Yes, over half the country has already voted.About 60 million people have already voted early, a sign that early voting is picking up popularity and steam.
It also will remain to be seen how people view the integrity of that process and the experience of that process. We probably won't get a full picture of that until after the election. But the big news is what used to be a Democrat franchise only
early voting.Republicans have much better competed this time around. The numbers are much closer.Democrats still voting more nationally early than Republicans, but the gap is closed, particularly in the battleground states.
And in a couple of battleground states, the gaps are actually favoring Republicans, something we haven't seen before ever in the history of early voting.
Just some thoughts to put in the top of your mind in this very important and consequential election. And of course, the election integrity issues keep coming.Lots of concerns as one day it's ballot boxes being lit on fire in the Northwest.
And we're going to talk about that today because one of the candidates in the district where that occurred in Washington State, Republican Joe Kennedy is running for House District 3, US House District 3 in Washington.
He's going to bring us an update. on that and the connections possibly to anti-Israel, pro-Palestine, or pro-Hamas protesters. That's an important piece of the puzzle. But we've been in the courts a lot, right?
Courts have been intervening on lots of different aspects. One of the big rulings this week came from the United States Supreme Court, which ruled that Virginia does have the right under its law to purge from its voter lists
the names of non-citizens, people who admit they were non-citizens.They didn't want to be registered. They actually checked the box, say, don't register me.And somehow, 1,500 of them got onto the Virginia election rolls.
Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares won that case.26 other states joined Attorney General Miyares in that.Governor Glenn Youngkin taking the hard line against the Justice Department, which wanted to keep illegal aliens on their voter rolls.
We're very lucky today, in the first block, the Virginia Attorney General himself, Jason Mowers, is going to join us.He not only won that case, he's been on the front lines of the ActBlue investigation.
You heard yesterday what Speaker Mike Johnson said. You've heard what Chairman Brian Stiles said. You've seen what Chairman James Comer has done. There is something brewing there. fully what it is yet.We would need to let the facts fall where they fall.
But Jason Meares is one of the earliest investigators as an estate attorney general to look into the Act Blue matter. He'll bring us up to speed on what he's seeing and what he's experiencing. That could be very big. All right.
So, the lineup today is going to start with the Virginia Attorney General Jason Myers.
We're going to end with Joe Kent, former Special Operator, Army Ranger who had an unbelievable brave career in the military, lost his wife who was a military woman in a bombing attack.
He's running in a slightly red district in Washington that Democrats currently control. There's a lot of optimism, particularly after Joe Kent's performance in the debate last week that Joe Kent may emerge
victorious and take back that once-red district, much like what we think Nick Begich may be doing up in Alaska and what some of the other competitive Republicans and closely-watched seats will be able to do.
Now, in between the Attorney General, General Mayares, and Joe Kent, we're going to dive into today's economic numbers. There was a devastatingly bad jobs report. In fact, the worst jobs report
really since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, it showed only 12,000 new jobs and it showed a very troubling, very troubling dynamic, which is that private sector jobs are declining and the only thing that's propping up any job creation in America right now are government jobs, taxpayer-funded jobs, the stuff that the Inflation Reduction Act, which a lot of people call the Inflation Augmentation Act,
and other big spending bills have done. They've created bureaucracy and government contractors, but the private sector is decelerating and there are two warning signs today.
One, government jobs went up, private sector jobs went down, but there was a 100,000 correction in the prior month's data.Once again, jobs that Joe Biden took credit for when they were announced actually didn't exist. They went down.
And I think after the selection, we're going to have to look into why the job estimations have been so rosy and wrong under the Joe Biden, Kamala Harris administration.
But to make sense of all this and it's very important picture, I want to bring in one of the great economists in the country. He's a former advisor to President Trump. He's a good friend, Steve Moore.
Steve Moore will be in the middle of today's show and he'll make sense of the job reports, which really have been statistical disasters the last couple of years under Joe Biden, lots of corrections.
And of course, this one, the markets were thinking there would be about 100,000 new jobs created, only 12,000.And if you took government jobs out, it was a large net loss in private sector jobs.
Private sector, of course, is what drives the economy normally.Steve Moore is going to make sense of that in the middle block. We got a great show for you today.I'm very proud of it and I think you'll enjoy all three of these really great guests.
Now, before we take a quick commercial break, I want to shout out one of our great sponsors here, the U.S.Oil and Gas Association.
They are the people that power America's – so much of America, whether it's our natural gas cars, our natural gas stoves and appliances, our natural gas Barbecues, I love to barbecue all year long on my back deck. So, I use natural gas all the time.
And then of course, they're powering so much of our utilities and by replacing coal, natural gas has become a powerful new climate gas reducing source in America. For some reason, Kamala Harris wants to get rid of it.
But there are a lot of Americans who realize we have no chance of getting rid of natural gas.In fact, we want to have it in the short term because it's plentiful, it's cheap,
It allows us to compete more cleanly with foreign powers who might want to sell us dirtier oil like Russia or Venezuela. So, that is an important thing.
Well, one of the ideas that pulls these points into a strategic plan was created by the US Oil and Gas Association. It has created what is called the Energy Contract with America.
It's kind of modeled after what Newt Gingrich, who we talked to earlier this week, did in 1994.Some simple points about policies that are the guardrails to create a better energy future for America. They have very specific ideas.End energy poverty.
Stop making utility bills and the gas tank fill up too expensive for people to afford. So, end energy poverty in America.Make energy accessible, affordable, clean, and reliable. Affordable, accessible, clean and reliable.Bring down the prices.
