That was also very sad.My little koala tea steeping thing got in the way a little bit.
Surprise of all surprises, we're actually both drinking tea today.
Woohoo!And Jen made her own.
I did.Is this our tea steeping or what?I don't know. And it's actually kind of hot outside today too.Yeah, it's a little toastier.Oh yeah, I forgot that was still on fire.
air not be so loud in our microphone.I found my tea because my sister-in-law had given me this loose leaf tea forever ago and I was drinking it all the time and then I put it in my lunchbox to take to work.
100% forgot about it until I cleaned out my lunchbox yesterday embarrassingly and I was like oh my gosh I forgot about this tea it was so good so here I am drinking it again. What's the tea? It's a banana nut muffin tea. It's really good.
So I was just thinking, that's not that long ago, because I gave you a tea at the same time.Oh, well, it was March.
I was thinking it was over the summer, so.
No, because that's the trip, because we were on that same trip with your sister-in-law.
Yeah, I forgot about that.
Yeah. It was March. It's fine.Anyways, but we're here.As you can see, I'm drinking Dragon Spice.I can't remember the order of these words. The Spiced Red Dragon Chai.Something like that.I'm about to sneeze.
Oh no.Do we need to pause it?
I talked about it, so now the urge is going away.Anyways.But this is one of my favorite chais and I only have one tea bag left now, so.Oh no, it's back. Do I need to pause it?I'm gonna set it down for the moment. It's gone again.
It's probably gonna come back at the most inconvenient time, so.Okay.We can continue. We're talking about When Joss E. Whistles episodes 104 to... 4, 5, 6, 7.We're getting so close to the end.Yeah, I double-checked just to make sure.
This is our October episode, which funnily enough our was Jossie, so it's a spell for Smith today that's uploaded. So we're like only about a month off from what we're recording.I'm so excited to see that reel by the way.
Ever since you told me... I gotta actually put it together.Every time when you told me what song you were gonna use, I listened to that song on repeat the rest of the entire day yesterday.I was like, can't stop thinking about it.
It's a good song.It's a really sweet song.It is.And for, they're a band that normally does more angsty
uh yelling f-bombs yeah not in this song but this one is like would you walk this world with me so cute but we're talking about like i said episodes 104 to 107
We're approaching the end, so we'll have four more episodes to cover in November, and then December will be the final three episodes, and if we want to talk about anything in the Q&A, which I don't feel like we'll, because I feel like we talked about in general.
Um, although in her Q&A, Sibylis did mention at the end, thank you for all the people that promoted and talked about our comic, our shared things on your socials and in your podcasts. And I was like, so I know she's seen our stuff.
I don't know if she's ever listened.Um, she's liked most of our reels.
Um, I think she's pretty covered up and like trying to prep for her next, her next work.Totally valid. But she it's, I was like, Oh, I don't know if she's ever listened, but if she does listen, It's been an awesome comic, yeah.We love it.
I am very sad that it's ended.Yeah.So... I'm excited to read the ending.Yeah, oh yeah, you haven't read it.
No.Because I always save the finales for the... So... Should I read the finale live?I don't know, we record at work.
No, I feel like you really don't need to for this one.
I live-reacted a bit in my notes.
Yeah, you do.I feel like you don't need to for this one because the one that's gonna be most shocking is the... what happens after this final episode of this grouping because of course it's like a bit vague.
It was left on a bit of a cliffhanger as to what exactly happened.Yeah.Um, and so you really see what happens at the beginning of the next episode and that's one of the one that's a little more jaw dropping.Okay.
Because after that, there's more fluff and resolution and figuring out things and stuff.I like fluff and resolution.Yes, there's been good fluff in this comic, but... Yay!Man, these poor characters have been through the wringer.
They have.Still a sad little clink.
Alright, so we're going to talk about episode 104.I am actually talking about the correct one instead of... An incorrect one, like with my Durkel what a king last week. It's fine.
Anyways, Tau shows up and holds Karana, asking her if she has finally mustered up the courage to kill him.No being around the bush.Karana doesn't immediately respond, and Tau kisses her.Karana freezes before she relaxes and kisses Tau back.
