Yeah, you are.So let's cut the bullshit and start the show.
Okay, hello everyone and welcome to the show.
So today we have with us Stephanie Joseph, a Soma Intuitive Coach who works for clients using gene keys, somatics and power of grief to help them to remember who they are and create a life that's in alignment.
And Stephanie has been a serial entrepreneur since 2013.And in 2022, her 37 year old sister went into a coma and she supported her through the process of her death.
And that experience transformed her to live and invite people on a journey to explore their own grief love story and led her to the work she does today.Well, this is going to be a journey and a half.Stephanie, welcome to the show.
Thank you.And thank you so much for having me.
Oh, it's an absolute pleasure. We're gonna have some fun today and talk about so, so much.So can you, can you expand a touch more on where you are today with your business and tell me about who is it that you love to work with?
So where I am at today is I support earlier stage entrepreneurs or those that are transitioning their business.Maybe they were in a corporate space and realizing, you know what, I want to have a soul driven life.
Like have this wake up, the midlife wake up, right? And I support them in the creation process and getting, you know, them dreaming and actually putting things into place.
And then on a personal, like more on the life coaching side, I do support people that are navigating this, you know, this wake up of life and realizing that there's more to it.
You know, I had an epiphany the other day where, you know, my sister's death is what allowed me to live and wake up and to say, you know what, life is short. How am I, living authentically and where am I not?
And I'm like, what if I can help people find that before they have, you know, an event like that happen or before they're forced.Cause I, you know, to me, it was a part of me that was forced to, to wake up even more. And so that's where I'm at.
So I work with people through workshops and one-on-one coaching and I'm building out a network community space for those early stage entrepreneurs. that just need that weekly guidance and support and getting their stuff out there.
I love that thing you said about wanting to work with those people before the events. And it's so beautiful.I think we'd all rather help people not get to that point.I mean, that reminded me, there's a beautiful book, change or die.Fantastic.
But it really goes into in depth how how hard it is for us to human beings to make a change, even if we've got a diagnosis or a big event. So doing it before, oh, my word, it's so much harder or we think it is.So.
Let's let's dive down that rabbit hole.So how how do you guide people and help them to maybe to have that awareness, to see what they can't see on their own.
I think the commonality with those two people you work with, the early stage entrepreneurs in transition and those going through the grief journey, it's both life is short, How do you make the most and enjoy it and enjoy the experience?
So that awareness, what's it like for your clients to see this in that first few stages?
I think first of all, it's just that, you know, the part of, you know, the awareness of something is not right in my life.
You know, I was introduced to somatics in 22 and like the body's response, like fawning and like just going through these motions where I'm like, I'm living for everybody else and I'm not living for myself.
And so that initial like awareness around something doesn't feel good.I'm grumpy all the time.I'm yelling at my kids.I'm, you know, whatever that is, or I'm going, drudging, going to my job every single day.
and just taking those pauses to say, you know what, something doesn't feel good. And so what would be next? And I think that embracing that, that moment of the pieces that aren't working the parts.
Cause I don't think it's, you know, when you, when I work with my clients and you sit back, it's not everything is a dumpster, a dumpster fire.Like it's usually just a few pieces of it.And so
can we first like honor the parts that are really working, but then the parts that are not, like, okay, let's get clear of what, you know, what that is.My motto is that life is a series of transitions and changes.
So to embrace that you're going to have change in your life, like, yeah, you're right. We like hold onto this notion that I can't change. And I think that that's what holds us back from actually remembering and being,
you know, the innate beautiful gift that we are to the world and to ourselves, but we just resist that change of that.We want to stay in that comfortable place.
We want to stay in that comfortable place, which is super duper uncomfortable.
That embracing change, beautifully put.So embracing change. How do you help
your clients mentally or physically to embrace change or maybe get them ready for change or maybe shift what they're thinking or feeling so that in this, the change in their business or the change with family or people, that they can more be present and enjoy the mess being inside that experience, if you will.
Yeah, my biggest thing is getting into your body. When we're resisting the change, we have a lot of that head talk and that, you know, the head chatter on it.You know, I'm not, I can't do this thing or, you know, Oh, that's just the way things are.