How do you do that?By producing more of everything. That's the third principle of this very simple but very cogent energy contract. And energy poverty.Make energy accessible, affordable, clean and reliable and produce more of everything.
Now, if you like that idea, you can go to energycontractamerica.com.Energycontractamerica.com.Read it and then go to your elected leaders and say, hey, I want you to get behind this.I want you to sign this.I want you to become a champion of this.
You can become a grassroots lobbyist for the next wave of energy significance and I think that's a really big deal. So, US Oil and Gas Association, go to www.energycontractamerica.com.Get educated.Share it with your friends and families.
Make it part of your political decision-making and also get your elected leaders to engage on this very important energy.
The Energy Contract with America is going to be a major focal point in the 2025 Congress and the 2025 administration, no matter who's president. All right. While you're doing that, we're going to take a quick commercial break, pay some bills.
We'll be right back with a great interview we've done with our good friend and longtime participant here, Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, right after these messages.

If you were reading just the news, in fact, it was one of the most popular stories of the month earlier this week.
The United States Supreme Court, at the request of the state of Virginia, ruled that yes, a state may lawfully take non-citizens who acknowledge that they're non-citizens off the voter rolls if they've gotten mistakenly placed on there.
Believe it or not, The Justice Department, the U.S.Justice Department tried to stop that common sense lawful action from occurring. The Supreme Court corrected that.
The man who drove that dialogue, who drove that major election integrity victory at the Supreme Court is joining us right now.The Attorney General of my home state, Jason Meares.Jason, good to have you on, sir.Great to be with you.
It's a great honor. This is a really historic win for election integrity. There are so many polls out there that show people are frustrated. They don't understand why the system is so loosey-goosey.
Getting it in the Supreme Court to validate that you can follow the law, pretty big moment, isn't it?
Well, yeah.I mean, that was the thing that was a little bit incredulous for me is we were getting a district court judge that had literally ordered Virginia to ignore their own law and to place over roughly 1,500
non-citizens, self-identified non-citizens, back on our voting rolls. And it really was this remarkable thing to see that 25 days before an election, the Department of Justice would choose this to be the issue that they would challenge us on.
And I often tell my team, the right leaders set the right priorities. But misplaced priorities or going after a law that had been on the books actually signed by Democratic Governor Tim Kaine back in 2006, to remove non-citizens off our voting rolls.
And that both Republicans and Democrats have enforced that law, it really was, I think, a surreal moment for us.And so we said we were going to fight this, if need be, all the way to the Supreme Court. It's been a very stressful, intense 25 days.
But we're really, really grateful for the Supreme Court to both step in, hear our arguments, and grant the state of the lower court ruling.I can't tell you how important that was.
One of the head-scratchers for me, and it was a big win, and all the residents in my neighborhood were very happy to see that you took this to the court and you got such a clear ruling.
There is clear history that the Justice Department reviewed this law and the procedure that Virginia was going to do, and then when you follow it, they object to it.The Biden-Harris Justice Department's behavior is such a head-scratcher.
Any insights that you gained from just being in court with them or having conversations outside of court?
Well, this is what I would, this is what I would say.And a couple of things, you get the point, you get the nail on the head. This is a law that gets put on the book.
It had what's called preclearance by the Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division. At the time, Virginia was considered a Voting Rights Act state. They got preclearance. So the Department of Justice gave the blessing for this law.
Obviously, it is, I mean, it should be obvious, but it is a violation, a felony if you're not a citizen that votes in a US election.
But think about this, to go back a little bit on the way back machine just a couple months ago, when Speaker Johnson was pushing and advancing the SAVE Act, which really, really does clarify the requirements of being a US citizen to vote in a US election.
One of the biggest arguments by the Biden administration and by Senator Schumer and others that they used to defeat the SAVE Act was, this is not necessary, nor is this needed. Each and every state has their own provisions within that state.
to ensure that non-citizens are not on their voting rolls, right? So that was an argument they used of why we didn't need federal legislation.
Then you turn around and in the same Biden administration is suing Virginia for simply following their own law.One of those tools they made reference to that states have to ensure that non-citizens are not on our voting rolls.
So really was astonishing. And again, these are individuals that self-identified as non-citizens. So it was really astonishing moment to see that of all the things going on in the world.
This is what the Department of Justice is deciding to use and expend their resources to do.And so we are grateful.I said this is a rule for the rule of law. This is a win for the rule on it's a win for common sense.
Yeah, no doubt about it.And it was remarkable.Twenty six other state attorneys general joined you, sir.
And in pursuing this, this is an issue that enjoys widespread support in the states, that the ability to keep non-citizens from stealing the right of voting is important to every state, right?
Well, I do said, you know, you noted every single Republican AG joined an amicus to support.I can't speak highly enough of my colleagues. AGs from Kansas to New Hampshire, all over the country that joined.I really want to commend them.
No Democrats though, right?
No Democrats. But it was very rare. It's very rare to get every single Republican AG on board. It maybe happens just once or twice a year oftentimes.
And so I think that also sent, I think, a significant statement to the court of the seriousness that the majority of the states were. were asking the court to take a look at this.
And it really is a markable...I got to tell you, seeing how the legacy media has covered this has been so astonishing, how much they've gotten even the basic facts wrong.
Half the time, they don't even reference that the law is removing non-citizens, right? They just say, Virginia purges, you know, X number of voters.
They say voters. They don't mention the fact that they're non-citizens.And it's not a purge. A purge is if a state official or voter registrar says, you know, anybody with the last name that y'all have is going to be taken off the voter roll.