Tau then steps away from Karana and faces Hila, who was wishing she'd had more time so that Mita could have convinced Karana to kill Tau.She wonders how they are going to be able to kill Tau when Hila hears Jossie and her mind
He tells her to fly up, like, through their thought-talking.Yeah.It's like, I did not phrase that sentence well. It's fine.Hila uses Jossie's power to flip... fly up on a disc, taking Koa with her, and Jossie grabs her into a hug.
Koa tells Hila that they should run, but Hila tells her that Koa can go to Rodri. She's staying here, and then Koa runs off.Jossie tells Tau, talks to Tau, and Tau thinks that if the moon's god's power is soon to be,
and thinks that the moon god's power is soon to be his and pushes Karana out of the way to get to Jossi.
Jossie and Tal fight, both delivering big hits, but Karana calls out for Jossie and it gives him a headache, implying that he is going against her wishes.
Jossie retreats next to Hela, but Karana walks up and calls him to her, telling him she missed him.His headache increases and he walks to Karana, unable to break from his curse.
Tal walks up next to them and tells Jossie it must be back to the usual, where he tries to fight Karana, but comes back crying.
Hila remembers the memory of Jossie wishing to be set free from his prison as a child and gets angry lashing out with Jossie's power and demanding they set him free.
Okay, so in the beginning of this one I was really confused because I thought it looked like both Koa and Hila's eyes had this gold tint and I was curious if some of Like, Karana's power was, like, influencing them?Because her power is gold.
Well, um, she only has Tao's power. Her eyes are just gold and that's indicative of the bloodline. So, Koaw's eyes are gold, the same that Rodri's eyes are gold.Hila's are just a slightly, they're like an off shade of a gold.
They're not, oh, they almost strike me as like a rose gold, because then they look more normal on the next, one of the following panels that you mentioned. And they've almost got like the rosy-ish color back.
I don't know, either way.
They're like, I would say they're a very light shade of brown. in comparison to the gold of Karana and Koa.Yeah, because Rodri also has the same color.
That's fair. Um, I was disappointed in Karana backing down from killing Tau, like, yet again.
And although it's what I expected, like, honestly, and Tau was expecting it too, like, he knew, I was just... Reading this as it came out on FastPass was torture.Oh, I bet.
I can't even imagine.Cause I was like, man, I have FastPass, but I still have to wait another week.I still have a cliffhanger.
Yeah.Um... And did we know that the Moon God's power went to Hela and not Jossie?
So it went to Jossie.I think what she's explaining is that she asked the Moon God to give his power to Jossie because he was just gonna die and take his power with him.He ended up gifting it to Jossie because Hela's only using Jossie's power.
Jossie's wielding the Moon God's power.Okay.
It's all blue.Yeah, I think that's what kind of confused me the most is that the color was the same.Yeah.The reuniting of Hila and Jossie was so precious.Mm-hmm.Oh, man.His immediate, you're safe.
Yeah.And she said, you're here.
Totally opposite from Tal and Karan's reunion.Totally.
Yeah. And then when Jossie called Tao a creepster, that was hilarious.I was like, Jossie's been hanging out with Luis on too much.Yeah, and I'm glad that it seemed like there was some forgiveness slash acceptance going on between
Koa and Hila, before Koa leaves, I started laughing because my phone has apparently been auto-correcting Koa to Joe.And I didn't even realize it until reading back right now, and I was like, oh.
I put a note a little later, it said, I can't stop laughing at these Joe typos.
Yeah, I didn't even realize it.I thought I was past this when I switched to an Android, but no, apparently my phones just hate me.Google's just relearning your typing. Oh, apparently they need to relearn better.
And then, so the scenes between Jossie and Tal when they're fighting and it's just, they're so powerful and dynamic and tension-filled.Like, the artistry was phenomenal in this.Oh yeah, Stimulus really has outdone herself in this whole grouping.
Because all of these are pretty action-packed episodes and she's just outdone herself.
Yeah. Um, it's hard to decide which one of Jossie's parents I hate more sometimes. They're just both so bad.Amen.Yes.
Yes.And all that Hila rage at the end.Ooh, I was freaking out.It was good.Yes, it was.
Oh, no.And she gets mad, but her eyes are blue, so you know she's in sync with Jossie, so you know he's that mad.At that point, he just can't show it.
