I'm ready to play football.I've been waiting a long time for this moment.
This is the Countdown to Kickoff on ESPN Radio.
It is our number two Countdown to Kickoff ESPN Radio presented by Progressive Insurance. It is Matt Jones, David Dennis Jr.here getting ready for Two hours away from the early games, eight games early, three late.
Two Monday night games tomorrow night, including the very first ever, David, ESPN Plus only game on Monday Night Football, Cardinals and Chargers.Have you got your ESPN Plus login ready for tomorrow night?
Yeah, absolutely.Very happy to contribute to the company. And make sure that everybody's on an ESPN plus, you know, great, great.
One of the many great benefits and perks of being an ESPN employees that we get to go to ESPN plus they take such good care of us.I'm just so happy to be here.
You get it for free.I have to pay for my ESPN plus.
Is there a login that I can get?Yeah, we can.No, no, absolutely no sharing. We don't do that.
Wait a minute, you pay for ESPN Plus?No one's ever given me a password.Who would I even ask?Nick, you're the only person I even know. You're a Disney employee. But what do I call Mickey Mouse?
Like, I don't know who to talk to.No, I think you talk to Donald Duck.
Okay, well, there you go.Do you know, by the way, Dave, a little fun fact for you.
The trademark for Mickey Mouse, you know, it expires December 1st, which means starting on December 1st, the original trademark for Mickey Mouse enters the public domain.
So you could you could create a cartoon with the original Mickey Mouse, the Steamboat Willie or whatever. You could do it.And there's nothing Disney can do starting on December 1st.
Oh, that's good to know.I'm going to open my own theme park.
I don't know if your own theme park will work.Maybe just start with like a cartoon or something.OK, yeah, all of our trademark laws were based around Mickey Mouse and it's it's it's life plus 70 and that expires December 1st.
Just a little bit of a fun fact for you right now.Jaguars lead 22 to 10 against the Patriots in England. It is halftime and good performance in the second quarter by the Jaguars.22 straight points since New England got the lead tonight.
Besides the WNBA Finals, the marquee game, well, first of all, you got, this is a great night of sports, by the way.WNBA Finals, game six, Mets and Dodgers, and then Jets and Steelers.
Of course, what's gonna be, what's gonna show you the dominance of football culture in America is probably the Jets and Steelers, even with those two games on.
I think there's a really good chance, David, that's gonna get the highest rating, which just shows how much football runs our society.
You know, as a southern person who has a deep disdain for folks in New York, I'm tired of the New Yorkers just running this weekend. They've been talking about this.Everything's been about New York this whole entire weekend.
We got Yankees going to the World Series. Oh, Liberty may win a championship. The Mets may extend the series. The Jets may win a game where they, like, they may start looking good.Like, I'm tired of this, man.
Like, can we, like, just find something else to do.The Knicks are about to start their season.Everybody, you know, the New York folks think they're winning a championship.Like, enough is enough.Enough is enough.
Like, can we just get, like, if this ends up being a Subway series, I'm out.Oh, dude, the Subway series.
If you're not from New York, the Subway series is going to drive people absolutely nuts. First of all, that's a hard, Nick, you can agree, that's a hard subway trip from Yankee Stadium to out to Shea, well, not Shea, whatever it's called now.
It's like three miles. It's not too bad.
Yeah, but you can't go straight. You gotta go all the way down and then all the way to the right, right? It takes like an hour, doesn't it?
Queens is not easy.Yeah, Queens is the issue to get to.
Yeah, Queens is way out there and then you, yeah.
I don't know the hate that David is giving New York.Sorry that we're good at sports.I don't know.Tell Atlanta to step up.
I mentioned five teams and you're talking about we again.
I'm a fan of like half of them. The Yankees, the Knicks, the Rangers are 4-0 by the way.
Well, that's nice.Everybody cares about, uh, I do want to say congratulations to, uh, I want to send a sincere congratulations to all the Cowboys fans in the world that the Yankees have made the Superbowl.I like that.
Well, the jets and the Steelers tonight, I feel like the jets to me, David, when I see that a restaurant announces they've changed their menu and they have a new head chef, I'm like, well, that place is struggling.
Like, like that place is kind of trying to hang on.You now got this with the Jets. They bring in Devontae Adams. They fired their coach, bring in a new chef.Hasan Reddick decides to show up for work today and signs. They're kind of all hands on deck.