That's not what it is.These are each case by case basis, people that have self identified as non citizens. They've gone in, they get a driving privilege. They've identified as a non citizen. They then end up on our voting rolls. We communicate with them.
Each individual saying, listen, by the way, you've identified as a self identified as a non citizen. You've ended up on our voting rolls. You have a period of time to correct that if you are indeed a citizen to do so.And so it really is astonishing.
And then in Virginia, we have allowed same day voting registration.
So even if this was you, you're actually a citizen, you click the wrong box, you decide not to open your mail from the Department of Elections, you're allowed to have same day voting registration and register that.
So, so much misinformation that I've seen by the legacy media covering this I found to be remarkable.
Yeah, there's no doubt about it.Even in place I've worked at the AP for 20 years, but even their coverage had me scratching my head sometime over the last few few weeks watching the way they play out.
When you take the fact that not a single Democrat attorney general joined in on this, when you take the fact that the U.S.
Justice Department was trying to keep a state from doing it, and when you take the fact that the Biden administration has declined to provide very basic data to states that would allow them to very quickly clear noncitizens off in a meaningful way and keep the right people on the voter rolls,
Is there a Democratic lean towards wanting to get non-citizens on here?Is there any other way to read this behavior?Or do you think Democrats are trying to lay the groundwork for non-citizens to vote at the federal level?
I can't understand their reasoning.I mean, this idea, it should be controversial that Virginia citizens should be deciding Virginia elections. And I guess it's this mindset that they have that
If you're registered to vote, you should be on our voter rolls on the chance that a small, small handful of individuals could click the wrong box that actually are citizens. My rejoinder to that has always been, we have those safeguards.
As I've described, you check the wrong box, we get that, you go through that process, you ignore your mail, you can still vote that day, register that day and cast a provisional ballot. And so there's multiple safeguards to protect that.
I mean, listen, the right to vote is precious, and it should be easy to vote, hard to cheat. But the great irony is if a non-citizen has voted, what that also has meant is they have now canceled out the vote of an actual citizen.
They have robbed an American citizen of their vote because they've had their vote canceled out by a non-citizen.I don't think that's fair, and I don't think that's right.
and it shows 90% of America.Hardly anything in America is 90% agreement.90% of Americans agree that keeping non-citizens off the roll is the right thing to do.
So, the Democrats are swimming upstream against the tide of American sentiment, which is really, really remarkable. I want to turn to something else that you are on the leading edge of.
You have led many very important things that I think have triggered other states and others to take action. You've been looking at ActBlue for a while. We've had a series of stories in the last week from Congress.
Subpoenas were issued last night to ActBlue over any efforts to
ascertain donors' identities, whether they're following the law on that, and two, whether they've gotten complaints from people who say they didn't make the donation that is in their name or in their email inbox. You were at the front end of this.
In fact, I think you started back in 2023, if I remember.Tell us what triggered your interest and what you think ultimately may come of your investigation of this very large fundraising platform.
Well, this is what I would say. This is an ongoing investigation from my office. This did get put on my radar, several public news reports.
I actually also had some constituents that approached me that said that they were suddenly showing up on their credit card donations by ActBlue. They were lifelong Republicans. They were very, very concerned.
And so this one was a Rubicon on consumer protection. I can't, I'm somewhat limited because this is an ongoing investigation.
What I can't promise you, John, is we are absolutely looking at this is ongoing and when we're ready to make some announcements and break the news.
We'll be going back and hopefully joining you back on your show if you have the invite to explain more.
Yeah, it's very important.I know you take the sanctity and privacy of investigations very seriously. There's an interesting nugget that came out.
It's in a memo that James Comer, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, sent all members of Congress earlier this week that the Treasury Department, so he's been trying to get what are called suspicious activity reports.
These are sort of the money laundering alerts that our banking system has set up.They're required under the Bank Secrecy Act.
The Treasury Department said they're overwhelmed in processing his request because they have already found hundreds of suspicious activity reports flagging transactions associated with ActBlue, and they may need more time.
In fact, they called it the largest in history production of SARS they would ever have to give Congress.
The fact that the Treasury Department has relayed that information, that there is a large body of SARs concerning transactions that are somehow connected to ActBlue, kind of suggests that maybe money laundering or foreign involvement is in there.
Was that one of the suspicions you've been worried about?
Yes, I would say that I have, you know, when you look at this, let me just take this from the 80,000, I don't want to get too specific on ActBlue.I have long worried about what I have seen
with foreign influence overseas, whether via through nonprofits or others, using foreign money to essentially do political advocacy in the United States.
You know, if anybody candidate for either a state or federal office, you are not allowed to accept donations from a foreign national or foreign entity. And so I have been very concerned about that.
Because the reality is that, particularly when it comes to the presidency, their impact on global affairs is obviously enormous. And you would have to be hopelessly naive to think that there aren't foreign entities looking to influence.
And we remember that.Due back to the wayback machine under the Clinton administration, they got in some trouble raising money.
China.Remember the Chinagate?Yeah.
I was actually the lead reporter on that, believing that my stories went to that whole controversy a long time ago.
No controlling legal authority, remember that? And some of the other things that came out, remember that from Al Gore and Buddhist monks that were donating?
And so the foreign influence definitely, they oftentimes will just change their tactics and how they keep the influence. So that is something absolutely I've been gravely concerned about.
Yeah, that's really important. We're going to keep a close eye on that and see what comes of it.I want to turn to one last thing.