Yeah. The downside of now my belly being big enough is that it's much harder to lean forward to get my mug that's on the dash of your car.Episode 105.
Tau easily cracks the disc that Hila threw, and Karana immediately asks Tau not to kill Hila because she was nice to her.Tau asks if Karana really needs another toy.
Karana turns to Jossie and tells him it's time to go, and Hela speaks up to tell Karana that Tau is going to kill Jossie.
Karana is surprised, but Tau tries to turn it around, telling her that he can take her back to when she was happy, no death, no birth, just when they first met, and all they have to do is kill Jossie.
Hela laughs and says that they will never be happy, because Tau only sees Karana as a tool to manipulate.
Tao continues to try and manipulate Karana, asking if he should feel sorry for killing the people that hurt her, punishing them when she asks that they be punished. He then asks why she changed her mind, and that she strayed far from him on her own.
Tao is clearly agitated and feels that he is losing control of Karana as his power continues to roll off of him, and his eyes are wide as he tries to convince Karana.
Karana tells him that she doesn't belong there, she's just a human, and Tao responds that they are gods, but Karana responds with monsters.
Karana's use of the word breaks the last of Tao's restraint, and he says that he doesn't need to wait for permission if he's already a monster, and Karana will forget all of this anyways.
Karana sees Tao's power forming into a deadly strike against Jossie, and she screams, don't hurt Jossie, before pinning Tao with his own power through his shoulder.
He tells her that she is beautiful when she uses his power, like a true goddess, and Hela runs for Jossi.
Jossi speaks to Hela in her mind, telling her to run past him and keep a safe difference when the bird god and Rodri show up with power for Jossi to wield.
Jossi brings down a massive amount of the moon god's power that looks like the size of a sun, straight down onto Tau.When the smoke clears, Tau is charred and his power is hovering over him.Karana is stunned.
and Jossie tells her that his power is not enough alone.Karana will have to finish it. Yeah.Tau cracked that disc so easily, I really thought that all of her rage and all that power would do more to him.
Yeah, but it just shows, because of how much of the Moon God's power has been used, and how much he's collected already, just how powerful he is.And it makes sense for her questioning, what can we even do?
And then he used the word toy in reference to Hela, and it really shows how he views anything that Karana loves.Yeah. Bless you. There we go, finally. You have such delicate sneezes compared to me.Depends on how surprised I am by the sneeze.
That's fair. The more surprised, the more awful it is.My husband complains that my sneezes are so loud they give him headaches.
I have told my husband that I love him and he is great, but if I had to pick one thing to change about him, it would be how he sneezes. That would probably be my husband's exact comment about me too.
Um, the look on Tau's face that basically says that Hela needs to shut up whenever Hela's, like, trying to expose all this stuff to Karana.
Because I guess Karana didn't realize that Tau would just kill Jossie, and she's just so blind and naive, and... I think she was so far into denial.
Yeah.Like, that's a powerful thing.Yeah.But I think it's also sho- like, I do agree.I think it's shocking that she wouldn't have come to some sort of similar conclusion.
Yeah, seeing how much Tau had hurt Jossie and physically tortured him before. She's like, he's fine. He's still mine. And I really don't believe Tau whenever he says that wanting Karana to be happy is the only reason why he wants to control time.
I think that's just his convenient reason in the moment, which sucks even more.
I think it's because he's power-hungry and he's found someone easy to manipulate that was also power-hungry.Although, I think that is the main mistake he made.
He should have found someone else who was a villain in their own right, not just someone who is easy to manipulate and wanted power because she wanted freedom. She didn't want power for the sake of power, which is why Tao wanted it.
I agree with that. And his inferiority complex.Yes.Um... Compensating for something?I don't know.He has a lot of kids, so... That doesn't mean it's good!I guess, yeah, she doesn't know any better.Anyways!Tau isn't wrong that Piranha changed her mind.
I think he's just lost sight of the fact that humans actually do that. And humans hover in this gray area of growth and learning and...
being able to change their minds and change who they are, they're not just kind of stuck in this like, I am the god of XYZ, this is all I do.
