But of course he should be booed. It's a rivalry.Booing is actually a sign of respect. You boo because he plays for the Eagles. When Rick Pitino walked into Rupp Arena as the coach of Louisville, you booed him because he's at Louisville.
That's what you do.You cheer him maybe down the road, but you boo him at that moment, and you should boo Saquon Barkley not because he's a bad person, but he's playing for the Eagles, so of course you boo him.
I think we're sort of splitting hairs. There's a difference between a universal team boo and a directed boo at the player.Individual boo to him.
No, you don't like there's a booing like when you're watching the NBA game every time that like what Kevin Durant goes back to OKC every time he touched the ball they booed as loud as humanly possible.
They are booing directly at Kevin Durant right and football is a little different. You don't really know when the guy is going to get the ball and all that stuff. But you do I think you boo the overall egos.
You don't just yell booing at saquon barkley when he's a i'm sure they're gonna Are they gonna play a video they're gonna do a video for?
Okay, so so here's what all right No, I wouldn't move for the video. So what I would do, I think that's a great point Play the video at the beginning of the game Give him a round of applause at that moment.
Okay, I respect that's your moment of saying I respect what you did here After that, he is an eagle. And as the best eagle player, I am always, if I'm a Giants fan, booing the best eagle player.
And just because you happen to have been here, hey, before the game, after the game, we can be friends.During the game, I am booing you because that is where you are.It is a sign of respect for the rivalry, which is bigger than any one person.
Can I make an aside here?Yes.The video tributes.I think we've jumped the shark on video tributes. You don't like them.I think that Saquon Barkley absolutely deserves a video tribute.Okay.Okay.
However, there are some times when you have a, just because you get traded does not mean that you should get a video tribute for the- Well, so how good do you have to be to get a video tribute?
Omar Cooper should not be getting a video tribute for when the next time he goes to Cleveland. That's the thing.I mean, you know, like, that's what I'm talking about here.Like, does Devontae Adams get a video tribute when he goes next time?
I think when he goes to Green Bay, yes. When he goes to Oakland, maybe not.
But the thing is we're in we're in a part in all of leagues I think the NBA is the worst culprit of this all of these leagues where you just have these video tributes Every time a former player comes back.
There is a poor intern who is out there making a video tribute of a power forward who averaged 2.7 points a game and he's trying to find a something where they make a bucket and they're making a video tribute.I'm over it.I'm over the video tributes.
Let's say you were to take a job at the Athletic.Wouldn't you want, when you returned to ESPN, to get a video tribute on Around the Horn or something for all of your work?
Well, I'm a Hall of Fame member of Around the Horn, first of all, so of course I deserve a video tribute. It's not like I'm Courtney Cronin out here, you know what I'm saying?I'm a star on this show, you know what I'm saying?Hold on, though.
If I remember, you weren't ranked as a top 10 member of Around the Horn?
Well, that's a travesty, obviously.Nobody watches Awful Announcing.Nobody reads Awful Announcing.Who cares?I don't even know those guys.Wow!So you think Awful Announcing is awful?I don't even know if that's a real website.
Sounds like some guy with a blog.I don't even know what that place is.Never heard of it before in my life.Never heard of Courtney Cronin before in my life either, but that's a whole other story. These people, like, I'm just saying.
I'm saying I would deserve video tribute But like a lot of these other people, a lot of folks go out there, they don't deserve video tributes. You have to have done something with the team.
I don't know when it started, but the video tributes, the Jersey swaps, all of these things, you don't like the Jersey. You got to earn it.
You're sounding like a 75 year old man, by the way, right now, who says, you know, in my day, you didn't shake hands with the player after the game.Like what?
Yeah, in my day, which was like two years ago, you had to earn a video tribute. Now, everybody gets a video tribute.Nick, you're a Giants fan.
Is Hardenstein gonna get a video tribute when it goes back to the Knicks?I hope he does.I'd like a Hardenstein tribute.Nick, you're a Giants fan.Do you think Saquon gets booed?
Before I give my answer, I will say Dante DiVincenzo came back for a preseason game and got a tribute last week.Come on.
What are we doing here?Yeah, that's a little much.