We had a fascinating interview with the brand new CEO of Univision, the largest Spanish language television network in America. And he's only been on the job four weeks, but he said, listen, I'm certain already, just from what I've seen,
that Democrats are no longer a reliable Democratic bloc. They've become a free agent group of voters that are going to make choices based on issues.
And in this election, the answers that Republicans like Donald Trump are giving to the issues they're most concerned about has Hispanic trending Republicans way.
This is something you've been saying a long time, but to have the head of Univision say it, I'd like to get your thoughts on maybe what the dynamic is with Hispanic voters and why Republicans are connecting so well with them.
Well, it is so often, I mean, as the Democratic Party gets dominated by upper-educated far-left academics, then it is driving, I think, so many Latino voters away.
I mean, terms like Latinx, I like to say, anybody who uses the term Latinx has never actually spent one day in a Latino community. And the idea, and the reason why they use that term is, you know, Is Spanish everything is everything is gender.
So either Latino or Latina period in the story every everything is almost every kid speak Spanish without about without gendering And so they don't like the fact that they gender people in Spanish or they turn use terms like Latinx.
Well, that may be great at the Harvard Faculty Lounge that is absurd and laughable out in the real world. And then you just to go to the real world practical impact.
First of all, a large number of Latinos have fled and lived under the horrors of socialism. So it's amazing. The people most against socialism are the people that have actually experienced and seen it.
So whether it's Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela, or even Colombians who right next door, they have a huge migrant crisis in Colombia of Venezuelans that have tried to escape the Maduro regime, and they've crossed over in the mountains in Columbia.
So they've also seen firsthand and heard firsthand the horror. So some of it is that. Some of it is just very family-oriented.This kind of far-left, transgendered ideology is such an anaphythe to so many Latino voters.
So you have a lot, some of it's cultural.A lot of it though, handedly, is, I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said, make groceries affordable again, right? And they realized under Biden and Harris, it's harder to live. It's just harder to live.
It's hard to put gas in your car, get groceries, pay rent.I saw this number when President Trump left office, the average household income you needed to be a first time home buyer in America was $74,000.Today, that number is $128,000.
It is harder to just achieve your dreams. So a lot of it is economics.I do think a lot of it is cultural.
And they've seen that the Democratic Party has become very, very dominated by this very left-wing, aggressive, progressive ideology that's so out of place with Latinos and so many Hispanic voters, a lot of them that are small business entrepreneurs, they want to go own their own home.
And I will say this final, and this is something a lot of the media has missed, the number of Latinos, very similar to Irish and Italian Americans, that then go into law enforcement, a Los Angeles Police Department,
Over 50% of their members are Latino. That attack on law enforcement happened back in 2020.There is such pride when your child is wearing the badge. They felt it was attack on their children.I can't tell you the number.
I've seen that in Northern Virginia, talking to officers and other Latinos.Their children go into law enforcement. It's a way for them to confirm they're in the American dream.
And then they saw the law enforcement was being attacked back in 2020, the anti-police. rhetoric, the anti-law enforcement rhetoric, absolutely also had an impact as well.So collectively they see, and I'll end with this.
As I told the New York Times, they called me about this.I said, listen, it used to be both parties talked about the American dream. Now one party walked away from it.They talk about America as this inherently racist, evil country.
Well, if you come in and you come, you realize this is a remarkable country. The Republicans talk about the American dream. The Democratic Party describes America as this almost irretrievable wasteland that cannot be redeemed.
Well, you know how blessed you are. You're ready to go chase that dream. And she could see which party is having that appeal and growing the pie.And I think it's been really remarkable to see the shift.
Yeah, it is an amazing shift. It may very well be a generational tectonic shift of the political plates below America's electoral system. We'll know more on Tuesday, but there's something special and something unique going on at this moment.
And it'll be interesting to see how it plays out in the Tuesday election.Last question, how do you think Tuesday is going to turn out for America?
Just for me, I've always felt that this is a change election and when close to 80% of Americans uh, want change and are not happy with the direction of this country.
I think you're going to, I think you're going to see, uh, you know, my hope is that it's an early night and it's a big win.It could be close.I mean, listen, the, we are closely divided nation. That is true.
But I just have a feeling the American people have seen, uh, what Joe Biden has done and he, he, you know, he campaigned that he'd be a so-called centrist and uniter. He governed as a far left activist.
And they look at Kamala Harris and they think, why in the world did we give her promotion so we can have four more years of what I think is weakness at home and weakness abroad?
So if I was a political scientist, I would be predicting a Trump victory.
Yeah, that seems what all the people I talk to, including Democrats, are starting to resign themselves to that possibility. So it's going to be interesting to see.General Meares, you've created history this week.
Such an important election integrity ruling from the United States Supreme Court.I suspect you have a lot more history up your sleeve with the great work you do in Virginia. But what a great honor to have you on the show today. Thanks for joining us.
Great to be with you.Thank you so much for having me.Thank you much, sir.OK, folks, don't go anywhere. When we come back, We're going to be talking to Steve Moore.
He's going to make sense of that very bad jobs report, a very dark day for Kamala Harris and her economic arguments. The jobs market is way underperformed and there's an imbalance now.Government jobs are growing, private sector jobs are declining.
That is not a healthy economy and Steve Moore will explain that to us in a second right after these commercial messages. But before we do, I've got an idea. Let's have a little coffee break. You know what I'm talking about.Wired Fish Coffee.
It's now the official coffee of Justin News.It became the official coffee of the Salomon household quite a few months ago when I first tasted it.I fell in love with it.
