In this Step 2 AA session, Wayne reflects on the difficult truth faced by many in recovery: half of the original AA fellowship were atheists or agnostics, and the other half were believers dying in their addiction. Despite their faith or lack of it, none knew how to live a life of faith while caught in the grips of addiction.

Wayne shares his own story of trying to avoid the reality of his addiction, cycling between meth, alcohol, and prison. He talks about the denial that kept him repeating the same behaviors, hoping that drinking instead of using meth would somehow be different. This session challenges participants to reflect on how long they avoided facing the truth about their addiction and the importance of living a life rooted in faith and spiritual principles. Recovery begins when we stop running and face the truth head-on.
