We figured it'd be more appropriate to have her husband on talking about fancy suites and Ben, because we have so many fantasy suites lately.No fancy suites.You don't even like going on dates.
I always ask you to dinner or like we did that. And you're always like well not tonight like because of the hours with our nanny.
Who's the best but it obviously if we ever come later than the day portion so there's a hole in the middle so like i like to do it when you know we got built in grandparents and now you projected me numerous times jack did you.
never um no anyway okay um our kid has the hiccups behind us and ben couldn't make the episode today so that's why i'm filling in it has nothing to do with the fantasy suite anyway we're recapping jones fantasy suite with let me take a stab here guy
Good job.Yeah.So it's it's it's fine.Jared doesn't watch this.He doesn't want to watch.I watch.Oh, no.He watched this episode, but he hasn't.I've seen watched.It's not.
I love the show.I support the show.
Just two kids, a business, you know, plus football season.Like that's the only the only top priority.And it's fine between the World Series football.Like I got a lot going on my plate right now if I have any TV time at all.
But actually makes it more fun for me to talk to Jared when he hasn't really been following the whole season, because now I can get his first impressions right here for you guys.And I told him I was like, we're not going to talk about the episodes.
We watch it separately. And I was like, we're not going to talk about the episode until we press record, because I want to ask you a whole bunch of questions.Yeah.And I want them to also get your first reaction to them.
OK, so who is your who's your favorite of all these three guys?Who do you enjoy watching the most?I will say this is not the most enthralling episode.They didn't their personalities didn't quite shine.
The front runner and my favorite to watch are both the same.And it's clearly chalk.
I mean, there's like, Guy has to be, he's very sweet, very nice.Like when I'm saying these things at first, I feel like I have to put a disclaimer out there because they're all a little, you know, my elders, I don't want to respect my elders.
They're all very good looking.Joan is beautiful.These guys seem super sweet.They're grandpas.So, you know, I just wanted to put that disclaimer out because they're all wonderful men.
But Guy's got to be like the worst second place finisher of all time.
Oh, my God.No offense to our very good looking.
But like in terms of the connection between him and Joan, did it she's he's number two.And she went into the date being like, I don't know, like he said he loves me.But I just I mean, she was so hesitant.It's very clear that she is all in on chalk.
The worst second place finisher next to our friend and lovely guy Justin from Katie Thurston season.Like the fact that Justin got second.
Justin was not second.Yes, he was.Who did she pick?
Justin. Not Justin Glaze.Yeah, Justin Glaze.Justin Glaze was not second.Shut up.
He was.And then Greg was the third left, remember?
And then Andrew was fourth.
Greg left on his own, making Justin the runner up.And that's very similar to what happened in this episode.
Oh, so Justin was realistically third.
Yeah, yeah. OK, yes, Jared's looking at Bachelorette history now.That's so crazy.OK, that is crazy.And it is just as crazy, if not crazier, that Guy has gotten this far.I have never felt a connection between Joe and Joan and Guy.
I don't think Joan has either.So there is this in this episode that she's like catching up with him.I don't believe it.Well, also, it's so Listen, as an audience here, just to speak your mind and your truth.
And well, no, not my truth.I don't want to be a jerk about things because, you know, Joan's very sweet and we say things.We all say things in the moment that is hyperbole or things that we regret later.We're like, oh, we didn't really mean that.
My point in saying this was when, you know, Joan like this idea that she's picking someone for the rest of her life. And like this guy can catch up to her feelings towards chalk in a matter of four hours.
I mean, talk about like not giving validity to the, you know, love that is the love of the show.
Let me make you feel a little bit better about talking a little smack.Guy has a restraining order.His his ex-wife got a restraining order on him.
Damn, that's crazy.I can't believe he's on the show.
Yeah.So it's one of those other seems like it felt the cracks situations.But to give whatever I don't know anything about that credit, his kids seemed warm to him last week.
And also, I'm sure there's a lot more to the story than we're aware of. So my point being, I don't really care.I'm more focused on the TV aspect of the show, because that's what we're watching and that's what we're talking about.
And for this, yeah, there's no connection with Guy.Even before she goes on the date, she has a meet up with Nancy.And I have split thoughts about this.
Nancy is so pretty, but that's all.And I just love her personality.
Yeah, we she was at the Golden Bachelor wedding.She was very sweet.
Yeah, she they're both from Northern Virginia.Well, they're from the.
Oh, very nice.Good personalities.