But about Saquon, I mean, it's tough because he did go to the rival. So I do agree with you. He's an eagle. But also, David, you said it like the Giants didn't want him back. What is he supposed to do?
Like take less money so he can be like, I don't think he should get booed, but I think he's going to get the life.
Would you boo him if you were at the game?
I don't understand booing so I would never really boo an athlete. What? What does it do?Oh yeah, I'm not gonna boo you.
Wait a minute, you've never booed anyone?
No, it's a stupid fan thing. So Yankees play the Red Sox.You've booed a ref before.
Yankees play the Red Sox.Pedro Martinez on the mound. You're not booing him?
No, I just don't boo people, it's not what I do. I'm trying to spread love.We don't need to boo people. No, I hate that.
You say we a lot because I'm just so excited that we're going to the World Series.
He's been buying Yankees merchandise like nine while you guys have been doing the show in the World Series.
Look I am very pro booing. All right. As a Kentucky fan when Bruce Pearl walks in here.Boo.Mike Krzyzewski walks in here.Boo.You boo.You boo the opposing people. That's what you do.Shane Beamer South Carolina. Boo.Have you ever booed your own coach?
No, because it's college. If it was pro, I might. But with college, I don't feel right booing college kids. But I'll boo the coach, David.Like, there's no doubt about that.OK.You wouldn't boo your own?Have you booed your own coach?
I don't think I have, but there's a couple moments that if I had been in the right frame of mind.
Because also, I don't think the players on the court are being like, oh no, those boos are for the coach, they're not for me.
No, because I would boo them, I would boo when they announce the coach's name, you know, and then you'd be like, Oh, boo.So I'm pro-booing.I think sports, David, are about booing. It's, it is, you're picking your team versus the other.Boo them.
Don't boo them.Like when it's over, if they're walking down the street, David, and you boo them, that's bad.
But in the arena of sports, I think you boo.If you don't boo officials, there's something wrong with you.
Everyone, you gotta boo, you gotta boo refs. But of all people, I agree with you, I've booed officials. If you were in the Texas crowd yesterday, you're booing the refs.
But of all people though, the refs to me are like, they're like the least culpable.Like they're just, they're getting paid like 1 20th of the other people.
Yeah, they're still, you know what I boo? What? Those videos, those tribute videos, I'm booing the whole time I'm doing a tribute video.
The Dante DiVincenzo tribute made you upset.Anyway, we'll see what happens.Saquad, actually it'll be any minute here soon when he may or may not get booed. Now the Bengals, right down the street from me, they've struggled this year.
But they're not the worst team in Ohio. That has been Cleveland. But Cleveland has kind of owned the Bengals.Bengals are two and four. You win today, you get to three and four. Will they be able to break their continued malaise against the Browns?
That's next here on ESPN Radio.
From the first pitch of the wildcard. The pitch. It's a total different atmosphere. This is the best part of baseball.
Until a World Series champion is crowned. The Texas Rangers are World Series champs hit every pitch of Major League Baseball's postseason right here on ESPN Radio.Matt and Myron the podcast.
Tank Bigsby ran for 117 yards and Jacksonville has scored again and they will now beat the Patriots 32 to 16 in London.Jacksonville will go to two and five, the New England Patriots to one and six.
Are the Patriots, David, uh, the worst team in the NFL?
I think so.Even though. My New Orleans Saints are knocking on that door.
Well, they won week one, the Patriots, against the Bengals, but have lost every game since then.
Yeah, I think they're the Saints in terms of how you look now.The Saints' performance against the Denver Broncos was one of the worst performances of the season. They look like they're in a full-on mutiny against their coach right now.
If all the teams had to play this week, I would probably put the Saints right there with the New England Patriots as well as with this team in Ohio.
Well, Jacksonville will go back from their home away from home with a victory. They are going to beat the Patriots up 32 to 16 right now.We talked about the Bengals who lost one.
They're going to get some good food when they come back.
You and the food.Bengals play today against the Browns, 1 o'clock Eastern.Cincinnati's a six-point favorite.Browns have been absolutely falling apart. But let's talk just for a second about the Bengals before we do the Browns.
Joe Burrows, one in five against the Browns. That's the most losses he's had against any team since he's been in the NFL, which is kind of a crazy statistic. The Bengals are two and four. They feel like they should be better than that.Probably.