And then tonight having to go to Pittsburgh. I don't know.I mean, are you, have you written off the Jets or do you think something can still be salvaged of this group?
Well, I never wrote on the Jets.I mean, I didn't think that this team was going to be good when the season started.I just didn't believe in Aaron Rodgers.
And I still do not believe in Aaron Rodgers in terms of being, uh, who he is in terms of like, uh, at his age coming from the injury, trying to lead a team.
in a in a in a in a f c east that i thought you know the the dolphins uh... their issues notwithstanding i thought that that division will be a little tougher than it is but like i just didn't see that this guy was was that good enough for that and i'm also not sure how much he cares about football like to be honest may we give erin rogers a pass and in a way that we don't give a lot of the folks pass this guy's a podcaster this guy's a wannabe political candidate this guy wants to talk about all the conspiracies whatever
and i'm not sure how much he is in locked in as a football player right now and he's got to be you know that the office is just as bad with aaron rogers as it was last year without right so now you have no excuse you got rid of your coach and you improved your team after you got rid of the coach which is like a tear you know like this is a bad business to do that and now you it's all on you to show something
Hey Mikey you're gonna let's be honest when he retires you're going to subscribe to Aaron Rodgers podcast because I mean you're going to be one of the first ones that hit subscribe right.
I just know where you're going with this and yeah.
I'm just saying like he's gonna have a podcast that is definitely going to happen and it's going I can tell you what person that won't be listening is me but I do think it's fair to wonder about his focus David I mean I you know he seems to me to be so detached from his teammates
from pretty much everything that doesn't involve the McAfee show.Devontae Adams, do you think he will be, he magically got healthy. We thought that he was hurt and now all of a sudden he's ready to go.
Do you think he will make a difference on this team?
I think he can.I mean, I think he can.I mean, him and Aaron Rodgers obviously have the good chemistry. But that team is not a Devontae Adams away from being great.I mean, the defense has not been good, right? It's not the same defense.
I think people assumed it would be, and it's just not. It's not.The defense has not been that good. Not only have they lost the coast, they've been shuffling around coordinators.
you know, um, Aaron Rodgers, Nepo Nepo buddy, uh, Nathaniel Hackett, uh, has been essentially demoted.
Like this team is a mess right now and it's going to be on Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Rodgers has been on a lot of messy teams coincidentally in the past.
And what has gotten them past it is the fact that his arm and his ability as a quarterback and sort of make it together.Like the R E L A X year was a lot of Aaron Rodgers causing a lot of trouble. Right, exactly. That guy.
And his arm strength is what got him over that.He doesn't have that anymore.
I've forgotten that clip.Play that again.
He sounds like everybody that I went to college with that I didn't like, you know, they take like one philosophy class and then they come in and they, they, like, they think they're the smartest person in school.
I, I don't know how people deal with him.
I didn't like him.Rand book allowed.
Yes, exactly.I didn't like him before, but I will say after hard knocks. which people thought was like a positive testament to him.I liked him much less because it became very clear to me that everyone has to orbit in his world.
And now we've seen with what happened with Salah, that like, if things don't work out, he is completely quick to throw everyone else under the bus.And I think the chickens have come home to roost.I think the Steelers win today.
And I think if they do win today, David, I think that's it.I mean, I do think the Jets are kind of headed towards missing the playoffs.
yeah i mean you have no excuse to lose this deal is to the stills defense is great but they're starting russell wilson right who we have not seen a long time whereby talked about has not been that good how do you think that's going to go by the way who man i don't know i you know i was not totally adjusted feels but first of all salute just feels for the way he handled this the way we said the press conference i was not like good enough to be the star in this team which i would agree with i think he's been solid but you got russell wilson on your team i think you give him a shot you kick the tires on russell wilson because
He, I mean, if Justin Fields can be that much better than he was in Chicago, then Russell Wilson has a chance to be that much better. But I think that leash is extremely, extremely short. If he's looking bad, you might pull him after the first half.
I would just disagree with you.I'm not sure Justin Fields looked better than he did at the end in Chicago. I mean, he was playing pretty good at the end last year.I mean, they had to make that move.
But by the end of the year, they were playing pretty good.I don't know.I don't think Russell Wilson's going to work out long term. But I kind of think he might actually get it done tonight. The Road to the World Series goes through ESPN Radio.
You can catch all the postseason action either on ESPN Radio or the ESPN app.Myron Metcalf said he thought Sam Darnold might be the best NFC quarterback as of right now.