And really getting people to rest in their body and finding the parts of themselves that can feel calm. in amidst the chaos.I think that chaos swirls around us all of the time.
I mean, it's from a collective, from a global and from just our individual lives, we have all of this swirling around us that we get into that headspace where it is just that constant negative chatter.
And so I do a lot of work of getting present in the body, allowing this body, this part of us that has auto responses and ways to help us navigate But it gets out of that, that, that mind chatter and that happened to go, go, go and figure it out.
Like the mind wants to have to figure it out.
And when we can pause and get present with what it is right now, then the answers in the navigation and the, you know, what, what's right for us will come through, but we can't get there if we're just in the constant go.
Yeah, but what is the connector?Because I love talking about the beliefs and the thoughts and how to shift these perspectives. That's the mental game. But the connector to this reality, this world, is our body.
Therefore, to only focus on one aspect, the beliefs, the thoughts, the stories, if we can separate these things, and I think they are truly two separate entities, if you will, this body, this flesh suit that I have,
has its own memories, has its own feelings, has its own automatic responses. So they're almost two very different systems working at once.
So how do you, what are the, especially for entrepreneurs, let's talk about that, especially for entrepreneurs, that's how do you, what tactics, what tools can you share that can bring someone back in that moment when they're, if it's feeling like, or they think it's chaos,
simplest tool and we all have access to it is breath, right?Just taking that deep pause in that breath and just being like, okay, here's what it is.And then taking a time to like start all, what is all of my frustrations?
What are the things I'm worried about? What is the, you know, all of the tasks that I have to do.And I am a sole believer of, you know, brain dumping and getting the things down.So then you can go to it and start prioritizing and,
you know, I, I come from more of the mystical space, you know, so, you know, it's about like, some of this stuff really doesn't matter, but it's in there swirling.
So if I can just dump it, if I can just get it out and I can focus on what, what tasks at hand do I need to be doing, or, you know, especially entrepreneurs, like the early stage, right. You're wearing all the hats.
I know you've talked about that on your podcast, you know, we're, you know, we start wanting to, move beyond our comfort zone right and growing a business and doing things but we're wearing the hats of everything in our business.
And I think that sometimes we get focused on, I know personally for me I've been focused on like just the things that I'm okay at, but not the things that I excel at.
Because again, going back to the comfort, the things I'm okay at, I can just push through those and get those busted out real quick. But the growth and the uncomfortable part and seeking support from other people that then can keep you going on that.
But I guess just to go back is just bring it, everything that's swirling around, how do we bring it into what actually matters right now? and not, yeah, yeah.
That's a beautiful way to bring it into what matters right now.Ooh, just to bring it into what Katie calls is to call back your energy, to bring this back in.So what matters right now?
Let me maybe just pivot or shift or expand that with a question I wrote down as you were talking a few minutes ago. when you're talking about the chaos. Now that chaos, my question was, is it chaos? Now let me expand on that.
Everything's going out in the world, society, things are happening. But if you are completely at one, regulated in the best version of yourself in that moment, you can probably be in this situation that doesn't feel like chaos.
So there can be people swirling around things happening, but for you, it's not chaos because of your mental state and your emotional states. Can you expand? This is a clumsy thought. So I'm just gonna throw it back to you.Can you expand on that?
Is, is, is it really chaos or is it your perception?
Yeah, well, I was, it's interesting because I was actually having this conversation with a client where I was talking about her holding her pole.
So I use human design in Gene Keys, which is, you know, an astrological system that, you know, for me, it's a gift of remembrance of who you are.You know, I have this unique design.
So I was talking to her about just this individual pole, her gifts that keep her centered and in that space.
And so as we were talking, she goes, you know, I've had this vision of, you know, a light, like I'm a lighthouse, and the light goes out the top and the, you know, and I said, Well, it probably goes out below too.
But there was also these like, patterns of, you know, the light shining out.And so I think when you're in your innate gifts, and in your center, and in that pole, the chaos can be swirling, or the stuff can be swirling around you, but you're
solid in yourself. Now, here's the thing, though, what I found is not a lot of people, the ones that the people that I work with, they haven't found that hole within themselves.