I really like that you brought that up, and I feel like it goes hand in hand with he's shocked because he's so narcissistic. that she could change what she thought to be different from him.
And I also think it could be why they can't hear each other in their minds anymore.
Because once she was able to come back to herself a bit after this whole first iteration of Tal destroying everything happened, I think she realized that it wasn't what she wanted and that's why it's been a long time before she's actually been able to
hear him.I like that thought process because I didn't even like take into consideration that they haven't heard each other in each other's minds for a while.
She's more, Jossie's gone to being, seeing more of the human side of things and Tal's never done that.
And so where Jossie and Hila have been able to stay in connection, Tal's like, no, I'm a god.And Karana's like, but I'm not.Yeah.So this is like a very real disconnect.
And then we really see the moment that Tao truly snaps and he accepts his monsterhood status from Karana, but he 100% crossed Karana's only line whenever he threatens Jossie.
And that's, I think we were talking about this before we started recording, but I think it makes him a true villain. There's none of the gray area stuff. He's just a legit bad guy.Because this gets into implications of other things.
that are like, not magic related, but real world men asserting their power and disregarding what anyone else has to say about them using force to get what they want.
That's a good point.And Tao has a new kink.Shudder.
Yeah, the, um... You look like a goddess when you use my, like... As she's stabbing him.
Yeah. I also didn't expect Tao dying or being severely injured to impact Jossie like it did.Like it seemed- I thought Jossie's curse or part of it was that he could only hurt, like, if he hurt his brothers it would be reflected back on him.
I didn't think that applied to Tao as well.
So I was trying to figure out kind of what you meant with this comment.Yeah.Because I wasn't sure what you meant by impact because he didn't seem any emotionally different.Physically.
It seemed like he was cracking whenever he injured Tal and he was like coughing up blood whenever Tal was severely injured.
I think it's because of the amount of power.Because you remember the bird god did say we can barely manage just holding it.Will he even be able to wield it?So I think it's because he's a demigod wielding a god's power. So I think that's part of it.
And the moon god's power is healing him. but using the excess is also damaging at the same time.
That makes more sense.I thought it was like an extension of his he can't hurt his brothers and so it's like oh so he can't hurt Tao either and I was very confused.
Mug. It's a little lower so we can clink a little louder.Episode 106.Hoppo and company are trying to stop as much of Tau's energy from leaving his core as possible, but there's too much and they are unable to stop a lot of it.
The bird god flies over to Jossie and tells him that the energy is returning too quickly for them to stop enough and they need to hurry.
Jossie begs Karana to end Tao now while she can before he rejuvenates enough, using a shield of his to block Tao's energy from getting to him as a last resort.
In the middle of Karana trying to make a decision, Tau stands and shoots power at Jossie, hitting him in the chest.Hela screams and runs to Jossie, and without the shield, Tau's power returns to him in full force.
He uses his power to reach and rip off the bird God's Wings mid-flight, and blasts Koa back when she tries to stop him.
Tau tells Karana that if she had just accepted that she couldn't live without him, he wouldn't have had to do all this, and Karana is still shocked in place, repeating that this was all for her, but sounding like a question.
Tau realizes that the Puppy God, I write all these names out, but I'm too self-conscious to pronounce them.
Tau realizes that the Puppy God is stopping the return of his energy and prepares to kill all his sons when Hila yells at Kirana again to protect her sons.Kirana snaps out of her fog and aims Tau's power at him, telling him that he cannot kill them.
Tau tells her it is her sons or him and she can't meet his eyes.He continues on past her without resistance.
Hela throws a last-ditch effort and slings discs of power at Tau, but it does nothing to stop him, and she thinks how she has regretted living her life in the past and wishing to die, when now she finally wants to live.
At that moment, rain starts and dulls Tau's power, and he looks to see Karana dazed with Mita holding her.
So, I was so curious how they were killing slash capturing the little, like, creepy light things that are going back to Tao.Let's just call it what you said in the notes. They look like little sperm things.I was like, the creepy little sperm things.