I mean, they'd be three and three if they hadn't lost in that first round or first game to the Patriots.Do you feel like the Bengals, let's assume that, I mean, they win today, there'll be three and four.
I mean, do you still feel like they're a team to watch or are you dismissing them as a contender?
i'm just that you know it's wild about this joe burrow has more wins against the chiefs leaders against the browns that that correct yes that's true that's crazy uh... you know i'm dismissing the the bangles because it is not because of joe burrow that defense is put together some of the worst performances of a defense that we have seen uh... this season like that is that they've been historically bad defense given up tons of yards given up tons of points have kind of got a little better last week's they start the season i don't trust that defense
At all and as well as joe burrow is playing.
I don't think he can overcome that The defense has been really really bad and there's also been injuries I mean, they didn't have t higgins that jamar chase sat out early in the year that couldn't have helped.I never liked the vibes around the team
But I also would say this, he's not Mahomes, but there is a sense that with Joe Burrow, I can't say they're done when you have a guy like that.
I mean, they have so many weapons on offense that I don't feel like you could just dismiss the Bengals chances. They get a bye after this week, you know, their schedule. their schedule opens up a little bit after this week.I don't know.
I'm not, I'm not ready to count them out yet, even though I wouldn't put them amongst the top class of contenders.I mean, the rest of their schedule got the Browns and they play an Eagles team. Not very good.Play a Raiders team. Not very good.
Then they get the Ravens. That's always a tough matchup for them.Chargers, Steelers, a Cowboys team that doesn't look very good. The Titans, the Browns.I mean, there's there's a way to go on a run here if you're Cincinnati.
yeah i mean that the the benefit is that schedule the rest of that division has a do you start this is the tenth uh... top ten of thirteen from top ten devon tough schedule the browns obviously stink uh... and the defense is going to look really good today
As bad as we talk about the defense, they're going to look like the 85 Bears today because they're playing against the worst quarterback in the league. So that's going to help them out tremendously.
But I just do not trust them when it comes to playing against a good offense.Joe Burrow cannot overcome that by himself. He's had incredible shootouts where the defense let him down.
Look at the game against the Commanders, where Joe Burrow played about as well as he played all season. And they just could not garner a stop at all that whole entire time.
Let's talk a second about the worst quarterback you've ever seen, Deshaun Watson.I mean, he's been really bad.You could take numbers. He's under 200 passing yards in all six games this season. He's the only quarterback to do so.
He's had a couple of the lowest quarterback ratings of any performances in history this year. yet they're still starting him.And I always hear people say, well, I mean, they're stuck.Look at what they're paying him.
But let's just assume you're paying him that and you can't get out of it.You don't have to play him, do you?
no you don't and and and and it's telling that they're still playing i mean i don't know why they're still playing this guy bench him sit em send em home do something but uh... i mean i don't know why they're sticking with it that the upside is gone whatever they thought they were getting from this dude that made them sign him in the first place that made them feel as though they could break every single through record in terms of signings uh... for a guy who has a troubled history to say the least
to the point where they're begging for some sort of allegation to come out they can get rid of him uh... for uh... you know uh... get rid of that contract but there's still plenty for everything that we're i don't understand
You know, we have a league that is full of players that have these locker room issues like that, that the locker room revolts when you start quarterbacks for too long, right? We've seen that with Russell Wilson. We've seen that with other teams.
And I'm wondering why this Browns team has not had that same sort of reaction to having to play with Deshaun Watson. Why do you think it is?
I think that's a fair question. Why do you think that that hasn't happened? Is there. You know, if you were to turn on the media at any given point, there's probably no player.
I mean, even Aaron Rodgers looks like a likable person next to Deshaun Watson. Why do you think that we haven't seen that kind of revolt?Because you're right, that does happen in football quite a bit.
yet i don't know i mean uh... of the belief that there should probably been revolted so they signed this dude because of like you don't want to share a locker room with a certain type of guy uh... but that's beside the you know not not exactly talk about your i'm not sure why we have not had the situation where the players are saying look
This dude is torpedoing our season.Last year we had Joe Flacco. We had a great defense. We made the playoffs without this guy.And now we're looking at the worst quarterback that literally we have ever seen. And we play for the Browns.