They haven't found that solid thing that allows them to, this is who I am.This is, you know, this is who I am in me. not the expectations of who I thought I should be, but this is actually who I am.
And so that's maybe where I brought in the concept of chaos, because they haven't found that way for them to center into themselves, to find that pole, p-o-l-e, pole in that middle.
And it's, it's different for everyone. So when you work with your clients, are you almost, is it almost like you're finding their, their instruction manual is the thing that we should have had when we first started, but we didn't get it.
Um, it's like when you, you get a device gifted to you, like there's, there's no manual on how to work this. There's buttons. And it's like, I don't know how to work it when we. we need to find out what's right for us.
So there's a gazillion modalities, there's so many breathwork types, there's so many meditations, et cetera, et cetera.
But to find those ones that's right for you, how much of that is part of the game and how much of that do you enjoy when you try and get those right ones for your clients?
I, it's to me, like I had a, I meditate a lot.So in a meditation, I saw, you know, all of these things just lead us back to ourselves, all of these modalities, all the things just lead us back to ourselves.
So for me, it is a game because it's, you know, the, the, removing the parts of you that are not you.
You know we grow up we have certain expectations from parents from you know maybe a religious upbringing or whatever we have all of these expectations and especially being an entrepreneur you're getting raw and naked in front of the world you know and for me it's a very soul-driven like I'm here for a purpose I'm here for a reason so
I do.I think that is also a playful way of seeing it.
But, you know, we're taking off these masks and taking off these cloaks and finding out, unforgetting ourselves so that we can remember that we are, you know, the gift in the business that we create. We are the ones.
So it just for me, the human design and the Genki's was a piece that was like, I get it.And then when I add it with the semantics and the body,
and the, you know, forgetting, like literally a lot of forgetting the stuff that was handed to me, you know, the talk a lot of, you know, your parents handed you the baggage of their stuff. And then, you know, your teachers, all of that.
And now, you know, as an adult.
Take my fears and my doubts and my perceptions.Yeah.Yeah.Which comes from a good place most often. However, it's still the gift that sometimes you can return this.
Yes, return to sender with thanks and with love.
Hey, I'm curious.So what's your human design?
I am a sacral generator. One three profile.Yeah.I'm not sure how much you know.Yeah.
I know enough to be Katie knows much more than I do.As a, as a screening projector, it's my, it's my job to guide, bring things in, to see things and guide and guide and guide. So your job is, you're the kind of people that are like, I can guide you.
You know what you're doing. You get to do the thing, but you need a bit of, a bit of guidance.
I come to you for the guidance.
Exactly. This is the fun we get to do today. How do we, how do we put this into motion?
From what you said earlier about the what is you and remembering, especially as an entrepreneur, it's super hard because you get all these beliefs, told what to do, all the tactics of what you need to do and how to do it.There's a lot that happens.
So with the knowledge that you have of yourself and the tools and the tactics, That's fantastic, but then you're taking on the entrepreneurship, which naturally brings in kind of more chaos and more questions.
And maybe you have to maybe use this even more to keep yourself, especially as you scale and as you grow.So what's it like for you as an entrepreneur knowing this stuff, but going through the entrepreneurial journey?
You know, it's the get go back.I feel naked. You know, I had a, a client that I was talking to that she was a chef and an excellent chef.
Well, you know, she knew that well, and then she shifted and had some life changes and she wanted to shift careers. And she was like, why is it so hard for me to do this thing?
And I said, because before you could put on your, your chef's coat and walk in and do, and it's very, Um, it's a thing you do versus for me, entrepreneurship and my business is a thing I be.
And so I, I don't necessarily get to put on my chef's coat, you know, I'm just like, okay, here I am.And especially where I'm very open about sharing my, my grief story and sharing all that I, I'm out there naked.
And so I think a lot of people, you know, just to kind of share it for other people, to be naked is scary to be without that chef's coat or whatever the code is that you had.Um, and so it's, I get to be very careful of what advice I bring in.
Um, because I've been down the online space, the funnel world, the building, you know, the, these, the, and I was like, yes, yes, yes.And then I started getting sick or my body started being like, this just doesn't feel good. I'm not dismissing it.