Then when I learned that beyond the taste of the Arabica blend coffee that they make, that this is a company that does good about things I care about.
They take some of their proceeds and they give it back to Christian faith organizations and to conservation because I care about clean water and I care about fishing. I care about hunting.I care about my outdoors at the cabin.
Wired Fish Coffee became personally great to me.We decided to make it the official coffee of the Just The News brand.
And today, you can go to wiredfishcoffee.com and use the promo code JUSTNEWS and you can get all sorts of great stuff, including two different blends of coffee.I call the morning blend or the medium roast blend. That's my favorite.
There's also a dark roast. That is incredible.People have been bragging about that.I'm not a dark roast guy, so I haven't done too much with that. But then there's Incredible Mugs.
There's also an offer where you can buy two bags of your favorite Wired Fish Coffee, a Tumblr made by Yeti, the best Tumblr maker in the world, which has the Just the News logo on it, and a one-year subscription to Just the News, the ad-free version.
We also get a once-a-month meeting with me, a town hall, where I answer your questions. That is also available up there. When you check out, just use the promo code JUSTNEWS to let them know you learned about Wired Fish Coffee from us.
All right, we'll be right back after these messages with The one, the only, Steve Moore. All right, folks, welcome back from the commercial break. The markets were stunned today when the new job reports came out and they significantly underperformed.
Only about 12,000 new jobs in America. All across, people were expecting a six-figure bump, 100,000 or so.
But when you dig deeper into the data, there's even a more troubling trend, which is the Biden-Harris administration is propping up the job markets with a lot of government jobs to hide the fact
that private industry jobs are falling away quicker and quicker under their administration. Here to help me make some sense of it, the smartest economist I've ever met in my life, my good friend, Steve Moore.
Steve, good to have you back on.Steve Moore So, John, great to be with you.And you're one of the smartest media guys I know. But I have to say, you buried the lead on this story.Because the real
The real story is, you know, you said this was a really, really bad report.I mean, this is a lousy report, although I know in the papers they're going to spin this as, you know, just an aberration. But here's the thing.
When you look at the revisions from previous months, you know, we lost 100,000 jobs.So that's number one. That is including the jobs created. in October, minus the jobs that they overestimated from previous months, it's 100,000 lower than we thought.
Second of all, the private sector, the overall job level was 12,000.That is the worst jobs report we have had in three and a half years. The worst jobs report.Couldn't have come at a worse time for Kamala Harris, by the way.
At a very time when the Democrats were crowing about how the economy's back on its feet, we get the worst jobs report. in 40 months.
And then the other part of this is that if you take out government jobs that were created, then the economy actually lost jobs.In other words, the private sector employers contracted
with 100,000 jobs lost in manufacturing, construction, and business services. So it's hard to put any positive spin whatsoever on this report.I think it was a disaster.
I think it'll have some political repercussions when people go to the polls and realize the economy is really slowing down.
And they've been given a story that was far too rosy for this. You know, we've all noticed it when we're in our wallets. It's harder to buy groceries. And we've been told, oh, trust me, it's better than you think.Don't trust your eyes.
But this report really tells us we should have trusted our eyes and our wallet all along. And it's really so compelling.I want to ask about the macroeconomics of this, which is
Joe Biden came in with Kamala Harris saying, I'm going to make big government good for everybody.
And all that big government spending, it seems like it's contracted private innovation, private development, and it's just made us more dependent on government jobs, government funding, government assistance.
At the macro level, do you see that in the data that the big government experiments is actually suffocating the private economy? Unquestionably.
So let me get, you know, we had another data point that came out this week was what the third quarter number for GDP, total output in the economy.
And it was a good number, 2.8%, except when you looked under the headline number, the private sector economy grew by 2.5%, but the government sector, the economy grew by 5% or twice as much.
So John, what I'm telling you and your listeners is we are growing the economy in the exact areas we don't, we want the government to be contracting because we're running a $2 trillion deficit.
So we should be shedding jobs in government and we want to be adding jobs in the private sector. What we're doing under much of, uh, you know, Biden's presidency is exactly the opposite.
And by the way, this doesn't even, I'm talking about the direct government jobs, you know, government direct government hires.
but that doesn't include, for example, when the government gives, you know, hundreds of millions of dollars, uh, for a, uh, you know, green energy plant or something.Well, that's just government spending.
Uh, those are just government jobs because the private sector wouldn't create it without, uh, without government.
And so when you, in other words, what we're getting now is this kind of socialism where all the investment is being driven by politicians, not by entrepreneurs, businessmen, and women.
It's so concerning. It's exactly what I think people fear.
When you add the Beltway Bandits up, the federal government, and then all of the state and local governments that ballooned up because they got so much money with the Inflation Reduction Act, which became the Inflation Augmentation Act.
We've actually created sort of a fake economy because once the government has to dry things up because we don't have the spending capability or the borrowing capability, that economy disappears very quickly. It's sort of an illusion of what we
We've all been thinking, we've seen that these are really important data.Do you think Americans absorb this in a way that's meaningful?
Well, every poll is showing it, John.I mean, you're more the expert on this than I am, but even the latest polls from the last week or two show about two-thirds of Americans think the economy is heading in the wrong direction.
About two-thirds of Americans think the country is headed in the wrong direction.About 60% say their own finances are in trouble. So, uh, yeah, I think Americans feel it.
I mean, I, I laugh when I read, uh, you know, read in the wall street journal this week from one of the reporters saying, wow, this is a great economy. All the signs are up.