And he's the worst quarterback we've ever seen. And he is the single most, like if you look at every single team in the league, right? We talked about the Bengals defense, right? We talked about, you know, something like the Patriots offensive line.
We've talked about all of these problems, these flaws. The biggest burden, the biggest flaw that any team in the league has that is the most consequential is Deshaun Watson at quarterback for the Browns.
There is no single entity in this sport that is causing a team more games than Deshaun Watson at the Browns.
And I am baffled by the fact that you don't have a locker room, which they have strong players in locker room, strong personalities in locker room, that they are not going to the code and saying this guy cannot be our quarterback.
Yeah, because their defense is still good. I mean, that's the thing is their defense is still good. They get, don't they get Chuck back today? Is that right? So you get Chuck back today.I'm surprised by it as well.
But, you know, it kind of is it is what it is.But it is a very surprising thing to me.Let's go to the the Steelers tonight. Also in the division. You mentioned Russell Wilson, he kind of got ran out in his previous places.
What do you expect to see from him tonight?
that's the question i i think i expect to see russell wilson uh... i am holding out i'm i'm like sort of the last guy who because of russell wilson has anything left in the tank i think that he can play decently just as well as justin field has been playing and i think it's worth it to give it a shot because tomlin knows at some point
you're going to have a defense that struggles and you're going to need a game where a quarterback can pull you out of that and i think the potential to do that we've seen russell wilson do that before we've not seen justin fields be able to do that so i think it's worth giving him a shot on the flip side if he struggles i think he can get pulled in that first half do you have russell wilson a video tribute uh... in seattle
I mean, he should, he won a Super Bowl there. All right, what about in Denver?
Would you give him a video tribute there?
No, but I don't think Denver, I don't think, I think that's the one case where the organization is not going to give a video tribute. You think that's the line?Russell Wilson in Denver is the line.
Russell Wilson is not going to get a video tribute in Denver, as long as Sean Payton is there, I would tell you that.
Well, there might be boos tonight in Pittsburgh at that game, but I don't know that they will be for someone at the game, but maybe not for one of the players at the game.It is interesting, though.
Two older quarterbacks that have had a lot of sort of not just on the field, but off the field criticisms going at each other.
I think for whoever loses this one, David, this is going to be kind of a tough situation for either guy based on who loses tonight.
Yeah, these guys have had, I mean, you remember that playoff game, the Seattle, the Green Bay, the onside kick, all that stuff. They've had some legendary moments. And now we could possibly be seeing rock bottom for one or both of these guys tonight.
We could see a situation where Russell Wilson gets pulled.Of course, six to three.Right.He can get pulled in the first half. And Aaron Rodgers loses. And this is the final curtain call for both of these dudes.
Yeah, with the Mets and the Dodgers and the WNBA game five, this could be a game that you decide to skip. Big football doubleheader on Monday night. You're gonna watch it.We'll tell you the games. That's next here on ESPN Radio.
The playoffs continue on ESPN Radio. The Dodgers, up three games to two, push the Mets to the brink of elimination. Can they survive a must-win game six?Game six of the Dodgers and Mets.
Coverage begins today at 7.30 Eastern with first pitch at 8 Eastern on ESPN Radio and on the ESPN app. Matt and Myron, the podcast.
It is Countdown to kickoff here ESPN radio. We are waiting for the early games to start right now.David, David is Jr.I'm Matt Jones, Liverpool leads Chelsea one nothing at half.
You got some strong thoughts continuing our British theme for the day for those two football clubs.
uh... you know that uh... there's going to be more entertaining than the jaguars and uh... i think i think that's probably right it might take away there might be more point scored i don't know but more efficient offenses in those of the two teams i don't know yeah well i it's it's uh... british soccer is is somehow usually watch during the show in liverpool chelsea's a big match i'll keep you up to date right now it's one nothing uh... at the half let's go monday night football two games this weekend
Not, not, that doesn't happen a lot.You got Ravens and Bucks. That'll be on ESPN and ABC.And then for those of you with ESPN Plus, you get a little hot Chargers Cardinals actions.Let's start with Ravens and Tampa Bay, two high powered offenses.