So before Nancy shows up, Joan said something that was actually pretty interesting.And she said she's never done anything like this and has gone through it alone.And that was pretty eye-opening to me, I guess.It's so simple, but yet so true.
And I think it also factors into why sometimes I feel like contestants, you know, we did the same thing. get so riddled with anxiety and are so overly stressed about everything.
Because in everyday life, you're able to rely on your friends and your family and have them put input in there and be there on every step of the way to ensure that like, hey, listen, if things go wrong, like I'll be right there.We'll be OK.
But yeah, it is crazy to think.And I can't believe I've never really thought about it in detail before before Joan said something.
Was that like, yeah, you really are just making every decision by yourself, because as much as we love producers and I love them so much and they are our friends, we're also very aware that they have a job to do.
You never thought of this before?
I guess I never really thought like, oh, my God.Yeah, they're just never like I've thought about it, but I never really thought about the magnitude and the gravitas of it.The fact that like you are choosing everything by yourself.
It is crazy because you do need outside perspectives.That's why friends and family members are so important.
That's why hometowns and the final two meeting the families is so important.
I know there really should be more time.It's not really.
Well, Ben and I were talking about that last week, how hometowns maybe should happen earlier on.
So I loved how they brought in a friend to the show.But it's like Nancy's known her for five minutes.
a year, even even not even a year.
And it's not Nancy's fault.And it's also not the TV.It's not the Bachelorette's fault, because you want to bring someone in that the audience knows, because if they bring in a random friend, they're like, Oh, what do I care about this?
At least it's Nancy, like, Oh, they have a friendship, they have a rapport.But it would have been a lot more impactful and helpful, probably for Joan, if it was somebody who had known her for more than just a year.
Yeah, a daughter, family member, close friend.
But that would have been weird talking about that, you know, with a daughter.That would have been weird.She's about to introduce her daughter to, presumably, to somebody next week.
But so yeah, with the Nancy thing, I thought that was, it was like, and then Nancy said something, again, love her to death, so sweet.But she said that she's never seen Joan so hopeful before.
And it's like, oh yeah, you guys just go back to elementary school.You've never seen her so hopeful before.Like, it's not her fault, obviously.Very sweet, very wonderful thing to say.
But obviously, my eyes rolled to the back of my head a little bit, because I'm like, yes, you've known her for so long.
Well, one theme of the season that I'm not sure is like one of those producer themes, they just kind of wanted to drag it out or whether it's just Joe not being ready, but she just keeps saying, like, I'm feeling guilty about my husband, you know, John.
And I keep thinking about him and blah, blah, blah.Maybe she's not ready. No, I disagree.I think really because they did really, really every week.It's it's I don't know.I feel guilty.I'm feeling guilty.I'm like, maybe your guy's just not here.
Her guy may not be there, but that doesn't mean that she isn't ready.
I don't think she would feel as guilty if her guy was truly there.
maybe i don't know i mean how long was she with her ex-husband with 40 years yeah so it's like i don't i i i don't think you time is a very important thing i understatement of the year right there but i don't think any guy entering her life at this stage is ever going to be able to have her
not think about her ex-husband who died that she was with for 40 years.
Not ex-husband, late husband.
Late husband, excuse me, for the terminology.But for example, how long have we known each other?
Sorry, we've been together seven years and we've known each other for nine and a half.
Yeah, so let's just say 10 years, right?We're both 36.So we had 26 years of our life without each other.And think about how impactful the last 10 years have been on our lives.
Yes.Times that by four.No, but that's why I don't even know how I feel.I don't know if I would ever be interested in dating again.And I know that my parents wouldn't.Yeah, I don't know either.
Yeah it's just about this before during golden bachelor we got like weird cuz we were like would we love each other i mean like what i was more of like how you know just talking and fantasy but i got emotional and then you're like why are you crying yeah i mean that's pretty much all looking for daily lives what time.
Yeah, I mean, I don't think there's anything wrong with her.She's going to feel guilty.She's going to feel as if she's doing something wrong.