I think that's ridiculous, but either way, they got a tough test tonight and if he wins, who knows, maybe he's correct. We'll talk about Darnold versus the Lions. That's next here on Countdown to Kickoff on ESPN Radio.
From the first pitch of the wildcard. The pitch. It's a totally different atmosphere. This is the best part of baseball.
Until a World Series champion is crowned.
Here every pitch of Major League Baseball's postseason.
Right here on ESPN Radio.Matt and Myron the podcast.
It is Canada kickoff here on ESPN Radio.Jaguars just had a chance to basically put the game out of the way.Christian Kirk could not get his second foot down and so they'll probably have to kick a field goal.It is 22-10.
Jaguars over the Patriots right now in England.Do you have the game on, David?Do you care at all about this game or no?
I have the game on doing my due diligence as a as a sports reporter watch.
Let's say you were not on this show.Would you get up at this time of morning to watch Patriots Jaguars?
Absolutely not.Absolutely not. There's no way.Absolutely not.I'm not watching.I'm not watching this game. You would have to pay me or even torture me to watch the torturous game.I'm not watching this game.
I would rather listen to Aaron Rodgers podcast than watch this game.
What level of NFL game if you're on your free time would you watch like like looking at the games today?Would you watch Chiefs 49ers?Yeah, absolutely.Absolutely.Okay.Would you watch Raiders Rams?
No, we're that's that's the that's the threshold. We're not doing Raiders. We're like I salute like the Mena times of the world who like show up and are like, yep.
And when I watched Raiders Rams, uh, twice on, um, uh, you know, to, to get, to get the right.I'm like, oh my goodness. How are you doing this?It is all right.
So give me quickly on the games today.I want the David Dennis jr.Would it be on his TV if he didn't have to work? All right.Just yes or no.Titans bills.No.Texans Packers.
Eagles giants. Oh you're turning on Eagles Giants to say.
I do have to.Let me tell you.We did the show when the Giants and the Cowboys played Thursday night football and we were watching the show watching Daniel Jones throw a football.
It's fun is one of the most just one of the most torturous experience you could ever have is to watch.I don't even think he's starting he's not starting a game right.
All right. We know he's biased in New York.We calm down with all that Daniel.
So if you if you think it's so torturous why do you want to watch it. I don't know.I was absolutely out on it.Not watching.Oh, you're out on it.Okay.I thought it was like.Alright.
Alright.Lines Vikings. You're going to watch that I would assume.
You watching that one?I think so.I think I'll check the Seahawks Falcons.I mean, Kirk Cousins and then offense. There's an entertaining offense. We're watching.
Alright, I know what your answer is going to be to this. You're not watching Bengals Browns, are you?
No, absolutely not.Absolutely not.
You know, the Browns have like a crazy record against the Bengals. They've like won like seven of their last nine against a Bengals team that's been good.
Yeah, I am just opposed to having the Browns on my television at any point.
Give me the stick.Give everybody the stat you gave me earlier today.
I thought it was fascinating about the so yesterday UCLA in college football score 20 points, right? When they did that, they made it so that the Browns are now the only team in the NFL and FBS 134 teams, right?
They are the only team this season to have yet to score 20 points. That is amazing.
And yet, we're going to see Deshaun Watson, how long? You think that'll be all year?
Yeah, they have no choice. They have, they're stuck with this dude.
And I'm sorry if I bust out the tiniest violin possible for this Cleveland Browns team who has, who threw every single moral compass that you could possibly have out the window because they thought they were getting a generational quarterback.
and instead they got the worst quarterback in the league who really basically signed this contract because oh coincidentally he may have needed a few hundred million bucks in settlement money at the same time and now you are stuck with this guy you can't trade him can't move him anywhere the dead cap space you are stuck with the worst quarterback in the league i'm sorry if i don't you know cry a river for your decision
Well, speak your mind.I like it.Now the Lions and Vikings, a quarterback, a lot of people have given up on Sam Darnold.Myron said it's been the best in the NFC.
And today they have a game that if you don't believe in the Vikings, if you're, if you're a skeptic and I've been a Viking skeptic after today, if they win, I don't know how you can.
Because they're playing the Detroit Lions team that a lot of people still think I still think they're the odds-on favorite To win the division they come in four and one this is for first place in the NFC North Which is the strongest conference so far?
