This is Matt and Myron, the podcast. This is the countdown to kickoff on ESPN Radio.
It is Canada kickoff here on ESPN Radio presented by Progressive Insurance, Matt Jones, Byron Metcalf.
You know, back in the day on ESPN Radio, I'm talking this is like 2003, Tony Kornheiser's show, when they start streaming online, they'd keep the mic on during the break online.
And you could hear, you could hear the conversations that they were having during the break. And it was, to me, that was as entertaining as the actual show. Myron, we don't do that anymore.
But last segment would have been nice because you would have heard me get mad as I listen to all of you say you would not vote for me, including coach Herm Edwards, who said he would not vote for me.
I literally Herm was speaking to a class at the University of Kentucky this week. And they asked me, what was my favorite part about working with ESPN?And I said, one was my friendship with Myron.
But second, I really like interviewing Herm Edwards every week. And you come in and break my heart by saying you wouldn't vote for me for anything. And Herm, I'm still hurt.
No, I didn't say anything. I made it specifically clear what the title would be, and I said it.
People have personal preferences, that's all.
That's all I said, and we know what I said, so don't try to switch the words.
Don't try to bamboozle him.I'm hurt.
Don't try to bamboozle him.
I just want you to know I'm hurt.
I'm trying to save you. I'm trying to save you.You don't want that job. It's the worst job in America. It is the worst. You don't want that job.
I'm telling you.If they gave you that job. When I'm sitting in my room tonight, staring off, going, why doesn't Herb love me?I love you.No, that's not what it is.I just don't want you to take that job. It's the worst job in America.
We'll get it back on track here.Meyer Metcalf, right before you came on, says that Patrick Mahomes, he was writing him off.He said, he's not the same player. And he's not.The last two years, he hasn't been that good.
Now, I think he's won a Super Bowl. And this year, he's 6-0.What do you say to Mr. Metcalf?
Wait a minute. How can I vote for you if you're not even going to say what I say? That's the problem here, right? He kind of switches the story. That's the problem. What I said to him was, if you're honest about last year, that wasn't the same Mahomes.
He's been, he's not, I'll put it this way, he's not lived up to the expectations he set for only for himself, but also the fans that watch him.We expect this guy to be Superman every year. This is the National Football League.
Now, what he does do is this, in big moments, when it comes to closing games out, He finds a way to win games. He's Ryder 6-0 at the end of the day, right?Bottom line, that's what it is.It's like the great basketball players.
They can't play great every night. It's hard. That's why it's a team game.
If you're down four with two and a half minutes to go and somebody has to drive the field, is there anybody you'd want more than him?
I got him. They know how to win. This team knows how to win. They're playing ugly, guys, and we've watched it.We go, how do they keep winning?Right now, they're the only team that's undefeated.
Yeah. But don't those teams historically, Herm, those teams that kind of stumble into victory, don't they get caught at some point?
Like, don't they get exposed at some point?Eventually, what happens is that, you know, you can't keep living off that because there's teams that are getting... See, during the season, you want to get better. That's the National Football League.
Right about now, when you look at divisions and you look at teams, you go, okay, we're almost halfway through this thing. Are we getting better, or are we staying the same?
The one team, just the eyeball test, if you're watching eyeballs, you just watch them, you didn't know nothing about football, and you watch them from the beginning right now, the best team over there right now, when you watch the eyeball test, is the Baltimore Ravens.
Yeah, no, they are. They've played the best. You said, I think after like week two or three, we were in here talking about teams, and you said, talk to me in four weeks.
You basically were like, after week six or seven, that's when I start to look at them. And I actually think that's proven to be the case. The best teams right now, by record, are Kansas City, Buffalo, Baltimore, Houston,
Detroit, but the one team that's in that list, and you could have predicted all of those before the year, but the one team on that list that's a little different is the Washington Commanders.
Do you think they are in that group or do you think they'll take a step back?
We keep saying that every week, but every time five shows up, they just find another way to win.
And it's kind of fun to watch because no one anticipated this from Washington starting a rookie quarterback, new head coach, new system on offense, defense.
You figure, well, this is a division that either belongs to the Cowboys or the Philadelphia Eagles.