And I'm glad that Nancy, you know, talked to her about those things and reminded her as her friend that she's not doing anything wrong. You know, I mean, it's just unfortunately death is a part of life.
And, you know, she lost her husband and so sad and she's going to feel guilty.And then there's nothing wrong with that.And I would hope that the guy that she picks, whether it be guy or chalk, if she picks guy, that's the craziest thing ever.
So let's just not.So when when she picks chalk.OK. you know, I'm sure he's gonna be extremely, I would hope that he's very understanding.And the fact that like, you know, at least in the beginning, he could feel comfortable talking about it.
Well, he lost his fiance.Yeah.And it was sort of similar.
Very sad way.I mean, I guess all ways are sad at that, especially at that stage.Okay, well, The guy thing, I can really continue to focus on the fact that it's weird that he's gotten this far.But I guess we'll just leave it at that.
I will say one more thing about his personality.This is not even knowing that he had a restraining order.He seems like he's so calm and subdued and soft-spoken that he seems like he literally could be a volcano and explode at any time deep in there.
Didn't he come across as I don't want to like it.
Uh, I mean, he's an older guy, so I never really thought twice about it in terms of like he just, you know, all these all these guys just remind me of like grandpas, you know, but they're also very young.
And yeah, they're like they look young for their age and they're good looking.So like, I guess, yeah, because Pascal doesn't really feel like a grandpa.
But Pasqual is a grandpa.
Yeah.I think I think that Chuck actually isn't a grandpa.
Interesting, he feels the oldest out of all three of them.
Yeah, he does.Okay, did you notice that he has Peyton Manning's voice?
You didn't actually pick this out?
I need to hear him say Omaha, and then I'll figure out if he sounds like Peyton Manning or not.
No, no, no, you're gonna watch another episode and you'll be like, oh my goodness gracious.Okay, so do you think that he comes on a little strong?Which one?Now we're moving on to Chuck.
My biggest thing about shock is that he just says everything he's thinking.
He's like, I'm obsessed with you.I love you.You're the magical woman.I've never felt like this before.I don't know.Yeah, it's like I don't want to say love bombing, but it's like it's very intense passion.
And if I almost think because he also he uses the word competition a few times, I'm just almost I'm concerned. Well, because he's saying he's trying to say the right thing every time he speaks, but I am concerned that shock.
He just says he's just too.He's a little too good sometimes because he's saying all like all he is kind of love bombing her a little bit.
And it could be very genuine, and he could be 100% sincere about everything, but he also, it's just like, every time he says something, it's all about how perfect Joan is, and how much he loves her, and how much he wants her part of her life, and how she can move mountains, and all these incredible things, and it's so sweet, and it's so nice, but also feels like, alright bro, are you just going, like, are, do you mean all these things, or are you just,
just saying them.Because he also talks about the other guys, which is okay, of course you're going to talk about the other guys, but he used the word competition a couple times and it just made me feel as if, are you a little competitive?
And maybe you're not intentionally doing this, but subconsciously you want to win Joan rather than be with Joan. Like you want to be with her.
I'm not doubting that Chalk wants to be with her, but is there a part of you that kind of wants to win this just as much as you want to be with Joan?That'd be my only concern with Chalk.Having said that, they definitely have the best chemistry.
She definitely makes out with him, like I mentioned last week.And like everybody else, it's kind of like you don't really feel it physical.
Yeah.And my advice, especially at this point in their lives, would be especially, you know, for Joan and Chalk, guys out of it that just go for it, you know, and try not to think too much and have fun and be with each other and just live life.
You know, even like we look back upon last season, right?Golden Bachelor, everybody gave shit, including ourselves a little bit to Teresa and Gary about getting married. and rushing into things, and then they got divorced.
And I understand why people would get mad because we're investing in these people's relationships, but also in the same breath, I'd say just go for it.
You guys are both in your 60s, your 70s.Not getting married.Yeah, that's like paper.
But just be with each other.So maybe not get married, but just.
He's ready to propose, though.He will be living engaged, he said.