I've noticed that when Tao feels like he's more in control, you don't see signs of his power, but when he feels less in control, or like, what he's wanting is not going his way,
It seems like his it's like it starts rolling off of him like it's just he can't help but release some of that energy Yeah, some of it too could be that he's taking in a lot of the energy from From the moon gods power yeah, and so that it's now like he's not got
a vessel that can properly contain all of it because he's still in a human body.I'm also like, snapping, squashing, zapping, I don't know.I should have developed some sort of condom.
Sounds like you needed one anyways.Anyways.Okay, so. Jossie's Moonshield.Okay, so then I had the realization that Jossie's Moonshield was blocking the energy from getting to Tao, and that started to make a lot more sense.
I don't think I got this at the first point.I don't think I fully grasped that that's why it didn't all come back to him immediately, is because they had the one last-ditch effort to prevent it from reaching him.
Yeah. And then whenever Jossie said to Karana, all we long for is a caring mother.I was like, oh, just like way to hit me in the feels.Yeah, and I was so hoping that that would finally start to resonate with Karana.
I think coupled with Hila like yelling at her the last time, protect your sons.I think it started to break something in her.Yeah.I think this whole situation has been like breaking down the last of her sanity slash resistance.
And then I started freaking out because this is not where I expected this to go, where the tides were turning towards Tao.And I was like, the tides are not in our favor, although I know they have to end up this way eventually, like, ah!
The way she gives in to Tao is really disheartening, but I feel like it's really realistic, especially for someone that has been trapped in an abusive relationship.
You feel so stuck by this person, and even when you start to reclaim some of yourself back, it's still so hard to face that one person.
Yeah, I'm glad that she didn't just do this magical 180.Oh, yeah.Like, super fast.Because you're right, it's not realistic. But in my head at the same time, I wanted to be like, Stop it, Karana!
She's not shown the character development in previous episodes for that to be like, yes, this would happen.
And that's something that we've loved about this one is that the long-term character development. And that's, it's such a strength of Seedless'.And then I was so excited to see Mido with Karana and then seeing that the rain had started.
Oh, I was so excited to hear about how that all went down.Oh, yeah.I was.Mido!
Episode 107.Karana's thoughts spiral as Tao walks past her, and she thinks how she can't kill him, but she doesn't want him to kill either. She realizes she has a cut on her foot that came from Tao's power when she stabbed him.
Koa crawls over to Karana, begging her to save their sons, and Karana is hit with a flashback to when her stepmother begged her to save her son the first time Tau caused destruction around her.
She covers her ears, but still hears the murmurs of the dead from her old tribe and sees her father and others standing with blood spatter around her.She panics, asking why she has to decide the fate of others around her again.
Mita calls her name and reaches for her and Karana is surprised he is alive but Mita tells her he is only alive if she fights for him and tells her that this is her last chance to change everything. It scrolled too far.I was like, what?
Mita continues to encourage Karana and as she gives in, her eyes lose their focus and she causes it to start raining.Karana stands and asks Tao why he has always tested the limits of her affection and why he gave her the power to kill him.
And Tao responds that he wanted to know if her love exceeded her hate for him, but he was never confused about his feelings for her.
Hela covers Jossie's body with her own and begs Tau to not kill him, but Tau says that he will make her death painless.Jossie sits up from behind Hela and sends his power Tau's way, demanding that he stay away from Hela.
Tau is glad that Jossie appears to have given up and is using the moon god's power excessively, but Jossie tells him he's only had one objective and cues Rodri, but Rodri says he can't make Hela go through that again.
Jossie said that if Roger won't sacrifice himself, he'll do it, because if he can't live with Hela, then at least Hela will finally get to live, since she has finally decided that she wants to.
Karana watches as Tau absorbs all the power Jossie has released, and she thinks back to how she felt the first time she ran towards Tau, and how free she felt is the same as she feels now.
Tau looks shocked, and in a close-up, there seems to be blood coming from his mouth. But the end of the episode is unclear as to what Karana truly did.
It's hard to figure out how to wrap that up because a lot of it's those flashbacks back from previous to current. So it's like, how do you wrap that up?Especially because it was so vague at the end.
When this came out, when I read it for the first time, I was like, I was shocked and like, but what does this mean?Yeah. What does it mean? It's like that, um, Uh, what's her face?Jennifer Lawrence. The meme of her. What do you mean? What do you mean?