A lot of people had hope for the Giants, but right now, I think they're sitting in a situation where they're not quite for sure who their quarterback is, but that's another conversation.
But Washington, I think, is a team that every time they play and win another game, people keep going, how are they doing this?
I ask that myself, too, because when you look at the numbers sometimes and you look at it on paper, you go, it's amazing what a quarterback can do, isn't it?
I want to go back to Kansas City.I know you and I, Coach, really appreciate NFL history. The 60s, you got the Packers, those great Raiders teams.Into the 70s, the Steelers, the Niners in the 80s.
It goes on and on again about great dynasties we've had in the NFL.None of them have ever won three Super Bowls in a row.Why should we believe that Mahomes, especially in a down year, is going to be the one to change that history?
You know, we want to believe that because we like to see history being made, but it's very tough when you're fighting history. And that's the great thing about sports. There's always a, there's always a, another step you want teams to take, right?
Regardless if you like the Chiefs or not.I mean, they're, they're, they're, they're not, you know, they're playing against history, not 31 other teams, but the history of the league, you just said it.And there's a reason for that, right?
And it goes to show you how difficult it is.And The way they're playing right now, you'd say, well, they can't do it.Well, when they get in the playoffs, let's see, right? We'll see what happens when they get in the playoffs.
Let me ask you a question that I was hearing, heard debated on another show. The three teams right now that are one and six.Yes.Patriots, they have a young quarterback, so they're at least going to go down there.
Then you have Cleveland and you have Carolina, both one and six.Yeah.Let's say you're Dion, you're prime time.Yes.And Shadurah Sanders is potentially the number one pick in the draft. And you look at Charlotte and you look at Cleveland.
The people I was listening to were like, I would say if I was Dion, he ain't playing for either of those franchises.Would you do that if it was your son or would you say, yes, he could make it work in one of those places?
No, I believe in this.I believe in the system is now. We've seen a guy buck the system, right? The Mannings, I mean, you know, they kind of went where they meant, right? But no, I just think, because here's the great part about it.
But don't you worry about that.
Take Carolina specifically.Yeah.With that ownership and everything, like, I mean, You think that's what ruins a guy like Bryce Young?Going to a place like that?
Yeah, I mean, you know, what are you building around the guy, right?I mean, look, let me ask you this.Well, when Jayden went to the Commanders, no one thought the Commanders would be 5-2, by the way.
No, they didn't.And Caleb Williams, I mean, the Bears have had a hard time with their quarterback.Yeah, but the Bears are getting better.
No, but Caleb Williams is playing well, so it worked there. You know, so it's, I mean, poor Troy Aikman, he won one football game. With the Dallas Cowboys.Peyton Manning's first year.
You know, and see some people say, well, you shouldn't play him early. And I'm going, you know, I'm not a big believer in that.I'm a big believer in this. What do your eyeballs tell you when you go to practice every day?Who's the best player? That guy.
Well, why ain't you playing him?Well, he's a rookie.I don't want to get him hurt.I don't want him to get emotionally hurt.Well, then you shouldn't have drafted him. I mean, that's why you drafted him.You worried about that?
You worried about his feelings? Why'd you draft the guy?You can't worry about his feelings!
No!And you know, you gotta protect him.And I go, protect him from what? So Herb, you weren't worried about your players' feelings, Herb?Oh, no.Look, I say, so you're going to protect the quarterback, but you're not going to protect the left tackle?
Yeah, he has feelings. He's got to go play.
And you've got to live with the result of they're going to play bad sometimes. But do they learn from it?
And I just think- Well, Myron, I could tell Herb didn't care about feelings when he said he wouldn't vote for me.Oh, no, no, no.Because I'm trying to save you.
Because I'm trying to save you.Your feelings are OK.Your feelings are OK.Coach, you have a situation, and we were talking about this earlier in the show, where Tua passed all the tests.
He gets to make the decision about whether or not he continues his NFL career. He's made that decision. He's going to go out there today after the three vicious injuries we've seen.
What kind of conversation is that with a guy who is facing that kind of injury where it could jeopardize his career, but you're the coach and you need him.You want him to play his best, but you also know he's risking a lot.
Well, they've probably had this conversation for a month, and eventually the player gets to make his own decision.