It's just like a little everything.Everything about shock is a little too perfect.And it's like he wants to get engaged.He's so madly in love with her.You know, I don't know.It's just that would be my only red flag.I don't think it's a big deal.
But if I'm picking knits here, that's one of them for chalk.
OK, so that was something I was going to say, because it was either he was feeling the competition or he was in such a bachelor land mode where like he couldn't see anything but hearts.You know what I mean?
Yeah.OK, because when we're there, we're just like, you are everything in the entire world.Can't imagine anything better.Well, you got to.Yeah.You jump out into reality.
You think about crystals on your seat.I mean, the only guy there looking at the entire world, you know, and when you're not with Chris, you're with producers who are talking up Chris.
Like, isn't he so sweet and so nice and so handsome and all these things?So they just get built up. And to a certain extent, everything that, you know, that is true, but nobody's perfect, obviously.
So Chris just like, Kaitlin just like us, we'll have our flaws.So it's a relationship, you know, relationship.
It's a compatibility thing.You like, are kind of like brainwashing yourself into thinking that you're super compatible.
Yeah, that could work out that you could live in Deadwood, Iowa, or wherever the hell that is.Not Deadwood, I got adopted.South Dakota?Deadwood, South Dakota.Got it.And then where does he live in Iowa?
He lives in... I don't know, somewhere. I forget now.
Yeah, you think, oh my God, you couldn't, you don't like Rhode Island, well, you do like Rhode Island, but do you think you could live in Iowa?
Okay, moving on.So they had our, there's our same first date.They had our first date.
Oh, did you love how slow they were going?
You think they were going slower than us?
I was like, okay, that makes sense.Insurance purposes, you can't go over seven miles per hour.
I don't know, when they went to the wide shot, it was like he was going over a speed bump.And I'm like, OK, well, I get that.You know, Jones in the car.You don't want to do anything too crazy.Everybody's alert.Everybody's ready to go.
Ambulance is on scene.She spoke to both the guys about how she wasn't going to do anything physical in the fantasy suite, which, I mean, I don't even think there's much to say here.I agree.
I think that's kind of how it should be on pretty much every season.But I'm a little bit more conservative in that realm of life.What do you think?That's kind of unfair, though.No, no, no.OK. I think it's cleaner like that.
I think it's cleaner to do it like that.I don't know that the fantasy suite has ever really changed somebody's mind.
I would love to talk to bachelors and bachelorettes in the past and been like, did the physicality in the fantasy suite ever totally steer you in a different direction?
I would say it steers you in a different direction, but it gives it either gives more validity to your feelings or maybe take some away. Listen, you know, intimacy is a part of a relationship.
And so I have no problems with, you know, somebody going to fantasy suites and exploring different avenues of a relationship.But I will agree with you, of course, it it muddies the waters, muddies the waters because you're dating three other people.
Like, that's why I understand the potential of having sex with three people in a matter of a week. Yes, or actually a matter of like six days, usually.Yes, it's every other day, usually.Anyway, I'm being technical here.So I don't know.It's cleaner.
I understand if you go the other route.However, here, did you think they were trying to pretend to allude to the fact that she did more with Chuck then?
I did, and I thought they were trying to.I don't think she did.I just think that they were trying to make it seem like that. Um, anything else worth mentioning about those two guys?
Uh, no, you know, it's just.
I also think we should add that, like one of the two of them said that intimacy is different at like 25 and it is a 35 and 45.And I think, like, especially at their age, it's like they don't like really those guy.
Yeah, because you don't really I don't know.We're not that old, but like I don't think it's. Like what they really want right now is companionship.Well, they're really looking for us.
Yeah, of course.I mean, it's just the circle of life.You know, sex is not when you're in your early 20s.It's just intimacy is a lot different than how you view it in your 30s and how you view it in your 40s and so on and so forth.
And but that's not just about sex.It's about love and friendship and you know, responsibility and accountability.I mean, it's just, I think as you get older in life, you get more perspective, you gain more knowledge.I hope you do.
You learn every day, which is why we respect our elders, because we see them as somebody who's smarter than ourselves.So I think sex is just a part of a larger conversation in that.

