“In Romans 8, it talks about the mind driven by the flesh versus the mind ruled by the spirit. Dr. Jung emphasizes this need for a total transformation—a psychic change—at the end of Chapter 2.”

Wayne explains that this transformation is not something we can achieve on our own. It requires surrendering to a power greater than ourselves, as outlined in the 12 Steps. This psychic change is essential for breaking free from the bondage of self and beginning the journey toward true freedom and sobriety. The Big Book teaches that without this shift in perspective, lasting recovery is nearly impossible.

Through this session, Wayne underscores the importance of accepting that we cannot do it alone and that embracing a new way of thinking—one grounded in spiritual principles—is the key to experiencing the promises of Alcoholics Anonymous. This change is what enables us to move beyond mere abstinence and enter into a life of peace, serenity, and purpose.