I mean, Lamar and the Ravens have looked awesome. The addition of Derrick Henry has paid off, lost their first two games, but they have four straight wins. They're averaging 33 and a half points a game.
And then you go to Tampa Bay, new offensive coordinator Liam Cohen from Kentucky has absolutely turned that into a top five offense.Baker Mayfield, it looks amazing.I mean, it looked good last year, but amazing this year.
I actually think this could be a high powered fun game on Monday night. What about you, David?
Yeah, you know, could be a Super Bowl preview. You know, you never know.I think that
take it to my first thought is go back five years lamar jackson is you know for five years marge acts making mvp brunt and you say hey and a few years he's gonna have a quarterback dual possible super bowl preview with baker mayfield like that's that's where we go like these two this is a this is a full circle moment that we've had uh... to get here and now now we're here uh... you know here's my thing about the ravens is the thing i've always said i've been saying about the raiders for the last two years
They destroy good teams that are not named the Chiefs. If you go back for the last two years, this is who they beat. They beat really good teams that are not the Chiefs.Who do they lose to?Bad teams and the Chiefs.
And I think that these are the games they show up for.The first two games of the season, who do they lose to?The Chiefs and a bad Raiders team. And since then, they've blown out, for the most part, Really good teams.
They beat that Cowboys team, which at the time we thought was good. They beat the Bills. They beat a really good commanders team. This is who they show up for.
And until they lose to one of these teams, uh, I'm going to, I'm going to keep riding with the Ravens.
you know, I was going to save this for our take your pick segment, but Nick, what is my, what is my record of, of, of Lamar against NFC teams? It's like 23 and one, 23 and one, 23 and one.
Do you know what that the, who that one would be against?
I think that's that's your team right.
That would be Daniel Jones in the New York Giants.
That's your team. You guys are you were on the. Were you with the offensive lineman or the tight end.I can't.
I was the equipment manager.
There you go.That's how that's how we did it.All right.Yes.
But twenty three and one against the NFC.That is one of the most amazing statistics.I think it's, David, one of the most amazing statistics in sports.23 and one. That is insane.
There can't be any quarterback in history that has ever been better against the opposing conference than Lamar. My guess is it's because they usually only see the guy once every four years.
They don't have a way to really prepare for him because he's such a unique guy. but I'm gonna pick the Ravens because of that stat. But also, I think when you're evaluating Lamar, that stat, David, has to be part of it.
This idea, I remember Mark Stoops, the coach at Kentucky, tell me about Lamar.I've never seen anyone that is so different than everyone else you play.
It's like playing against a different creature, and that obviously is true when he plays against the NFC.
I wonder, I guess he must have beaten every NFC team already in his career. What's the fastest a player has been, has gone to beating an entire team in a conference? That's gotta be... That's a great question.
Is he beating every team in the NFL?I mean, he's probably... He's probably pretty close to having beaten it.I remember, well, I think it was Tom Brady and there was like one other quarterback have beaten every team in the NFL.
And maybe Lamar will do that with many years David left on his career.
It's gotta be, it's gotta be close.I mean, I don't know how often he's, he's beaten some of these, but the NFC, I mean, who, who, yeah, I don't know. But I mean, yeah.Has he beaten the Giants?Nick, have you ever lost to him?
Oh, maybe it's the only the Giants are left.
Well, it'd be funny if the Giants were the only team he's never beaten.
He's got to wait a couple years to think they have been.Yeah, so I play later this year, though, by the way.
Oh, they do.Okay, well, he can do it there. But it is just to beat him twice.I think it's partially I think it is a big the big factor is you just don't see that and there's no way to prepare for his athleticism in a one game scenario.
Yeah, also, he's just better than, I mean, like, look at the way the NFC has been the last couple years.I can't think of many quarterbacks who come through the NFC who would have been better than Lamar Jackson, you know?None.
I mean, maybe Aaron Rodgers.
Maybe Rodgers when he was there, right? But I mean, there's not that many, I mean, there's not many quarterbacks in the league who you would say are on par with him. It's just Mahomes and
Maybe Josh Allen depending on what time what you know how the wind blows But like the guy is going to be the best quarterback on the field Nine times out of ten nine nine times out of a hundred when he's on the field and you as other as the opposing team You have to overcome that and now you add in the fact that
that chances are he's going to have the best running back on the field with him.
