Therefore, take up the whole armor of God so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day and having done everything to stand firm. And now, Battle Ready with Father Dan Rehill.
Good day.Welcome to Battle Ready.Let's pray in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.Amen. Come Holy Spirit, come by means of the powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, thy well-beloved spouse.
Infuse into our hearts your gifts of wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and perfect deference to your perfect will, so that in all things we may bring glory to God our Father, through Christ our Lord.Amen.In the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.Amen.Okay.
So it's today, the world is celebrating Halloween, the devil's way, devil style.
But you need to know that this actually, since the 8th century, All Hallows Eve was, hallowed means holy, so All Holy Evening was holy because it's the vigil of All Saints Day.That's what the church initially wanted this to be.
It was hijacked by hell, and now it's a day where many people worship gore and death. And it's a sad state of our society. But that's where we are.So if you have any compunction to give glory to God, don't participate in Halloween.
Participate in the truth of what the day is, which is All Hallows Eve of All Saints Day.So watch a good movie about a saint. You can pull out some candy and some popcorn and celebrate that way. But tricking and treating, that's a pagan ritual.
That's not Catholic. And the pagans are worshiping false gods, which we know are demons. So just be careful, because this is a day when people, even children, can open themselves up to evil. And the demons love an open door. They walk right through.
And then it's not so easy to get rid of them.So be careful. Uh, we really need to take back this day. There's been enough of the stealing of all things good and holy and turning them into crap.So take it back.
Well, hello tide is what it used to be called. And it was the first day of three days, a triduum that includes all saints day and all souls day.Uh, and again, this goes all the way back to the eighth century with Pope Gregory the third.
when he dedicated the oratory at St.Peter's Basilica to the Holy Apostles and of all the saints, martyrs, and confessors, and of all the just made perfect who are at rest throughout the world.
So I know this is a big conflict for a lot of parents because they're torn between do we participate in this or not?I even had a couple of families at my last parish that left the school because we didn't trick or treat in the school.
I said, you know, you can go home and do that. That's your business, but we're not.The policy of the school was we would celebrate all things Catholic.Halloween isn't Catholic. The commercial Halloween is not Catholic.
You know, similarly, don't get me started about Christmas, because one year when I was up in Boston, this is, you know, a long time ago, this is almost, you know, it's more than 20 years.Yeah.It's more than 20 years now. I was after 9-11.
So 2002, the priest I was living with was invited to judge a best Christmas decorating contest for the neighborhood. He was all excited. And I didn't go with him because I don't know what I was doing. But he came in about two hours later.
They would drive through the neighborhood and look at all the decorations. And he walked in the door and he says, how was it?And he goes, I wish I had a shotgun. to blow up all the Frosty the Snowman and Reindeer. This has nothing to do with Christmas.
It was very difficult to find one manger scene. And that really bothered him.So what has happened is that the commercial has replaced the original and the authentic, what is Christmas? It's all about Jesus.
And it has been replaced by Santa and his reindeer and all his merry idiots. And think about it, what must heaven think when we're not even mentioning his name on his birthday? It's all about all this other stuff.
So I'll save that for when we get closer. But we get to choose who we're going to worship. And don't think God isn't watching.Don't think he's not watching. He watches everything. And he's merciful, but our choices have consequences.
And, uh, God forbid those consequences come into play this coming Tuesday on election day, you know, because much of this country has abandoned God and picked up pagan rituals and pagan ideologies and, uh, all the isms.
And that's not going to go well if, if, if that's, what's going to run our country. So we'll see. But, uh, You know, we need to have a re sanctifying of our society because it's become all secular in so many ways. And then that's not a good thing.
Uh, let me read you from the catechism of the Catholic church. It says, this is our beliefs as Catholics.
We also want to intentionally avoid those things that are contrary to our Catholic faith, but have become popularized through the secular adaptation of Halloween.
Turning to the catechism of the Catholic church, we want to refrain from glamorizing or celebrating anything involving superstition, which is witchcraft, sorcery, divinations, magic, and the occult.
