Der Fluch des Vergessenen Reiches In den tiefen Wäldern des unzugänglichen Königreichs Salatil verbarg sich eine Stadt, die seit Jahrhunderten niemand mehr betreten hatte. The inhabitants once called it Nocturna, the city of eternal shadows.
Once a blossoming metropolis, whose towers seemed to penetrate the clouds and whose streets were filled with trade and life, it was now nothing more than a memory, shrouded in the fog of oblivion.
The forest had almost completely swallowed the city, and only rarely did a wanderer dare to enter these dreaded fields. On a foggy autumn evening, however, a group of adventurers decided to reveal the secret of Nocturna.
Their leader was Kaldor, a battle-tested mercenary with a mysterious past. Accompanied he was by Illyana, a sharp-tongued magician who sought lost spells, and Haron, a snarled thief with a predilection for hidden treasures.
They all had heard stories of immeasurable towers of wealth and dark powers, lurking deep in the ruins.Despite the warnings of the old, they ventured into the dense forest. Soon, the darkness struck mercilessly.
The path in front of them was barely visible, and the whispering of the trees seemed to swell to an ominous choir.Kaldor, who had already survived many dangers, felt a strange tingling in his chest. It was not only the cold that penetrated his bones.
Stay alert, he murmured, as they advanced deeper into the shadows.Something is watching us.The group came across an old bridge, whose stone arches in the light of their torches shone.
On the other side, barely visible through the dense fog, lay the city of Nocturna. Its silhouette rose dangerously against the starless sky. There is no way back, said Ilyana. Her voice trembled with anticipation and fear.Let us go on.
As they crossed the bridge, they felt as if an invisible force seized them. The fog thickened and the darkness became almost tangible. They seemed to lose track of time as they wandered through the abandoned streets.
Fallen houses with broken windows rose up ghostly around them.Everywhere were traces of a past life, a broken doll, a rusted dagger, and yet no human soul was to be seen.Tharon, who knew best in cities, led them through the labyrinth of the streets.
He first noticed the shadows moving in a strange way, as if they were alive. That's not normal, he whispered and drew his dagger. But it was too late.A shadow detached itself from the wall and formed a creature, half made of mist, half made of flesh.
Her eyes shone in an unnatural blue.Illyana picked up her staff and spoke ancient words. A bright light shone and drove the creature away for a moment.Run, she shouted. The group stormed off, chased by the shadows, which became more and more numerous.
They fled to an old cathedral, whose doors were made of heavy oak wood. They closed the door just in time, as the shadows against the walls burst. In the cathedral, time seemed to have stopped.
A huge mosaic on the ceiling showed a fallen angel surrounded by flames.Kaldor looked at it with serious expression.I know this story, he said quietly. The angel fell from the sky because he wanted to control the power of the shadows.
He was burned and the city cursed with him. While they were looking around, Taron discovered a hidden trapdoor. Maybe this is the way out," he said and carefully opened it.A dark staircase led into the depths.Or deeper into madness, Illyana muttered.
But she had no choice. The shadows would not wait long. The staircase led into a labyrinth of catacombs, in which the smell of decay and death was omnipresent.
The walls were covered with ancient symbols, and every now and then a blue flame flickered on the walls.Kaldor took a step forward, determined to find an answer to Nocturna's mystery.
But the deeper they went, the stronger the feeling of being observed became. Suddenly there was a scream through the darkness. It was not a manly scream, but a deep, hoarse scream that made the walls tremble.
We have to hurry, said Kaldor with a grim face. They continued to hurry and finally found themselves in a large chamber again. In the middle stood a black obelisk, surrounded by a circle of blue flames.
Iliana sensed the power emanating from the obelisk. It is the heart of darkness, she whispered. If we could destroy it, we could break the curse. But before she could do anything, a figure rose from the shadows.A man, or whatever was left of him.
His skin was gray and his face was made of scars. You dare to enter my kingdom. His voice was an echo that echoed in the heads of the adventurers.Kaldor drew his sword. We are only looking for the freedom to leave Nocturna, he said.
The Shadow King laughed. There is no freedom from the shadows, only eternal service. He raised his hand and the blue flames ignited. The shadows began to gather around them. In that moment, Eliana remembered a ritual she had once read in an old book.
It was dangerous, but her only chance. She began to sing, a melody that was old and powerful. The shadows hesitated, and the king shouted angrily.Kaldor and Taron took the opportunity to reach the obelisk.
With a mighty blow of his sword, Caldor struck the obelisk, and a deafening bang followed. The obelisk broke into a thousand pieces, and the blue flame was extinguished. The shadows dissolved, and the king's form began to fade. No!
he shouted, before he finally dissolved into nothingness. The darkness vanished, and a radiant light filled the chamber. The adventurers sank exhausted to the ground.
The city of Nocturna began to crumble, its walls crumbled and its streets disappeared. But the fog cleared, and for the first time in centuries, the sun shone through the dense forest. They had broken the curse.
When they left the forest, it was Kaldor who looked back.We won, he said quietly, but there was a shadow in his eyes. Okay, as always, if you want to listen to the story again, do that now, otherwise I'm gonna start with question one.