Now the Lions are 1 and 8 in the Super Bowl era against teams that are 5 and 0 or better 1 and 8 The Vikings are seeking to start 6 and over the first time since 2009 They are at home.
Minnesota is a two and a half point favorite, according to ESPN Bet.This is one of those games I kind of have a sneaking suspicion the Lions come in and win by a decent enough margin to sort of say, this is still our division.
Do you think, however, there's a chance the Vikings prove, hey, we're as good as anybody in the NFL today?
Yeah, I mean, this is the Vikings, you know, the cliche, the statement game. And I think it really comes down
to the amount of pressure that they're putting on right i think that you know the lions struggle specially quarterback wise when it comes to being pressured and you have a vikings defense that blitzes a whole lot especially on first down and they're gonna cause some trouble and i think this is really a situation in which that defense could be suffocating now on the other side
One of the reasons the Vikings have done so well offensively, and Sam Donald has done so well, is that they plan ahead so often. They play ahead, they're playing with these big leads.
I'm not sure they're gonna jump out to a big lead, and I think Sam Donald's gonna have to do a little bit more than he's done so far this season.
I think that's a really good analysis.I will say this, though. If you're the Lions, I mean, I think this is a statement game for the Vikings if they win.But I also think the Vikings can lose and be fine. They're five and one.
They're still, I think, in decent shape.
But if you're the Lions and you want to win the division, and winning the division means getting a playoff bye, maybe getting home field advantage all the way through the Super Bowl, you don't want to lose this one.
I mean, you would be two games down to the Vikings. They would own the tiebreaker. It's a pretty massive game for Detroit to come in.Normally, this time of year, you wouldn't think that. But I actually think it is.I see Jared Goff having a big game.
I still don't think we've seen the best of the Lions this year. And I actually think today they do it.Justin Jefferson, however, has had his biggest games against the Lions, over 1,000 yards receiving.
It's the most by a player in their first eight games against a team ever in NFL history. So it'll be interesting to see if he's able to continue that today, Dave.
the a hundred thirty-four receiving yards per game uh... against his life team cars about uh... but you know again that sam donald in the ball also this time so we're gonna see what that looks like i think there's going to be a close game i do think that this is important in terms of the psyche of both of these teams i think the lines want to show that they're the best in the division and really the best nfc and i think the vikings want to show that hey we are going to win a meaningful
game against a team that everybody thinks is better than us.That Packers win was really impressive. They really dominated the Packers.Packers made it close towards the end. But, you know, again, this is going to come down to Flores and Goff, to me.
It's about how much the defensive schemes against a quarterback that, to me, Goff is great in a clean pocket, struggles against the Blitz. And he's going to have to figure out how to be his best self against the Blitz in this game.
Uh, is eight eight eight.Say ESPN here on countdown to kickoff.I know you said you wouldn't watch it, but Titans bills, uh, they, they got rid of my man, Will Levis.Well, you can get rid of him, but he's not going to be starting.
Mason Rudolph takes that job.Usually with the rookie. If they are in their second year and they get benched, especially for a guy like Mason Rudolph or in Carolina, a guy like Andy Dalton, that usually means.
I don't know if it's going to work out in that place. Is that how you read the decision to bench Will Levis here in week, uh, in, uh, week seven?
Yeah.Especially when you have a team that's going nowhere, right?Sometimes you have a team going to where you already got a young guy playing.I'll let them get some reps in, let them figure some things out. This seems like a, Hey, we're moving on.
The Will Levis story started off great. It started off like it was going to be some Cinderella story.
It ended with him throwing behind the back passes, lobs over his head, like creating the most eventful turnovers and interceptions that we've seen a quarterback throw. That's the Will Levis story, and I think it's a wrap.
By the way, they're claiming injury on Will Levis, saying he hurt his AC joint. But at the same time, I mean, he was practicing with the team. uh this week. So, so I don't know.
I mean, I, you know, I'm people who've listened to the show for a long time. No, I'm biased towards Will Levis.I want it to work but I don't know.
I think with the fact, there's also a, there's also a sense of which there might be a little bit of tanking because there's four quarterbacks uh that are really good coming into the draft this year.
There might be a sense where because Levis was the first pick of the second round, they feel like they can get off of him a little easier than you can David with the first round pick.
Yeah, I mean, I think it's possible You know, maybe there's something down the line for him, but it ain't happening right now.I do like Will.
Plus, somebody's got to eat that mayonnaise. If they don't, it's just going to be out there, and nobody's going to know what to do.Herm Edwards, he's going to come by here.He would stop Justin Jefferson today, I can tell you that.