Are you surprised by the Derrick Henry resurgence?I mean, I admit, I kind of thought he was done. He's the kind of runner that doesn't have a long shelf life, those kind of bruising runners.
But he also is kind of crazy fast, like he runs away from people. Are you surprised at what a year he's had so far?
I am a little surprised.I thought that he would be an asset, but what I thought that Derrick Henry's major asset would be to this Ravens team was he was going to help them hold on to these fourth quarter leads.
Because when you're up, you have a running back who doesn't fumble the ball, who chomps yards, who chomps away clock.I thought that he would help them from blowing some of these fourth quarters. That was it for me.
I don't think this dude would show up and be the best running back that you got left in the NFL right now.And that's pretty much what he's looking like. The Braves have had six straight games or at least 150 running yards.
So now you have this dual threat with Lamar Jackson.
and derrick henry let alone the people who stole the ball to like this is is is as formidable as uh... offense and to your point is hard to game plan for that could only play a different for a different style of offense that you have in the nfl right now that's like a throwback to six seven eight years ago when running backs were running wild all over the the league and now a lot of teams gone away from that but you still have a dude who can bowl people over and eat up a bunch of clock
He's awesome. He's a lot of fun to watch, but don't watch, I mean, I think the Ravens win, but the Bucs have been sneaky really good this year.Just people don't necessarily pay attention.Chargers Cardinals, eh, you got something for me?
I think that everybody should tune in to the game when ESPN plus, uh, you know, it's a great, great, uh, first of all, the interface when it is ESPN plus is the second to none, right? You can find everything you want right there.
I remember when I, I mean, you are like fight the power guy, except when it comes to ESPN plus.
Yeah, well, you know, sometimes you gotta love the power, you know what I'm saying?I love the power that they have here.Sometimes you gotta embrace the power. You gotta embrace the power.
Really, I think that should have been, that would have been a great, I think that's the remix to the song Public Enemy did. It's called Love the Power.I think that's what they have.
Love the power if they write you a check. That's a B-side.
That's a B-side.By the way, I don't know if I've mentioned yet, I just want to give a shout out to the producers of First Take. They just do a wonderful job. Just a fantastic crew of people all the way around top top notch topics.Yeah.
I haven't really hung out with them too much.Sounds like you'd like to though.Yeah I would love to.They're going to be here in Atlanta. They're coming to Morehouse in a couple of weeks.Would love to come in and spend a little time.
I do think just really to get an autograph from them because the work that they do is just incredible.
He just said he disparages radio and my producing but.
First, second, and he won't talk. They wants to be on first take.
I was supposed to be on there saying, yeah, we are. We're a great football team. He'll be.He'll be all buddy, buddy with them.I was, I was scheduled at first.I say this a lot.
I was scheduled to be on first take one time and I got bumped two days before for own young me suck. And he, they bumped me and I don't know, I don't even know him, but I remember that day. And, uh, one of these days, maybe it'll, it'll flip.
But that was, I'll put it, I'll put a good word in for you.I'll tell him, I'll tell him I know you.
That would be nice.I appreciate it.It is time to make our picks. You know, last week I went 11 and 1.Maybe this is the week I've finally finished perfect.Either way, I'm still ahead of Myron.David will pick for Myron. That's next.
Here, I count out a kickoff on ESPN Radio.
from the first pitch of the wild card pitch. It's a total different atmosphere. This is the best part of baseball.
Until a World Series champion is crowned.
The Texas Rangers are World Series champs.
Hear every pitch of Major League Baseball's postseason.Wow.Right here on ESPN Radio.Matt and Myron, the podcast.
Here are my updates for you here on Canada Kickoff.Chelsea just scored, David. It is now 1-1 Liverpool-Chelsea. So if you're just wanting to keep you up to date, it's a big battle in the Premier League. Two of the top teams, we have one-one.
Cheerio, that's one way to put it, yes.I mean, this is second and fifth place going on.ESPN Radio is presented by Progressive Insurance.Progressive offers a great price, around-the-clock protection, while building home and auto.
It's one of the rare times you can save money and get something great. bundled today at progressive.com.We are now time to make our picks, give you the winners of the games.Remember, this is just Moneyline, not against the spread.