It works for so many people. And I, and I love that. But then there was a parts that just didn't feel good for me.
And so as I've had to keep, you know, my whole design is about love and, and trust me when I learned that and I'm in a business, I'm like, I'm just here to love. This is so boring.Like, come on now I've embraced it.And I, I, I love it.
But I think for me, I just have to be careful of what advice does come in and just really be checking in with my body often.
And because I have been swayed other ways, I had a whole business completely transformed based off of what somebody else recommended. And I didn't have the strength of the time.
That's the messy middle of being an entrepreneur to say, hey, wait a minute, that actually doesn't feel good. How is there another way you can guide me that honors what my
uh requests are and uh would have been nice to have a projector in that in that room that is that is the skill that we we learn by experience that's you know taking the wrong courses having the wrong mentors reading the wrong books listening to the wrong advice coming across the wrong videos whatever it might be for us to have the strength to say hold on this doesn't feel right i'm a true believer with any coaching that
It shouldn't be, here's what you need to do.It's, what do you want to do?How do we almost, how do we apply this for you? There's a framework.
There has to be, there has to be some level of guidance, but there has to be that level of personalization, of fun, of playfulness that's right for you.So what was,
When was it that you sort of had that realization of, huh, I'm, I'm doing the wrong thing here.I shouldn't be doing this. And maybe you didn't realize it until it was like much later on.What was that like?
I did.I did know it was 2019.I was burnt out.I was tired.I'd had no joy.Like I'd wake up and just not, you know, I'm like, I don't want to do this anymore. And I, and it breaks my heart.Like, and I'm glad I went through it.
Cause then I can resonate with people in this space that it is hard and there's times many, many times you want to throw in the towel. And for me, I needed to, I threw in the towel.
I ended up committing, you know, just going back into the corporate space and just having that security. And I closed down and I shut it down for a little bit and 2020 hit, COVID hit.
Hold on, if you don't mind. So, because of the you couldn't see what you wanted or couldn't listen to yourself and was given the wrong advice that felt wrong, which gave you then the wrong results, that
put you in a position where you pause, I'm going back to get a job.It was almost like, I'm done.Did you know you were returning?Or in that moment it was like, I don't care if I ever return.
I was done.I'm like, I just want to go.But I even approached my corporate job differently than I had in the past.Because I gave, I mean, I was very successful in my corporate.I feel like it's a far distant past.
But no, I was in and I'm like, I'm going in, I'm going to work, coming home, being with my family. That's it.And I was done.I had no intentions of returning.
OK, so riddle me this. What was it that just sort of what brought you back to this glorious, glorious world?
Oh, I'm a glutton for punishment, I guess. You know, I'm a dreamer.I'm a dreamer and I've truly always felt that I was here to serve and to, you know, be a part of the change.I'm, you know, that cliche, imagine a world where
we do have peace and love. That's who I was as a child. That's who I am as, you know, an adult. And so, um, it was just that, that dream kind of sparked inside me COVID helped because then, you know, things started just slowing down a little bit.
And for me, it was actually a beautiful, um, blessing and a time to slow down. And I call it my cocoon year of just going in and saying, okay, I'm going to remove all of the noise. And so when I emerged as a butterfly, I saw things very differently.
I saw that I could create a business that supported me, create a business that supported my family.I have young kids. They are my life right now.And so I'm like, can I do both?
Can I be in a space that I can have a thriving business and be a thriving mother at the same time? And that's what has been my focus since I decided to emerge and come back into it.
And yes, such a good word rather than but or the contradiction.I want to have this, but I don't want to do this.
No, and you want a thriving business that actually helps people and serves and also fuels your life to be able to be present and provide for your family.
Yeah.So how, how is that possible? It is possible. So many people can do this. It's not all hustle and grind or single focused. There's a time we have to work, of course.
There's cycles.Yeah.Cycles.
There are cycles.There are seasons.
So what?Okay. So there's another rabbit hole. What season are you in right now in business?
You know, I am in a season, I'm truly ready to grow.I wanna make a bigger impact.