He's got to be excited. We'll get with him next, here on Countdown to Kickoff, right here on ESPN Radio.
Hi, this is Evan Cohen.Join us Monday at 6 a.m.Eastern.We'll discuss a wild weekend in college football.Who's number one?Who will win the Heisman?Who's in the playoff?Do we know any of those?Texas loses.Fama loses. We'll discuss Monday, 6 a.m.

It is Cadet of Kickoff here on ESPN Radio, presented by Progressive Insurance.Matt Jones, David Dennis Jr., Jacksonville 25, New England 10.Right now, the Jaguars have completely taken over this game in the second half.
Tank Bigsby, David, just running over people.Do you like that?A little British football, guys running over each other, rugby style.
Yes, yeah, a little rugby style, serving up some, he said, take this beans and toast. I don't know what beans and toast is.You keep saying that.I've never seen beans and toast. You've never seen beans and toast as a British.I haven't.
You must have hung out different places.Baked beans and a little toast.I've ever seen baked beans, but not with toast.Herm Edwards, did you ever, when you were coaching your play, did you ever go to Europe? What are these games like?
You know, for these guys, it was easier because they stayed there for two weeks. But we went to Japan, we went to Germany. And they're short. They're short trips when you just go and come back. Now, they stayed for two weeks, obviously.
I mean, they're like three-day trips, maybe four at the most. It's quick. It's a quick turnaround.
Is it like throw you off your routine and schedule?
Yeah, a little bit, you know, and just the whole deal of going somewhere like that and just everything, you know, it's for both teams and no team has an advantage for the most part. And I think Jacksonville does because they go over there every year.
It's like their second home. And by the way, they're winning this game right now, a game that they needed to win badly. And they're playing like the Jacksonville you anticipated them to be during the season.
Hopefully they could this will carry over when they come back to the States.
I mean, I guess we could stick with this game, I guess, since we're talking about this game.I'm interested in this New England side of it, though.I mean, obviously not going to be good this year. What is the sort of long-term promise to this team?
What are they trying to do with May and with Mayo and everything they've got going on there?
Well, obviously, you're in the rebuilding mode and they hire a new coach.Obviously, the coach that he's following, I don't know how many people ever accomplished what that man has accomplished in New England.
I said, for 20 years, they've lived in Camelot. Now they're back into the regular life of NFL teams. And I think Mayo, he's got the task of trying to rebuild it.
I said this from the beginning, and every coach has to make his own decision as an organization as well. I would have started May in the beginning, first game. He'd be seven weeks better.I think he is the future.I think he has some talent.
How you build it from here, they've had a good running game.I mean, they know how to play defense. They just need some more pieces around him.And I think they'll be a competitive group. But it's, they're,
They're the team now in that division, everybody's kind of looking at going, okay, well, okay, you had 20 years, now you're gonna suffer like everybody else.
And I hope they get through it for Mayo's sake, because he's following one of the best coaches ever coached the game, and that's always difficult.
It almost never works.I mean, like George Seifert, it worked. But there are very few times that when you follow a legend like that, Herm, it works.
Yeah, no, no.I mean, it's hard. It's just hard. And I'm wishing him a lot of success.I really am.He's a former player. And he knows that organization.I think that's why they hired him.And it's just a matter of how much patience will they have with him.
I think this year, everybody knew kind of what it was going to look like.
You know this division when it first started you you figured that you know, well it was gonna be obviously the Jets the Buffalo Bills and The Miami Dolphins now, I'm hearing the two was supposed to come back in a week or so, which would be interesting I'm nervous about that, but he's gonna come back.
I mean, what do you think about that?I feel I watched when you said that David shook his head.I kind of took a deep breath It's almost like her none of us really want to see him play but like But there's a part of that's almost paternalistic.
I mean, shouldn't he get to if he wants to?It's tough.
Yeah, no, it's him.And I can remember this happened to us when I was in Kansas City with Trent Green. He got concussed, a bad one.And when they hit him, he was on the sideline. He was right by me, and I saw when he went down.
And he was out for at least, you know, he was out a couple weeks, two or three, before he finally got his bearings back.He ended up retiring. Now, he had played longer. He was an older quarterback.
But I was scared to death of he was gonna try to come back, you know And he made he made the right decision for him and his family.I love Trent Green.