There's this kind of confusion by my, my feeling is what you've got in America today is four gigantic bubble, uh, economies.Uh, you've got wall street, you've got, Washington, D.C., which is the political center.
You've got Silicon Valley and you've got Hollywood. And those four, you know, tend to dominate the news and the culture. And yet that's one part of the economy and the rest is everybody else living on Main Street, USA.
And they see the economy in a very, very different way, John, than, you know, people on Wall Street and people in the media and people in government, people in Hollywood. So I think that's what's going on here is that
The people in Hollywood and the people in Silicon Valley can't understand why people are unhappy.
That's right.No, it's such a disconnect.
Because they don't know any of these people.
the elitist and the rest of the country. And they're living two different lives and two different experiences. It's just crazy.Last question for you.
There's a little bit of magician work that Biden-Harris administration did to keep senior citizens in the dark. The Inflation Reduction Act and other legislations made some changes to Medicare that were about to knock Medicare rates way up.
The president has done some temporary subsidies to the pharmaceutical industry to keep it down until the end of the year, early next year.
But Medicare recipients, senior citizens are probably going to get a piece of bad news after the election when they learn that there was a little bit of sleight of hand.
As you look at the Medicare program, are seniors about to get another bad piece of news?
And, you know, a broader point to make on this is that, you know, seniors, citizens, and we have a new report on this that Unleashed Prosperity just came out, which is that seniors have been the biggest losers of all from Biden's inflationary policies because they've lost money.
You know, who is the biggest victim of inflation?Well, it's always people living on a fixed income with lifetime savings. And all of a sudden, their lifetime savings are worth 20% less than they were
you know, when Biden came into office, their 401k plans have been hit and bonds have not done very well either.
So for one, we have, we estimate the average senior citizens lost about $25,000 in their 401ks and other retirement plans because of Biden's policies.
And then you add to that, which you just described, which is they've been robbing money from Medicare, uh, which is only going to accelerate the date when, which, you know, that Medicare runs out of money.Cause I think everyone knows,
both Medicare and Social Security are going to run dry sometime in the next 10 to 12 years.
Yeah, so well put. That report is so important. You're right.Seniors have been the biggest losers and they've been getting a lot of lip service.
But I think particularly when these new premium Medicare Part D premiums hit in a couple of months after the prop up, there's going to be some.
Well, the other thing is, you know, John, sorry to interrupt, but, you know, right now, you know, in the last week of the election, Kamala Harris people running this ad saying Trump is going to cut your Social Security Medicare.
No, no, no, no, no, folks. The person's already cut your Social Security Medicare is is Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, because their policies have really injured the ability for those programs to pay out the benefits.Right.
Yeah.Yeah.They've been they've actually got your wallet.Buying power has gone.If you're a senior, you're buying power has gone way, way down. And it's just remarkable.
And by the way, someone who has worked with Donald Trump now for nine years, I can guarantee you, guarantee you that Donald Trump will not cut Medicare benefits and he will not cut Social Security benefits.
Now, what we will do is we're going to get Elon Musk on the job to find the fraud that people are stealing from those programs. And we're going to hunt those people down when we get the money back.
No, that's going to be a very, very big moment. And I think all of us will benefit from the savings. It's been going on for so long, it's probably going to be like shooting fish in a barrel.
There's just so much fraud in the system and so much duplication.Yeah, you can start just about anywhere you're going to find it, I guess. And well, as always, Steve, you made these very complex subjects. very understandable to all of us.
These are such an important day.I didn't want people to go without understanding the real importance of this jobs report.Great to have you on as always.Thank you, John.Take care. Thanks, my friend. All right, folks, don't go anywhere.
When we come back, we've got one more good one.Joe Kitt, the former Special Operator, Arms Service Forces hero, now running for House District 3 in the Washington state. U.S.
House races, that's the district that had some of those ballots blown up in a ballot box.
Joe Kent's going to bring us up to speed on that, plus how the race is trending particularly after a very consequential debate about a week ago where Joe Kent really shined.Even the media acknowledged that he was the more polished candidate.
We'll have that right after these messages. All right, folks, welcome back from the commercial break. So much of the attention in the media has been on the blue wall in the Midwest and what effect that will have on the presidential race.
And I understand that. The president sees the top of the ticket and those Midwest states are going to be key deciders in that. But when it comes to control of the United States House, the decisions
on the West Coast, often yielded to Democrats because of the California ethos on the West Coast.
Well, those decisions by voters will almost certainly determine control of the United States House and whether the next president has a Republican or a Democratic House.
Our next guest is on the forefront of one of the most closely watched congressional races in all of the country. It's in Washington. It's a nail biter. He almost won last time. He's really introduced himself to his constituency.
He has an incredible record. We all know him because he's been on the show so many times.A special operator, an American hero, now trying to be a representative of the people.Joining us right now, my good friend, Joe Kenton.
Joe, great to have you back on the show. Thanks for having me.Great to be with you. A lot of excitement.I was just talking to the NRCC a couple days ago.
A lot of optimism about your race and then maybe the Alaska race flipping a couple of Democrat seats.Tell us where it stands in your mind. What's your internal polling, what's your gut tell you about what's going to happen in the next week?
You know, I think we're actually in a good spot.I'm cautiously optimistic. We're going to run hard through the tape, of course. But I got really close last time.It was less than a percentage point.
And that was coming out of a really highly divided primary. And we've just had great Republican unity for the last two years. We've really learned a lot of lessons. We're encouraging early voting. So in 22,
Republicans up here, we don't like the mail-in voting, and so our way of protesting that was telling everybody to hold on to their ballots. And we realized that that cost us three... I mean, we started voting here two and a half weeks ago.