You you were like I was like, Jared, what happened with the Pascal thing was like super dramatic at the end.And then you're like, what?No, he left.And I'm like, he was like, hey, can you like not have the camera on there for a second?
I'm like, oh, wow.There's definitely not as dramatic as we thought it would be. Pascal that I thought was going to happen at the ceremony, the bonding ceremony they had.
I thought she was going to stand up there and be like, I can't do a ceremony that's not with my husband.I thought she was going to have this big realization moment.But actually, she handled that fine.
I thought he was going to go to Joan before the day even began, because when he sat down with Jesse, he definitely was showing signs of not being fully in.
I mean, he said it clear as day to Jesse. And Pascal seems very sweet.Again, disclaimer, we loved his character.
Ben and I loved him.We came out of hometowns of him being our favorite.
Yeah, because we thought that he was what she needed at this chapter of her life.Just kind of fun.
It potentially could be, but obviously won't be with Pascal.
He kept saying, I think we're in a good spot because you and I both are like still have our walls up, like you're still hesitant about jumping into something like this.I am as well.And we're like, yeah, maybe like they both couldn't go slow together.
But apparently that's not what anybody wanted here.
He apparently not because he changes his mind even before the next time he saw her.So that's pretty impressive.He yeah, as soon as he said that with Jesse, it's like, OK, well, he's obviously just taking himself out of this.
So when they went through the whole day, it was certainly awkward is not the correct word to use, but it was just procrastinating or, you know, putting it off.I was like, OK, let's you know, he's leaving.Why are we going through this date?
Like he should have just said it before the date. But that's fine.Maybe he thought he was going to change his mind again.
He sees three hours like, you know, let's see.You see, I've seen when he started, he was like, OK, let's let's let's do he said one line that was like, yeah, and hopefully we can get there today.Yeah.
And whenever you say that, it's like, no, it's over.But when he sat down with Jesse, yeah, because he was talking about You know, a lot of he's never been married, correct?
Oh, OK.Because he said he was dating someone recently.
Yeah.Yeah.But it seems that he's been divorced for quite some time.They were only married for seven, nine, nine years, somewhere in there.
Yeah, I think Pascal just, I applaud his honesty, letting her know that he's not looking for anything, he's not looking to get married, he's not looking for anything serious right now.
Did he say, I'm not looking to get married?
I'm just assuming, if he's telling Joan that he's not looking for anything serious.
I think that he just wasn't into her enough.
Of course, I think that's, I think if it was the woman of his dreams, he would propose.
So it just, him and Joan didn't work out.
It's an easier way of saying it.
Less offensive way of saying it's it's I just it's not I don't think Joan was into it either I think she actually felt in that moment when she was at dinner.
I got the sense that she felt a little relief That she wasn't the one who was gonna have to break up with him because she she she didn't really fight back when she said She said something about how this made her sad, but if this is you know, what you feel is right, then you should do it and
And it was just like, you know, OK, you guys are both ready to just walk away from this, which I totally get.And, you know, thank you for your service.And I bid you adieu.
I left this episode just thinking.She's not into it enough for anywhere. Chalk is so much more into her.
So Chalk's not, he's not the guy, huh?
No, I mean, he's gonna be the guy if she chooses a guy, obviously.If she doesn't choose guy, he'll be, Chalk will be the guy.But I just don't know.
But it's interesting, because it's kind of like the Golden Bachelor in that way, because he ended up with Teresa, and we were like, really?You have the strongest feelings for Teresa?
Yeah, who was his runner-up?
Leslie, yeah. I forgot about Leslie.She's so sweet.
And then Faith.Everybody thought it was going to be like Faith and Leslie.
And then she ended up with... And then he chose Teresa.And then they got divorced.
So... I don't know.I don't know.I hope she's happy.That's all I care about.Chaka seems like a really great guy.
She should be happy.I guess that's my also advice for her right now is that... I just don't want her to feel forced into anything.