I really do and He retired now two was younger But you know the history of this it just it makes you nervous it just makes you nervous I'll leave it at that
Yeah, I mean, yeah, that's heavy on my mind. But I do want to stay on that division there.Tonight, we got Aaron Rodgers and this, I guess, new look Jets thing that got going on.What are we expecting to see from this Jets team?
And what's going on in that locker room?
Well, obviously, there was a whole lot going on with this football team. And now, they've got a new head coach, a man that was already on the staff. They've got a legitimate playoff defense, there's no doubt about that.
They're bringing as many pieces as they can around there.
But that defense hasn't been great this year.I mean, it's taken a step back.
Well, it has, but here again, and what happens with that is offensively, when you bog down, your defense gets worn out.And that's what happens when you can't score points, right?
And so I think now, with Aaron Rodgers there, the whole deal was we should be able to score points. That wasn't the case early. Now he has a receiver and a guy that he trusts.
That he sees what Aaron Rodgers sees when they break the huddle and gets to the line of scrimmage. And if Aaron Rodgers sees a certain look, and he wants a certain pass play, there's a signal that these guys have together.
There's a couple signals and he knows exactly what route to run.And all the rest of those guys don't even need to know. And he's gonna run and he's gonna throw it to him.
And basically get open to make the first down or if we get one on one, I might throw a touchdown to you.And that's kinda how they operated, right, in Green Bay.And it was a unique situation and we saw it a lot.
And this is gonna be part of this offense to see if he can get going again.
Well, they need to, for sure. Now, the big game today is Chiefs 49ers Super Bowl rematch.I was saying earlier, Chiefs are 5-0.I mean, I'm fine with the Chiefs, even if they lose.Who cares?
But I think for the 49ers at 3-3, it's a big game to me, especially considering that they haven't been totally on track, and their schedule actually gets hard over the next few weeks.
You think it's a big game for San Francisco this afternoon?Yeah, for a lot of reasons. But I think for the number one reason, this team has beaten you four times in a row in a Super Bowl.
And their problem has been Kelsey, 29 receptions in them four games. You better figure out how to cover him, right? And this is a team that eventually I think, now I do think they'll get challenged to Kansas City this year.I think watching Baltimore.
last couple weeks, figure it out a little bit.Be interesting.Okay.And then there's some other teams too, but if you're the front runners, the chiefs, there ain't no doubt about it.
They got, they got the best quarterback on the planet and they just know how to win.You know, they, they play tight games, but they're, they keep their composure. You know, they don't panic and they know how to win tight games.
There's something about that. You know, a team that knows how to win close games, one score games. That pays dividends for you when you're playing and they know how to do that. And so this is a big game for San Francisco. It's at home. It's a team.
I think if they could beat the Chiefs at home, it would, it would give them a little gravitas. They'd feel kind of good about theirselves.I'm not saying they don't, but they would feel okay.
Other big game Vikings, Lions, NFC North sort of supremacy. What are you looking forward from this game?
Well, the Minnesota Vikings have kind of jumped out there and no one anticipated, you know, Sam Darnold, good for Sam Darnold, and this team would be 5-0.No one anticipated that. And rightly so.And they've got a good offense. They can score points.
Sam Darnold's playing well.Their defense is hard to deal with, you know. The numbers pass wise or 30th ranked against the run, they stop the run.And that's good because they do a lot of things that disrupt the quarterback when he goes back to throw.
That's why they only given up 15 points. They've taken the ball away a bunch, but now they get to play the bullies. They get to play the bullies. And that's what the Detroit Lions did to the Dallas Cowboys. It wasn't fair. They went into Dallas.
It's like somebody walking into your house when you're watching Monday Night Football and you sit in that nice chair you always love sitting in.And they walked into your home and they said, get out of the chair.I'm gonna watch the game in your chair.
And that's what he did to the Dallas Cowboys. They bullied him. And that's what you've got to deal with. You've got to deal with a physical football team on both sides of the football. And they're in your division.
They're five and 0, the Vikings, and you're four and 1.And this will be a good game for the Vikings. You know, I mean, it just will because can you match their physicality on both sides of the ball? And they're going to run the football, guys.
They're going to flat run it.They've got a good offensive line. They're going to beat you up, try to, offensively. And this is where Jared Goff comes into play.He is an excellent, excellent play-action quarterback.
When he turns his back to the defense, most quarterbacks, that makes them uncomfortable. He's actually better. When he can turn his back to the defense and set up, he sees the field, he knows where to go with the ball.