We want to be good models of Christian virtue for those we serve and make clear distinctions between that which is good and that which is evil. So, you know, we're the biggest complaint I get from people is, Oh father, we're just having fun.Okay.
You know, that's like, I buy Playboy to read the articles.Give me a break.
You might think you're having fun, but when you dress up as witches and warlocks and Dracula and decorate your house with all sorts of blood and gore, you're paying homage to hell.
So, you know, you just can't, you can't put your foot in both kingdom, as the good book says. What else can I talk?Well, let me tell you, I started to talk about
Yesterday the the loose Luce or Lucy Logo brands icon Mascot for the Jubilee Year and well it gets worse Because the actual logo for the Jubilee Year is this very funny looking thing I'm just gonna pull it up.Hold on Jubilee.I
Uh, you can find it too. It's kind of, it's a weird looking thing. All right. So again, there's no use of actual good artwork. It's all like, uh, clip art.
It's, it looks like, uh, I don't know, a 10 year old could have made this, um, Jubilee 2025 pilgrims of hope.So it's got a cross that's bent.I don't know what that's about. And the bottom of the cross has an anchor.Okay.And they have four.
Figurines that look like people I suppose they're people a green a blue a yellow and a red so there's the You know the famous LGBT rainbow For all to see I don't know if they were thinking about that when they made this why why do we have to do rainbow?
I'm sure it's not new covenant.Love.I'm sure that wasn't the direction they were going and the oddity of it is they're all like coming in behind each other and hugging each other from behind and It's not natural.Human men don't do that.
We don't line up behind each other and hug each other in some kind of chain of bizarreness. It's just bizarre. The whole thing is bizarre. You know, so we can do better.Church, church in Rome, we can do better.
You know, my bishop has the same good, better, best.We want to be best. This isn't even good. This is lousy. This is lousy, ugly and lousy. And it reeks of the gay mantra.
So if that's what we're putting out there for 25, I don't know who came up with this, but that's a stupid thing to do.Okay, back to the creator of this logo and this little icon creature who has blue hair and purple eyes.
Also very strange looking with her witch stick.I don't know why they put a witch stick in her hand, a divination stick. But this is what they've done.So I talked about it yesterday.
Guess what though it turns out This artist they chose to do this and who has been paid and has created these ugly things His name is Simon Legno. He's an Italian artist and he's popular for the Tokidoki brand Don't even bother looking it up.
It's ridiculous. The problem is he's also a worked with taking his Tokidoki brand and combined it with a sex toy company and made Tokidoki. So remember Tokidoki is kind of for kids and he's made sexual toys with the Tokidoki creatures.
But again, they're for kids and he's using them on sex toys. What on earth? This is ridiculous. This is insane and crazy. But that's not all. He's also a big LGBT proponent. He also has done artwork that is absolutely foul and festy.
One of the images that came up is a dragon mounting a naked woman from behind.I mean, this is the art he's producing. And this is who the Vatican chose to create their logo and their mascot. What on earth? This took a 10 minute Google search.
Are you telling me the Vatican has not vetted this guy?No, of course they did.You can't tell me that people with that level of intellectual prowess did not think to research what this guy does before they hired him.Are you joking?
So this is the state of the world and the church now is looking much more worldly than churchy, you know? with these horrible creations that are going to go out for the next year. Not in this parish they are.
We won't be putting up anything resembling any of these things.Terrible.What else is going on?Is there anything good happening in the world?Always, always and everywhere.
So I have to tell you, I had an interesting, uh, I'm getting a lot of emails because the Sean Ryan video I made with him is blowing up and it's getting millions of views on the snippets and the main domain. It's almost three hours long.
It's already have more than three quarters of a million people that watched it in just a day and a half.So a lot of people somehow, my emails out there for the parish website, I'm getting a ton of emails and I'm trying to respond.
to as many as I can, but it's simply, I can't respond to hundreds a day. It's impossible. But there's a few, uh, that I have looked at and discerned that I should probably touch base with these people.