Now, offensively, I think what you're going to do early in this game, back to his first game back, Moster's going to be a big part of this offense.I think he's got to touch the ball at least 25 times.I do believe this.
You've got to run a lot of that motion so you can clear the middle of the field for him, so he can throw the ball and get it out of his hand fast.I mean, y'all talking three-step.Five-step drop is a quick five, and the ball's out.
You gotta tell him, you don't do this, I'm pulling you.If you don't get the ball out of your hand, I'm pulling you.If the first read ain't there, you know what, there's a check down, you throw it, don't hold on to the ball.
If I see you hold on to the ball, I'm telling the quarterback this.I see you holding on to the ball, I'm taking you out of the game. You understand what I'm telling you now? And the quarterback's going to nod and say, Coach, I get it.Got it.
Don't try to run.Just throw the ball away, right?Because he should have never put himself in this position. When he was running that day and he got hit, I'm going, what is he doing? Why is he doing this to himself? So we're all nervous.
We want him to get through the game.We want him to get through the season. We want him to have a complete,
NFL career and hopefully he can survive it all but I'm nervous watching it today guys, I seen this man with Trent Green when I was with Kansas City and It was a month later after he finally came out of it.
He decided to retire and So I'm nervous and I hope he gets through it.I'm praying for him.I want him to play good, but I'm nervous
Last question, what are you going to be for Halloween?I feel like you're somebody who would... Trick or treat?Yeah, do you dress up for Halloween? What's a Herm Halloween?
Well, first of all, where we live at now, we don't have any kids in the neighborhood. But when I used to live back home with my mom and them, I'll tell you what, I went and got the biggest candy bars I could get.
And when those kids come knocking on that door, I said, hey, don't just take one, take two. Take three.
Well, that's nice of you.So you don't dress up?
Oh, I don't dress up as nobody.I just dress up as, man, I'm the candy man.Get as much as you want.Take it all.I'm good.I love trick or treat, man.I love those kids when they come in those little costumes. And, you know, especially the little ones.
They're so excited, and they got their little trick or treat bag, and they got their little mask on and stuff. It's like, man, this is really neat, man. That's really sweet.Myron turns the light off and says, get out of here, children.
No, I don't.See, he got a dog. This is why he don't have this. Why he won't get our vote because he he's not being honest about he has the light off and he often goes to the movies on Halloween night.
Trick or treat is second to Christmas. It's second to Christmas.Christmas is second to Christmas.Christmas.Thanksgiving, you mean? I mean, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.Trick-or-treat's better than Thanksgiving.Thanksgiving gets better.
Oh, come on.No, no, no.It's Christmas, and then it's trick-or-treat, and then Thanksgiving's the same old deal.I don't know about that. You eat too much, and then you go back for seconds, and you feel bad the next three days.
When you're trick-or-treat, man, you're on a candy high for about a week.
Yes, exactly.I love the kids. That's exactly right. You can tune in for a football doubleheader tomorrow. The Bucs host the Falcons, followed by the Chiefs of the Raiders.Coverage begins at noon Eastern on ESPN.Raiders might beat the Chiefs, boys.
They might.They've done it before.
They did it last year on Christmas now.
Where are the Raiders? But remember, they made fun of his voice, said he sounded like Kermit. He's coming to pay it back.Thank you very much. Will the Bears play the Commanders, the top two quarterback picks? It's Jaden versus Caleb.

It is Countdown to Kickoff here on ESPN Radio.Matt Jones, Myron Metcalf, you can subscribe. It's a little confusing, because this show is technically called Countdown to Kickoff, but our podcast is called Sunday Mornings with Matt Myron.
So get on your little machine and put Sunday Mornings with Matt Myron. We now have most of the people on this show have subscribed, not all.We still have one person who's holding out, but hopefully we will get them before it's over.
We do have some breaking news. The Indiana Fever have announced on Sunday that the organization is parted ways with head coach Christy Sides.
She was 33 and 47 in the regular season, but last season took the Fever to their first playoff appearance since 2016.
On paper, that franchise had their best season in years, but that's got to be like Caitlyn Clark doesn't want to be coached by her anymore, right?