I want to ask you this before we go, Herm. When you were a player, you were a superstar. You're a man about town. And then you were a coach, and you had to coach these egos and all of that.
If you were a coach, and Travis Kelsey had been getting criticism because he shows up here. He's at this game. He's at this tennis match. But then when he gets on the field, he's still playing.
Did you care what your players did when it was their off time?Or would you ever say to them, hey, what are you doing doing that? Would you have mattered if Travis Kelsey was on your team?
I'd love him.And I think Andy's handling him right, and the team's handling him right. And I tell him this, look, understand this. You are judged by how you play football. You're a football player.
All the rest of that stuff is extracurriculum activities. And if you can do both, that's great, as long as you don't hurt this football team.
Long as you don't, you know, all that stuff doesn't get in the way of your teammates in this team, and it doesn't.And I think some people, you know, in today's world, it's probably a little bit more common than in the world I lived in, right?
Because if you saw this, you'd be like, no, no, no, there's no way. But players are different. They just are.And good for the players.I would never do anything like that.I wouldn't have enough gall to do it.I'd be scared to death, you know.
At 12 o'clock, man, I mean, really? There was a 12 o'clock rule in my life, you know.Nothing good happens at 12 o'clock. That's when all the vampires... Is that where you lived?Nothing good happens after midnight? No, 12 o'clock, anywhere in the world.
12 o'clock. When you look at, when you look at right now in today's world, I told my kids, and I told my players when I started, I always tell them, fashion guys say, hey, man, there's a 12 o'clock rule.
If you don't have your business done by 12, go home.Go home.David, are you like that?Go home.
You sound like a man who's never enjoyed the delicacy of a midnight waffle house.Go home.
Go home.At 12 o'clock, man.You know, my father told me this.He said, you know what happens at 12 o'clock? It's like Halloween. All the people come out at 12 o'clock. And I went, you know, as you grow up, you can start looking at this thing.
And I said, you know, my dad was right, man. There's a different clientele at 12 o'clock at night. They're just a little different.
Yeah, listen, the freaks come out at night with her members. That's what I've heard.I don't know. That's all right.
Don't press in. That's another one.Don't do it.You don't get it back.Don't press it.
Herb, thank you very much.Appreciate you both.I'll text you at 1215 and see if you're up for a late-night Waffle House ride.Don't even think about it.All right.Countdown to kickoff is next.

Now, David, this is the part where there are six games today that look on paper to be awful. And you, David Dennis, have to sell to me why I should watch them.
Our producer Nick said this might be the worst set of games we've had this year in terms of selling them. But you, being a man who understands television, I see you on Around the Horn, you have to sell me on watching these games. So let's get started.
I'm going to be a wrestling manager. That's exactly right.
I've got to put butts in seats. You'll be your inner Paul Heyman, your inner Eric Bischoff, your inner Vince McMahon.Although you might not want to be Vince McMahon.Let's not be Vince McMahon. But you can be one of those guys.
And let's do the no huddle.
It's time to go around the National Football League.
No huddles.I'll call the plays from the line.Defense will never know what hit them.
Brown, Richmond, 96, double.
All right, here we go.What is the first game?David needs to sell us.
Tell me why I should watch it.
You got to watch for Kirk Cousins. Not just because in the press conference, he said he's going to walk into your trap, take your trap and he's slowly turning into the white Gucci mane every week that he's lived in Atlanta.
It's because that offense and what they've been doing, the Falcons would want three straight. There's offenses humming and they are now right there with Tampa Bay.They beat Tampa Bay.Top two teams in the NFC South.
They got playoff written all over them. The offense is doing well.Kirk Cousins is better than I thought he was gonna be.And you know, you get the bonus of having him drop random Young Jeezy rap lyrics every time he goes up there.
What does it mean to be the white Gucci Mane?
You know, he's turned into quite the rap star in Atlanta. He's sort of adapted to the Atlanta culture.
Oh, so you're saying like he can go out and people will be like, let's get our lemon pepper chicken wings, Kirk.
I mean, he's turning into Lemon Pepper Kirk right before our eyes.Lemon Pepper Kirk.I'm not sure.I'm not sure how that's happening. You know, he's talking about his swag surf, you know, routine, all that stuff.
You know, Kirk Cousins is turning into, you know.