What do you mean? It's when she was on the Hot Ones, probably. She was on the Hot Ones episode, and it was like one of the hotter chicken wings. And she was, they were like, well this is, I guess they were explaining something.
And she was like, what do you mean?Cause she was like sobbing at how spicy some of them were. She's like, have you had anyone react like this?
Anyways.I might be crying too.The panels depicting Karana's despair were so well done.
I feel like her despair really mirrors Hila's.Very well from the first season. But she's never had relief from it.Whereas Hila has found relief and found people that really care.
Because Kirana, if she had had even an Abuelita figure, she might have been able to figure out how to get herself out of this. But then also, that was one of the things in the Q&A that Sybilis mentioned, that Tao and
Piranha were like a cautionary tale slash mirror type thing for Jossie and Hila, that if Jossie hadn't changed some of what he had done in his understanding, he would have ended up more like Tau.It makes sense.
I feel like we've talked about that, so it's nice to hear the confirmation. Koa trying to play on Karana's maternal instincts, or she's trying to, but it's really like Karana only has the very bare bones of maternal instincts at all.
And then she goes just right back into denial where like, nothing is her fault and it's fine. I think it's her mind trying to protect what's left of her sanity.Okay, I will accept that, but I'm still annoyed.
Oh yeah, it's still annoying as all get out, but I think that's what, cause there's sometimes where like your mind, it's like it shuts down to protect itself. And I think this is one of those times.Okay.
I will, I will accept this.Um, and I think kind of going along with that, that, The consequences of her actions and just the reality of what's going on is really finally starting to catch up with her.
And I love seeing Mita make the difference, like that being the voice that really got through to her.
Yeah.Goofy little Mita really came in clutch.
I know from the very beginning we're like, what's the point of Mita? He's just comic relief.
And it was all leading up to this moment where like, comic relief has a place.
Comic relief is saving the day here. And she's, Karan is right that when she says that her and Tao are both just completely unstable. And I'm glad that Hila finally sees how much she wants to live. and what's actually worth living for, finally.
These things always happen when it appears like there's no going back.
I think Hirana is witnessing all this self-sacrificial love between Rodri and Jossie and Hila and the bird god and has finally had to make a decision and I think in this kind of final panel that she's gonna try and trick Tau somehow and kill him.
See, I don't think it even was a trick because I think that's why he looks so shocked in the full panel of watching her run to him.Like when you look at that panel his eyes are still like wide but instead of like like crazy eyes of
Like, I'm gonna murder everybody. It's like the shock of wide eyes.Cause he's not seen her smile like that in years.Or seen her run full tilt towards him.
I don't see, I mean, maybe, maybe it comes across as a trick, but I don't think she's intending it as a trick.I think she's come to a conclusion and she's like, this is the only way forward. And now that I've made a decision, I'm free.
And that's like that relief of like the burden lifting from her.Cause I don't, I don't think she's got the mental stability to trick.
to trick anything that's fair but like I think it comes across that way yeah but yeah I don't I don't think in terms of her motivation her motivation there we go that's fair clink oh yeah clink excuse me um
Thank you for joining us this week on RT is Steeping as we talked about when Jossie whistles.Like we said, we'll only have two more episodes of it.Yeah, which is so crazy.
We've been talking about this one since we started. So two and a half years of talk.Nope. Two and a half because we're not fully through season three.
That's crazy. It's been phenomenal though.I'm very excited.I, I was a hard sell in the beginning, but I'm completely won over now.So yay.
It's one of those that if you could have binged it from the get go, I think he would have appreciated it.That's true.Yeah.I was very like confined to only reading a certain number once a month too.So yeah.Yeah.
I mean that's, it was all my choice too, but it's fine.
I won't fault you if you read to the end.Go ahead and do it.
We'll see.My thing is that I won't remember it then by the time we talk about it, especially with baby brain, that like I need to have enough like remembrance to talk about it.Remembrance.Yeah.
So thanks for joining us this week, and we hope you join us next week for... A spell for a Smith!
I love that one so much.I do too.And it's getting to the time of year where it's like... Yes!
That's what I was gonna say.Cozy.Cozy fall.Snuggle up with the blankie and a cute reed.Love it.Yes.Bye!Bye guys!