It is time to take your pick.
Take your pick. You take your pick. It's time to take your pick.
11 11 and 1 last week for me 10 and 2 for Myron. We're on a hot streak Vegas, by the way took David their worst day in six years last week because so many favorites won So we'll see if that happens again this week. What's up first?
Titans and bills Titans bills.
What do you got? Buffalo easily, easily, Buffalo's gonna win this game.Too many weapons they got, they've added to the team. They look like, and you know, the Tennessee Titans have a backup. They have Mason Rudolph coming.
This is gonna be, whatever the money line is, Buffalo's gonna win by 21 points.
I don't know, Mason Rudolph, the Red Nose quarterback, sometimes has big time games, but not today against Josh Allen. The Bills will win easily against your Tennessee Titans. What's next?
Your guy, Deshaun Watson. This is a easy win for the Bengals.Their defense is going to look like world stoppers because they're playing, quite literally, once again, the worst quarterback we have ever seen play this many games in the football season.
As I mentioned earlier, UCLA scored 20 points yesterday, which means that Deshaun Watson and the Browns are the only team in the FBS and the NFL to not have scored 20 points yet this season.
I'll remind you though, Brat Browns are six and two in their last game against the Bengals and Joe Burrow is one in five in his career against the Browns.I do however, think the Bengals win this game. They'll go on the road.
I think the Browns fans are over, but let me tell you something. This battle of Ohio, which is what this is, is a lot bigger of a rivalry than people realize. And I think it will be like that again today. What's next? next.
I got the Beatles by the way.Texans at Packers. What do you got, Dave?Oh, I think I'm going to go with the Texans, man.I think this is going to be sort of that big statement game to remind everybody they got.
I think CJ Stroud, if I'm doing a draft and the young quarterbacks, the next up guys, I think I'm taking Stroud over love. I'm going with the Texans. This one's hard for me, man.
You know, you look at it and it seems like the Texans are the best team, but Packers are a three point favorite.I mean, that's that's not an insignificant amount.I'm going to take Green Bay at home.
I think playing at one o'clock, it's not cold, so that's good for Houston. But I'm still going to take Green Bay to win at home.Jordan Love gets it done.Give me the Packers. What's next?
Go ahead, you gotta pick one. We'll go with the Colts.I haven't seen enough from the Dolphins without Tua to believe in them at all.I'm gonna go with the Colts.
That's basically all I got, except for, I don't know what the Vegas odds are, the over-under here, but I'm putting the over-under on 12 seconds with how much of this game I'm gonna watch.
I'm gonna take the Colts.Actually, if it was Flacco, I think I would definitely pick the colts.
I'm a little more weary with richardson, but i'm still gonna take the colts I don't know how the dolphins, uh move the ball by the way liverpool scored david. It is now 2-1 I'm keeping you up to date on all the latest of this game.Let's go.
lion's head vikings Oh, this is a good one game of the week to me.This is the game.Uh, I think everybody's looking for NFC North supremacy type of game to me is gonna come down to defensive coordinator starting quarterback that's what it is golf
I have faith in golf to figure things out against the Blitz.I think when they have a close game, who's the quarterback I trust?I think it's going to be golf.A little bit over Darnold.
I know that Myron says Darnold's the best quarterback in the NFC, but I'm going to go with the Lions. But I'm willing to be very wrong about this.
Yeah, I like the Lions here.I think they go on the road there. They're an underdog, which I think is kind of silly to be honest with you.Vikings.I know they're five and oh, but I think all good things have to come to an end.Jared golf plays.
Well, the Lions get the road win.Give me Detroit. What's next?
I'm going to go with the Eagles, the Giants stink. And the Eagles, I think, I mean, there's so much turmoil there with the coach and everything. But still, they are winning some of these games. They do have more talent.
Saquon is going to have a big homecoming game, video tribute or not. He's going to get it, have a good game.I think the Eagles win.
If the Giants, if Saquon wasn't playing, I would actually pick the Giants because I think the Giants have played better than people sort of act like.
It's so cool to say Daniel Jones stinks, but they don't break down that he's not been terrible this year.So I'm actually, but I'm going to take the Eagles because I think Saquon, for the reason you said, is going to have a big game.
