Chief technology officer Mira Murati is leaving OpenAI? As of now, OpenAI has not announced a replacement for Mira Murati as the CTO. OpenAI will share details about the leadership transition in the coming days. Several high-level executives have recently left OpenAI besides Murati. Co-founder John Schulman is gone. Chief scientist Ilya Sutskever is gone. VP of consumer product Peter Deng is gone. Greg Brockman, the company’s president, announced a sabbatical. He’s one of four C-suite executives besides CEO Sam Altman who remain. COO Brad Lightcap, CFO Sarah Friar, and Chief Product Officer Kevin Weil. OpenAI is planning to restructure. It’s currently a “capped” for-profit model. OpenAI will transition into a regular for-profit structure by 2025. This restructuring aims to increase its appeal to investors. This will remove the cap on returns and granting CEO Sam Altman equity in the company. The non-profit entity will retain a minority stake in the new for-profit corporation. OpenAI is currently in talks to raise approximately $6.5 billion in funding. Which would value the company at around $150 billion. OpenAI is seeking to raise $5 billion in debt through a revolving credit facility. The exact number of shares Sam Altman will own in OpenAI? We don’t know yet. He will receive equity for the first time as OpenAI transitions to a for-profit structure.