I don't really trust with white people's swag surf.I saw the Tennessee fans doing it yesterday. It was a sad sight. But hey, maybe it'll work today. You got me convinced.I got to see him swag surf.
What's the next one?You can see the raisins falling out of their pockets as Tennessee landed on the potato salad as they were trying to swim.
Titans at Bills.Mason Rudolph starting for the Titans. Why should I watch?
Because Will Leavis won't be playing, I think.
That makes me want to watch. That doesn't make me not want to watch.I'm sorry. The Bills, new look Bills. You know, offense has gotten a little better, obviously, with the acquisition this week.
Bills are trying to maintain their relevance, maintain their position.Had a couple of tough losses against good teams.I think we're going to watch and see. This should be a dominant win by the Bills.
You know, and hopefully they get their season back on track.
Generally speaking, I try to have a no Mason Rudolph in my life rule, so I would have to violate it to watch today.I'm not sure that I'm going to be able to do that. What's next?
I don't know. You're going to have a hard time with me on this.Who's the Dolphins quarterback? Is it who's even playing today? Is it Huntley again?
Oh, I don't know.Is uh is Tannehill not available?I don't know what's going on.Alright, sell it to sell it to me though.Paul Heyman.Alright, so here we go.You have
uh... dolls and colts you have uh... two teams that are struggling they're trying to get this thing back in track the best thing i can tell you is that there is a zero percent chance that twoa is going to get injured this game and that's really all i can tell you like i am happy that the guy's not playing i do not want to see twoa come back
at all this season i don't think he's a comeback football at all at all at all and i did he's come back a week it is really terrifying to me but other than that richardson is an entertaining player uh... the humbly richardson matchup is not exactly uh... brady manning uh... you know you're at least going to get a good plan
And that was not a good sell job.
You have not made me want to watch it.The idea of watching a game because someone might not get injured doesn't exactly have me running to the remote. But, you know, that's OK.I'd watch because Anthony Richardson.
I mean, I still don't think he's an NFL quarterback, but he does do exciting things. And if he's going to be an NFL quarterback, he's got to start playing well in games like this.So recently, the backups have been better than him.
So we'll see what happens. What's next?
Come on.Sell it to me.The Rams are still fun to watch. The Rams still have some some good receivers there.Raiders.Uh man, they're they're they've clearly punched it on the season.Uh you know, okay, here's something. Here's something.
is that gruden's tiktoks have you seen the gruden took tiktoks where he is so uh they're the greatest things on earth yes he has these tiktoks where he's in a dark like in the woods watching game film on an ipad He's very sweaty.
Seems like he's hopped up on, let's say maybe caffeine of some sort.Eyes are bulging out and he's just giving these plays.I think he'll probably do this game and you're going to have a chance to go see John Gruden's TikTok.
I think that's why you should watch this game.
So wait a minute, John Gruden's TikToks. So this is his account? Oh, wait a minute.I'm looking at it right now.Why is he in the dark?
He's in the dark. He's his face is discolored. You know, is it even his account or is our people like filming him without his consent? It's his account. It's his account. He's now a tick tock star. And, you know, it's high intense.
Um, like I said, I think maybe caffeine maybe something a little stronger is involved in the intensity here And okay, he's so yeah, the account is gruden Loves football.
Yeah gruden loves football and he is sitting in the dark None of this is though going to happen during the raiders rams game though, right?
so why would I you know, you could watch that and then you could watch gruden and uh, you know be You know know what he's talking about as he's as he's doing his tiktok
Wow.He says apparently his catchphrase is nicey. So all right, there you go.Well, let's try one more.Hopefully it'll be better.Panthers and commanders got a stitch phrase is you got me feeling nicey. So there you go.
Well, this game between the Panthers and the camp commanders have me feeling nicey.
Okay. You know, we had Myron Metcalf talk about who he thought the best quarterback in the NFC was. This game features the best quarterback in the NFC right now.Jaden Daniels is the best QB in the NFC right now. He's going to put up monster numbers.
They're going to score 42 points against this Panther team. You're going to, this is going to be like a, like the dream team, like a one player, like when Jordan used to play the worst teams in the league.
That's what you're going to see from Jaden Daniels and his commander squad.
I'm sorry, what is wrong with John Gruden in this video?Like, what happened to that dude?Wow.
There's a few guesses that we can make.
My goodness. All right, you know what?I'm much more interested in this than the games.I'm going to watch John Gruden TikToks, and we'll be back for Eagles Giants. That's next.