Give me the Eagles in a close game that comes to down to the very end. What's next?
We're going to go with the Falcons here.Kirk Cousins and that offense is humming. They got off to a rocky start. He's had tremendous gains.I mean, the last 500-some yards against Tampa Bay, that offense is looking like the height of what you expected.
I hope that's the offensive look.If you're a Falcons fan, I'm going with the Falcons.
Yeah, I'm going to take the Falcons as well.Seahawks, I think I'm one in five picking their games this year.I'm not letting them fool me today. But remember what I always say. I can't ever pick a Falcons game's right. So I'm picking the Falcons.
You probably ought to bet the Seahawks.I'm going to assume we're both picking the Commanders over the Panthers, correct?Absolutely.
So then let's go to the next one.If you're in the Fantasy League and you're going against Daniels, good luck.Go ahead. What's next?
Oh, man.I'm going with the Rams just because I think the Raiders are pundit on the season. The Rams still have a little bit more talent.I'm going with the Rams.
Yeah, I think you're exactly right.I think the Raiders have punted on the season.Rams, again, another team that I don't think people is as bad as people think. They're 1-4.That record looks awful. But I don't think they're as bad.
A lot of those games have been close.Give me the Rams at home. What's next?
Game of the day. I'm going with the Chiefs.Chiefs are going to extend their unbeaten streak.Mahomes, you know, despite the brilliant first take producers, I think Mahomes is better than Purdy.I'm going to go with the Chiefs. They're healthier.
There's a better team right now.
Yeah, I think the Chiefs win solely because of that first take, Kyron.Someone is going to have shown that to Mahomes, and he's going to go, are you kidding me?You're asking if I'm better than Purdy? He comes out and plays well.Give me the Chiefs.
I bet I will take them, especially they're an underdog.Come on.How is he an underdog?I'll take the Chiefs. What's next?
Sunday Night Football. What do you got, David? I'm going Steelers here.I'm going Steelers.I think this is the last hurrah for a dysfunctional Jets team.
The Devontae Adams thing, I mean, hopefully for the Jets' sake that this turns out to be the thing that they've been missing. But, man, the Steelers' defense is good.I think Russell Wilson has something to prove.I think it'll be a low-scoring game.
I think the Steelers win.
All right, so generally speaking, I've been pretty anti the Jets all year, but this is a little different scenario. You're gonna have the Jets.Yes, they're gonna have flat earthers, COVID deniers on their team.
They're gonna have all of the wackies over here.
But then the president walks in for Trump, and that's gonna cause a security nightmare for the Steelers, which will distract them, and Russell Wilson's weirdness will offset Aaron Rodgers' weirdness, and the Jets will get the victory. What's next?
That was really good football analysis.
That was great. That was great.I'm going to go.I'm going to go with the Ravens here. I'm stealing from you here, the Ravens and their, Lamar Jackson, the NFC record, I'm gonna go with the Ravens.
23-1 against the NFC, Lamar, 23-1.If you bet on Tampa Bay here, you're insane. How can you go against 23-1?Maybe this is the one that happens, but I doubt it.23-1 becomes 24-1, the Ravens beat Tampa Bay on Monday night.
And then, for all of your ESPN Plus subscribers, you get this.
Chargers at Cardinals, David.Chargers, going with the Chargers.A little bit better team.I'm just going with the Chargers.Just do it.
I actually, in all seriousness, really enjoy ESPN Plus because it can be late at night and you can flip the channels and you can find Cal State Fullerton versus Long Beach State women's soccer late at night. And you go, what is this?
Something to watch. You might get Cornell versus Brown football. And now Monday night, I get Chargers versus Cardinals.Give me the Chargers.Jim Harbaugh's secretly having a good year down there.I will take the Chargers to win.
David, thank you very much.I enjoy when you fill in during Myron's various ego trips, and I definitely appreciate you taking the time.
Yeah, absolutely happy to be here.Despite, you know, Myron's, you know, he takes those breaks. He has an Arnold Palmer sized ego that he has to take care of.
We'll have a video tribute for you next time you're back.
That's exactly right. An Arnold Palmer sized ego tribute. Kevin Clark and Justin Pugh are next on game day for an Arnold Palmer size show. This has been ESPN radio.