We realized that cost us almost a month of ballot collection. And so we've been aggressively working on ballot collection, and that's been to the credit of the state party, the county parties, the grassroots here.
So I think with that, with the Republican unity, with the ballot collection, I think we're in a great spot. But also my Democrat opponent in 22, when I ran against her, she didn't have a record.
So she could say whatever she wanted to, but she's got a record now.And so she's voted for all the inflation, the open border, just everything that the Kamala Harris Biden regime has put on us, she's voted for.
So we've made a real concerted effort to get out there and do what the Democrats can't do, which is talk about issues and just highlight their voting record and articulate our vision for the future. I think we're in a good spot right now.
I think it's going to come down to execution. Can we bring out the, we have about 60,000 low propensity Republican voters that come out every presidential cycle, but boy, they don't participate in the midterms.
So we're out there making sure we get those folks. And that's what I think is going to come down to between now and Tuesday.
Yeah, there was a great debate between you and Murray Perez, who was the rematch from 2022.A lot of praise for your performance.
A lot of people saying you were the more poised debater, and you really wrapped in your military experience to your common sense, your connection to the people. It was a very successful debate.A lot of people thought you won that.
How important is it that a debate like that happens?Right around the time that early voting was starting, you got a really big chance to really show people you against her in a, you know, in a contested environment.
What was that like and how important is it to the discussion you're having now?
i think it's really important because uh... i mean the democrats are doing what they always do and and they're they're bombing the district with you know millions of dollars of ads that really don't say anything other than hate my opponents are really scary bad guy but they don't talk about what their actual policies are so i really appreciated the debates and they were uh... conducted by fairly mainstream uh... media organizations and i thought the questions were actually very very fair and they gave both of us enough time to explain our vision for the future but my my point is simply could not defend
her voting record.Everything was a diversion. But look, when these policies are actually exposed, people just do not react well to them.So I appreciated the debate.I've talked to a lot of people out there.I knock on a lot of doors.
I'm actually heading out the door right now to go do some canvassing. And when I'm out there talking to people, they're like, hey, actually, that debate really changed my mind. You know, it made them do a little bit more research, which is great.
Anytime you can move the discussion away from a 30-second soundbite, I think it's a good thing.
Yeah. No, it's pretty amazing. This third district is, you know, a great bellwether. It's sort of an evenly split district. The polling has Trump up and you tied with Murray Perez.
And the energy all seems – that poll was taken a little bit before the debate. The energy all seems to be towards the Republicans. in the final weeks of this election?Like, people often do.
They finally make up their mind in mid-October that maybe this has the potential to take a lot of races that are close and tip them in the Republicans' favor.
In the last five days, what is the key message that you think the Washington state voters in your district, District 3, are thinking about and that you're answering for them?
I think they're just looking at their daily reality.I mean, the price of gas, the price of groceries, the fact that we have a huge crime epidemic all throughout our community. The fentanyl crisis has really hit our community here very, very hard.
And so when people look at those daily realities and they take a hard look at the politicians who gave us the policies that made this our lives here, I think that they're searching for answers.
They're looking for an alternative people know that we just can't continue down this path. And so my message is just, hey, it's time for a change.Let's restore common sense.
So we're just trying to drive out turnout as much as we possibly can and reach those 60,000 voters that we know. I mean, in presidential cycles, this district goes about R plus four or five.So for us right now, we feel like we've laid out our case.
I'm doing more events so that people can come ask me questions. But right now, for us, everything is execution and voter turnout. So we're just trying to get those low propensity voters and make sure we get their ballots across the finish line.
Ground game. That's how that's how elections are won.And you've been running a great one.I think there's another thing about the debate that you did effectively. And I think also it's a bigger issue.
A lot of these Democrats who want to portray themselves as moderate have been forced to take a lot of tough votes for the Democrats that kind of undercut that moderation or that sense that they're an independent.
How big an issue has that become for Marie Perez and for other moderate Democrats now that seem in some ways to be running from Kamala Harris and Joe Biden in the final weeks of the election?
Yeah.I mean, basically, you saw the debate when Kamala Harris or Joe Biden is mentioned, my opponent does everything short of running out of the room.
I thought she was going to say, I don't know who they are.Who are those guys?It was really kind of awkward.
Yeah.Yeah.No, it is.And I like to just point out that, look, the Democrats have already sunk about $10 million into this district.
And you'd be a fool to think that the Democrats were investing $10 million so they could have an independent go to Congress.Like, no one believes that. And their voting record doesn't reflect that.
I think on the core issues really of the inflation and the border, and the Democrats kind of have some counter-talking points they'll use that don't stand up to any kind of scrutiny.
But what I like to point out to you, especially when people are like, well, she says she's a moderate.I say, look, she voted to put men into your daughter's dressing room in the schools. And don't take my word for that.Look it up.
All the Democrats did.And I think for people who maybe don't follow politics that much,
when they look at that issue, especially just common sense folks or young parents or grandparents, they hear that, and it's almost an automatic conversion because that issue illustrates just how far and off the reservation the Democrats are anymore.
That's just not your grandfather's Democrat Party anymore.
It isn't.And I think a lot of races, I think the post-analysis will show that that issue, men and women's sports, boys and girls' locker rooms, is going to be much more influential than maybe the elitists in the media have been covering it as.