I do see, you know, I've been just having some beautiful epiphanies and conversations with people of when I'm using my voice that it does resonate and it does, it's a powerful story of life and death and the cycles and seasons in life in general.
And so I'm in that space of, I'm ready to grow, I'm ready to expand, I wanna reach thousands, thank you for that earlier, you know, reach people that, you know, do want to be inspired to, you know, find what motivates them.
It's all, you know, like you said, we're all different. We're all unique. So what motivates them? But I'm ready to grow.I'm ready to, you know, be flying and I'm fine already, but to reach higher peaks.
Yeah.Okay.So what's What's either missing or what don't you have right now that will be the, maybe a catalyst or maybe we'll take it into the negative side. What do you think that you need right now that maybe you don't?
So whichever way you want to sort of take this question, I love sort of butchered it completely. What do you need or think you need right now?
more people to hear, more people to listen, you know, just a broader reach and hence why I decided to, you know, okay, it's time to get on different platforms and talk to different people. And, you know, just more people to hear.
And I believe, like, I don't subscribe to pain point marketing.I like people to come into my space because they're excited to be in my space.
And so by me simply sharing my story and telling you what I have to offer and, you know, this is the journey.
And, you know, I do talk very candidly about the messy middle of things and in the conversations, but just being able to touch people and then what lights that up inside of them that they're like, hey,
I actually am more curious about what she could do to support me.
Or maybe there's the moms out there that are, you know, like juggling the business and juggling this, that they're like, wait, there's, I can have it all, you know, how can I have it all?
And so I think it's just, you know, touching those people that are ready to hear it.
Yeah.Okay.So for those people to hear, those people to listen, to, we said it earlier about sort of setting the intention.
I just want to, if I can only help one person, no, what if I help thousands, what if millions to set that intention for where we're going and your attention is growth and impact using your voice. That's what I've heard so far.
Is that because, because there's existing ways that you can do this. There are all these ways that you want to, I mean, trust me, you can probably search internet. You'll see me dancing in pink cowboy hats.We were told to do this by our agency.
Alignment, it didn't quite work out well for us, but what, so what, how do, how do you want to do this? The essence of how you want to be seen, get out there.
transparency, sharing, you know, the, the rawness of what, you know, this, this human experience is about, have more fun with it.
I'll give me a pink cowboy hat.Let's have some fun.Cause I tend to be, you know, informed there's more on the serious side.So having more fun with it and just, you know, I always say I wish for my, so my vision of,
money in the financial side, if more heart-centered people had the billions of dollars, our world would look dramatically different.
So my impact, that's my intention, is to be able to get people growing their business, making money so that they can be putting back out there and making the change, you know, and being the change. And even just saying it like,
That's the intention that I have, that more people like me, I'm gonna just say, like I would be investing back into the changing the systems and being there.
And I think that there's a plethora of abundance, like there's limitless possibilities for all of us.And that's what I would wanna see changed.
And so, yeah, so part of your specialty here is those early stage entrepreneurs who need the help the most, especially with themselves in this, the crazy making the chaos, the juggling everything.
But to give them that clarity and that confidence and that calm. Those are skills. Those are skills that you.
Probably you can take into relationships, into your health, into everything, everything, everything, but from a entrepreneurship, those people at that early stage. What's the one, let's end here.
What's the one message that you can give to those people to give them the gift of understanding just how important this is.
And say, if you have that dream inside of you and you're not sharing it, you're denying the world of you. You're denying all of us to experience your magic. And it wasn't placed on you for no reason. So whatever it is, it's meant to be birthed.
It's meant to come alive because we all deserve to experience it.The world deserves to experience it.Your people deserve to experience it.And you're kind of denying yourself and denying all of us that magic.
It's a beautiful way of putting it.How dare you hold yourself back? You have a responsibility. So from that place, that takes you up the emotional scale.
It takes you away from the worried, the blue, maybe the sort of depressed or the worried or the anxious into, at least I'll get you into fight. So how dare you not share, right? So now we get into energy. Now it's how into your world.
Now, how do you manage and use and leverage that energy through somatics, through yourself, through the right tools and tactics that you provide.Beautiful, love that.