And I just don't think that the show should be ending with an engagement.

At this point in my life, though, I understand getting the engagement for the 20-somethings, the early 30-somethings.
because you're about to embark on whole life together, children together, la la la, but these people are just looking for somebody to hang with for the rest of that year.So I don't think you have to put a ring on it.That fast.
I know, but if you're talking about the TV aspect of it, you gotta have stakes.

Plus worse because the worst they if they get engaged i mean what happened with gary and teresa's that they got married yeah and then they had to get divorced a month later that was the mistake yeah i don't think getting engaged was the mistake yeah okay fine well i don't want them to have the pressure of getting married which i do not think that they will put on this couple
no after what happened not after what happened and to like the ratings are just not as bonanzas as menzas i just kind of came up with that word as that season was and they just really wanted to profit off of it do you think that there'll be another season of golden apparently they're casting for it i saw that yeah as long as it doesn't impede paradise then sure
I really just think maybe don't even cast another Golden Bachelor, just do the Golden Paradise.
Everybody wants the Golden Paradise, which I don't think, I've talked about this on the podcast a number of times, I don't think it should be tropical, I think it should be in the mountains.

What if she got thrown into paradise?
I think guys would be- Nuts.Into her.
But then that leads down a whole new conversation of, you know, if there is like a 30-year gap.

Yeah, but what if you throw golden contestants to just see what happens?

I'm not saying that they're not gonna find her attractive, but there's no way that that mix-up is gonna happen.
See, what hurts the show is not so much a guy dating a golden bachelorette contestant.It's a girl dating a golden bachelor contestant, because that is weird.
Jared, that is not gonna happen, but there is plenty shipping going around.

It doesn't even feel like, you know how sometimes when they go into the final two, it's like, it's clear that the Bachelorette has a strong connection, more of a connection with one contestant, but there's more red flags with that contestant compared to the second one.
So it's like, do you go with the safe option and someone that you know, you'll choose?
The chart does not have red flags.You're making the competition thing too big of a deal.
No, no, no, no, it's not about competition.It's about the like, as audience members, I feel like a lot of times it's
Like, they make it seem, whether it actually is happening on set like that or not, like the lead, the person that is clearly the choosing- They try to like give them a backseat during the finale episode.
Not even backseat, but they try, like they try to make it seem like there's something hindering this relationship.Which is why, does she go with the safe choice with number two and someone that she knows that will be there?
Or does she go after her heart and then see if the
Yeah, I understand what you're saying.That is typical.This season isn't typical, though, with her absolute lack of luster with.
But that's my point, is that Guy's not even the safe choice.Like, it feels like Chalk is more of a safe choice and she has more of a connection with him and they're more in love with each other.
Like, is she just going to dump Guy now?Yeah, I think that at the beginning of the episode and then be like, OK, family, you can just meet Chalk and.
Honestly, for a golden season, I think audience members would love to watch that.
We're totally fine with that.
You know, just to see like, okay, let's get Gaia the way.We want to see Joan fall in love.She's in love with Chalk.And let's have the final hour of the episode just be, you know, about these two coming together and starting a new life.
I really want to know how much the producers are pushing the whole like, I feel guilty about John.I feel guilty about John thing, because maybe she's out there being like, I have such strong feelings for Chuck.
And then in the room, you know, the idea room, they're like, but how do you think about how John?Yeah, but I also I mean, yes, the producers are looking down on you saying this.
I mean, the producers could easily be doing that, but also at the same time, I don't think you're giving enough
I don't think you have enough gravity to like, OK, let me.
Jared, I just told you I don't even think she should be like, well, let me ask.I only think she's ready.

But so that's my point is that.
It's just like just looking for fun companion.
That's what I mean.So like I don't I don't think there's anything wrong with her moving on with her life in a relationship with shock while also still holding on to feelings for her late husband.
I I don't think her feelings of guilt is a an example of her not being ready.
OK.OK.That's my thumbs it up right there with that statement.
That's just my feelings. And also, just for her own, how long has her husband been passed away?
No.That's why I'm like, are we sure here?
Well, also, it hasn't been that long in the grand scheme of things.
Three years after 40 years does not feel like a long time.
But also three years is a long time.
Jared, I was pregnant with Dawson three years ago.
Think how long though that felt.
I don't think so.That's our difference.
Actually, we've had a three-year-old.We've moved twice.We've had a new baby.
Three years is a long time to do things.So my point in saying that is at some point Joan, and she should, and I hope she feels okay with this, should move on with her life.

I'm sure John, if he was able to speak to Joan, would want her to move on, you know, and try to be as happy as possible.