It clearly has changed the race in Wisconsin Senate with Eric Hovde. And I've talked to a lot of House candidates like yourself who say it's actually that common sense delimiter between a Republican and the Democrat on
when people are looking for something very, you know, visceral and close to home.I think it could be a really big one. Now, you've had a couple of fire bombings of ballot boxes, one out in Vancouver, I think, if I remember correctly.
Talk a little bit about the concern just that those sort of things are happening. You don't want any more of that to happen. You want to make sure every person who wanted to vote gets their vote counted.
Did that unnerve people or is it just a side issue and we'll make sure we get the right people to vote still?
Well, unfortunately, it did startle a lot of people.I mean, because obviously it was a pretty deliberate act of terrorism. And now it's come out that it's, you know, there was a note found that says free Gaza and the free Gaza folks. This is Antifa.
It's the same people that burned Portland.Vancouver had some Antifa violence in 2020 as well. And so people are pretty apprehensive because 2020, the violence that happened here, It was very significant. And so people are worried about it.
There has been concerns about mail-in voting in general. So we're encouraging everybody, obviously, if you turn in your ballot in the Vancouver Fishers Landing area, check your ballot status, go to the auditor's office, you can request a new ballot.
But we're really encouraging people, if they have any doubts, they just need to drive their ballot down to the auditor's office. That's as close as you can get. to voting in person here in Washington State.
But I do believe the Clark County sheriffs and the Vancouver Police Department, I think that they're going to step up their security. We've already seen that in the last 48 hours. So there's no, yeah, there's no reason not to trust the system.
But the thing is, this is another reason why we're encouraging early voting. So if something happens to your ballot,
you can check your ballot status, you can do that online, votewhy.gov, and then you've got time to go replace your ballot, fix your ballot, whatever the case may be.So, again, yeah, we don't like the way that we vote here.
We want to get back to in-person voting, but we've got to use every means available to us.
And that check and verify thing is a way to get that extra layer of security about something that feels uncomfortable for people.
Yeah, it is.We had, uh, I lost last election by about 2,600 votes. We had 6,000 ballots that we had to cure, uh, that were rejected. And most of those were game day voters. So probably three quarters of that were Republicans.
And so this is another reason why we tell people like vote early, but then you got to do that second step, which is checking your ballot status.Yeah, I get it.And I understand people are frustrated because it makes voting very complicated.
Um, but we've been, we've been doing everything we can to message that and to educate people.
It's really important. And the whole parties from President Trump on down after the 2022 election, I think Republicans realize that they were basically playing a football game without having a running back or a wide receiver. And it didn't make sense.
And you might not like the rules, but you can't you can't find unarmed or unilaterally disarmed in a battle.
And the difference this year in watching Republicans do ground game and go after low propensity voters, it looks something like what Ronald Reagan did in a very different era in 1980.But you've been on the forefront.
I've just been watching this race for quite some time. And it's really impressive the campaign you won and run.And I also think that debate was one of the great debates for how a House candidate can really separate themselves from Democrats.
You really put the common sense arguments there.I saw people in the audience nodding their heads. You just see people like, that made sense. That common sense thing makes sense.
Last thought as we go into this, there's an interesting evolution of the Democratic Party that
When I was a young kid, you know, I remember them standing alongside the ACLU fighting for the right of Nazis to protest in Schaumburg, a Jewish suburb, not because they thought it was the right thing, but because they knew free speech protected.
And today, Democrats seem to have embraced being the party of the intolerant, that their name callers, their censors, their haters.
And I'm curious if in a state that, you know, has prided itself for many years of having deep roots with the Democratic Party, whether those roots are fraying over this sort of hateful, intolerant sort of tone that not only all Democrats have been taking, but particularly the top of ticket has taken the last couple of weeks with the garbage comment by President Biden and the Nazi fascist comments.
Are maybe people in Washington state traditionally blue, maybe not feeling so good about their party?
I think so.I mean, I've had quite a few people when I'm out doing town halls or on doors, just say, Hey, I appreciate that your, your ads talk about either you or, you know, what you want to fix.
And my opponent is all, it's all personal attacks really. And it's all this nonsense where she says like, you know, Ken's a neo-Nazi and all this other crap, which, you know, it was such a close margin between us last time.
It's like, well, you're calling half the district, the exact same thing. when you call me that.
And so people, I think, are really turned off by the constant negativity, and especially the way the Democrats are personally going after people, and Kamala pivoted to this whole Trump is literally Hitler nonsense again, and then last night Biden got on and called all of us garbage.
I feel like that's actually having the inverse effect.I've had lots of people say to me, like, hey, I've seen so many ads saying that you're literally the worst person in the world.I figure that you must be doing something right.
And so it's just, you know, I think people are really turned off by that. They want to hear real ideas. They want to hear people actually explain who they are and what they believe. They just don't want to hear the constant insults.
I mean, it just really leads folks to believe that whoever is doing the insulting has something to hide.
Yeah. And I think that that's right, the negativity. At a time when people are calling for solutions.I mean, it's clear America has had a tough four years and they just want solutions. They're willing to give everyone a chance if they got an idea.
But the one party has not put a lot of ideas on the table. They've just put a lot of insults and
The other party has been full of ideas, whether it's getting rid of taxes on tips to how you fix the border, the very clear message you gave on fixing the border in your debate. There's a lot of things that can be done quickly.
Your proposals for energy and dealing with the energy crunch and the energy price crunch in the West Coast. You've put a lot of big ideas and I think that's something Americans are craving this election particularly. It's been fun to watch.
It really is.Joe, for people who want to get involved in the last minute, there's still five days left.If they want to donate or get some ground game assistance, see what's the best way to stay in touch with what you're doing.