You know, some of them are soldiers who have PTSD and really are looking for a way back to the church and all sorts of, you know, really people seeking truth. So, I mean, how could I not help?So I'm trying, you know,
So I'm going to read you an email from a gentleman.I'm going to change his name because I don't want to publicly out him and I'll change his locations. So he goes, hello, father.I can imagine you receive hundreds or thousands of emails.
So I'm going to try to keep this short.I wanted to share an experience I had this morning while traveling from Florida to New York, our former home. It was a very early flight in which we woke up at 3am and we were in the air by 5.30.
I was traveling with my wife.My typical routine when I travel is to pop in my AirPods and listen to music and go to sleep. And after a few hours of sleep that night before, I was set to do that for this trip as well.
As we got to our seats, I pulled out my iPhone and headphones, but for some reason I couldn't explain until now, I decided to search a podcast instead of listen to music. Yours with Sean Ryan was right there on the first page.
There was another Sean Ryan podcast. So to which I don't recall the subject now, which is odd because I was planning on listening to that one instead, but I needed to download the episode before the plane stores closed. So I had to make a choice.
Obviously I downloaded your podcast. After our first leg of our trip, we were heading to our next gate and the podcast was just at the part where you talked about what happened to Tim Tebow. This is my words now.
If you watch the Tim Tebow video with Tim telling the story, it is so good.My version pales in comparison. So I really want to get maybe one day put that up and listen to that. It's so good. All right, back to this gentleman.
I was amazed at the story and wanted to share it with my wife. That story is a clear sign of the miracles Jesus presents to us every day.Well, I love that story. The one my wife told me next brought me to tears. Even as I'm typing this.
Many years ago when our youngest daughter, Samantha, who was just five years old, came to my wife to tell her something.
You see, prior to this encounter with my daughter, my wife was struggling with an issue between her and God, an issue I didn't even know about.
At the time, my wife was studying and reading the Bible and she came to the place where it talks about giving everything up to the Lord. But she told God that she just couldn't give up her daughters to him.
She would give everything else, but those two beautiful souls were hers. She wrestled with this for a long time. And then our blessed five-year-old came into her mom's room crying one day.She said, mommy, I need to tell you something.
To which my wife said, OK, sweetie.I'm going to reject that call. And then she said, but mommy, you can't get mad, to which she assured her she wouldn't.
And then Samantha said, with tears running down her cheeks, mommy, I love you, but I love Jesus more.Boom.Perhaps it isn't as surprising to you as it is to me, but I feel that only God could have put that thought in my five-year-old's head.
I'm with you a hundred percent, but for that grace of God, you can, How can you explain a five-year-old saying that at the very time my wife needed to hear it?It was at that moment that my wife said, okay, Lord, you've got it.They are yours.
And she experienced a calm and a joy, which prior to that day, she struggled significantly with.I just wanted to tell you that story and say, thank you.I've always believed in God, but I've lost my way.My parents are devout Catholics and so is.
The youngest, so was I. I went to Catholic school, and even to seminary high school, and my parents even thought I would become a priest. And while I didn't become a priest, and after high school, I wound up joining the military.
And it goes on, and then he goes into other things. But actually, the end is profound, because he says, I'm going to get my life back on track.Pray for me to stay committed to the faith, and I'm going to start catching up on your podcasts.
As you become an inspiration to get me back to Jesus and God All right.
Well, this is one of like hundreds with very very different stories of people coming back I mean, I'm just amazed and I'm sure Sean that doesn't I haven't talked to him about this.
It's only been a couple days, but He's already working on the next podcast that's coming out.I know how the schedule is for him But of all the podcasts he's done he probably doesn't realize that this one is actually moving people back to God.
And his other ones are great.I'm not knocking them. But this one, you know, this one is having a profound effect on souls, not just on people's lives, but on their immortal soul, where they're reconciling with God and coming back.
And that is an amazing thing. And so I just have to thank Sean for being open to the opportunity to talk about these topics. And, um, and also cause his show is primarily, I would imagine listened to by men.
So it's actually hitting an audience that, you know, I don't actually get to hit that often because most of the people that listen to me are women. It's just the way it is.I'm not making up a reason.I don't know.
It's just the way men, I don't know, shorter attention span.I don't know. I can't put a finger on it, but that's the truth.
So, uh, just keep all these people in your prayers because as people make their way back to God, there's always an attack from the enemy to move them away from God again, because they don't, the demons do not like people establishing or reestablishing relationships with the Trinity.
They hate it. So we got to keep all these people in prayer.I've put them into my little prayer list every morning and all the people that are emailing and calling.
And every day I go before the blessed sacrament and I just commend them all over to Jesus's sacred heart and say, please keep these people in your heart and let them remain there until the day they meet you in person in heaven.
And I'm trusting he'll do it, you know, because this is what we have to be doing.
All right, so there's something brought to my attention this morning by one of my wonderful parishioners and it's from the book of, is it book of Jude or the letter of St.Jude?I'm not sure.
I'd have to look that up myself, but it's from, it's a very short, uh, I guess it is a book.Book of Jude. It's short. It's just about, you know, maybe one page. It's not even, not even that. But it's crazy what it talks about.
And I don't remember ever learning about this in seminary.I don't know why.Okay.So let me read you a little bit of it.
Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God's holy people.
For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ, who is our only sovereign Lord.
Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe.
And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority, but abandoned their proper dwelling, these he has kept in darkness bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great day.
In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. This is the part that's very interesting.
In the very same way, on the strength of their dreams, these ungodly people pollute their own bodies, reject authority, and heap abuse on celestial beings.
But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to condemn him for slander, but said, the Lord rebuke you.
Yet these people slander whatever they do not understand, and the very things they do understand by instinct, as irrational animals do, will destroy them. woe to them. They have taken the way of Cain. They have rushed for profit into Balaam's error.
They have been destroyed in Korah's rebellion. And then it just goes on a little bit more, and it's called to perseverance in the dark days that they were living.
But he's talking about a segment of the population that has given themselves over to the devil and his darkness. This is very relevant for us today, you could say.And he's saying
This little bit about disputing about the body of Moses, you know, what's happening is Michael refuses to slander the devil.Rather, he commends him over to be rebuked by God as that is God's proper place to take care of him.
So, um, it's, I've never seen it before. It's fascinating to me.I'm going to go deeper into it.Maybe I'll have more.Maybe my brother Brian can look into this. He's excellent at doing theology, uh, on the scriptures.
Because this is, to me, it seems like it's talking to our generation, you know, and it's, we're living it.So we'll see about that. And make sure you get to mass either tonight or tomorrow for the Solemnity of All Saints.
And thank the saints, you know, honor them.Feast days should be feast days. And I love a Friday feast day.I love it when a solemnity lands on Friday, that I can have a big old steak on a Friday, instead of fasting and abstaining from meat.
So do celebrate the saints. They are victorious. They've won the crown and they've gone before us.And we should be highlighting them and honoring them and, you know, teaching our children about them.Kids love to learn about the saints.
I've discovered that over the years, you know, if you can just Talk about the saint of the day in the morning, maybe for two minutes.Who is the saint today?
You tell them, give them the highlights of that person's life and what their, uh, what their particular, uh, what's the word?Uh, devotion is, or what is, what are they known for? What can we petition them about? You know, like losing things is, uh, St.
Anthony, um, impossible causes, Rita, uh, St.Jude, same thing.
So they all have a special charism, that's what I'm looking for, that we can pray to them about for help in a particular area because they were just like us and they they had temptations and they they fell and they got back up and they eventually made their way to heaven.
So that's what I'm looking for. That's what I'm looking for. Pick a saint for the day, and always pick a saint to guide you through your year.We do that at the end of the year.
And pick somebody tomorrow that you really want to get closer to, and then ask for their intercession in your life.
And don't be shocked when you find them doing great things on your behalf and moving you closer to the Lord, because that's what they do.And they love to do it.
They love to collaborate with the angels and with God to bring his family closer and back home. All right.May Almighty God bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.Amen.This is Father Dan signing out.