Yeah, I mean, I think it's probably bigger than Caitlin Clark.I just think it's a situation where they're not going to let anybody mess this up.And I think we're talking about Caitlin Clark. It's not even just the team.
It's probably Nike, all these other people involved who are trying to make sure that they don't ruin the career of the best, most popular player in the league. But the WNBA has fired like seven coaches in the last couple of months, man.
They switch coaches like every few minutes.
All the time.All the time.
Which is odd to me. you know, I mean, why would what you would think you want stability? Here's the thing that surprised me most because so I was in in Europe during the whole WBA season.
Yeah, I didn't follow a lot of the day to day drama like like a lot of people did.I was surprised to learn there's only 10 teams. How are there only 10 teams?
Like I, to me, with the amount of talent in women's basketball, it feels like there should be like 15 or 16 teams by and how are they? They're 10 teams.
Well, I mean, there are more teams coming. There are 12 teams total, 12 teams in the WNBA and more on the way.I mean, the Seattle franchise is coming.I think a few others have been announced.I mean, the league is going to keep growing, but I think
This is like, you know, you remember LeBron had this. You wanted to coach him because of everything that came with that.At the same time, you knew the slightest mistake, you'd be penalized for it.
I think Christie sides, probably in a similar situation, but the reason I say that about the 12 teams is that it does make it to where you teams are stacked with talent.
And I do think it's a lot harder to move up in the WBA than in leagues where the talent is more spread out across the numbers.
For now, I think what's coming, though, is the fact that the players opted out of the CBA.A, you can have a strike. But B, no one's signing long-term deals.
So the WNBA in the next couple of years is going to be really interesting to see what happens, because it'll look a lot more like the NBA in terms of the movement of players across the league.
The Bears and the Commanders play today, 425.Caleb Williams, Jaden Daniels. All right, so right now, based on what you've seen so far, I make you take a quarterback for the next decade.Do you think the draft would go in a different order today?
I wanna ask you as a Bears fan, like as a real Bears fan, forget ESPN radio. You have Jaden Daniels and what you've seen so far.You have Caleb Williams and what you have seen so far.
You get a one-time opportunity to switch quarterbacks right now, but that's it, you can't go back. What are you doing?
I'm still taking Caleb Williams. I think I like what I've seen. You thought you had to say that? No, I don't.I mean, I'm James Daniels, I think is very good.
But I also know that there are times that this view looks different in the moment than it does down the road. There was a few moments people forget where Ryan Leaf looked better than Peyton Manning. Just for a few weeks, right?
And then something happened different.RG3 looked like the best quarterback in decades for a little while. And then all of a sudden, things changed. So I think if you believed before the draft, and I have to assume, I mean, it was pretty much universal.
Everybody thought Caleb Williams was better. And you have to judge his seven games on him, not on what Jaden Daniels has done.So I would still say Caleb Williams.
Now, if we get to the end of the year and Jaden Daniels is 14 and, or, you know, 13 and four, and they're in the play, that's a different conversation. But for right now, I would stick with the plan that I have.
I think both of them have had success so far.
I think it's fair to say that it's too early, but it's already interesting, right?I mean, Caleb Williams is being measured against past Bears quarterbacks. That's not hard. You know what I mean?
That's like, okay, you got to be better than a bunch of guys who were average over the last 30 years or whatever it's been.
But I think if you look at in terms of the skill set in today's NFL, there are some things that Jaden Daniels can do that Caleb Williams can't do at the same time.
He's older. He's also a year and a half older, right?Like there's like, you know, there's a, there's a difference in terms of development that, you know, Jaden Daniels probably should be a little better right now than Caleb Williams.
Caleb Williams, I'm not saying he's, I'm not saying Jaden Daniels is better or going to be the better quarterback, but there are some moments from Jaden Daniels where you've gone, okay, that's a next level dude who has a chance to become a top 10 quarterback.
He does.We haven't seen that yet from Caleb.
We haven't seen those moments yet.
Yeah, but I mean, look what it means to be a top 10 quarterback right now in the NFL.You don't think he has a chance to be as good as Justin Herbert and Dak Prescott?I mean, yeah, of course he does.
I'm not, I'm not, well, I don't know if Dak's top 10, but I'm not, I'm saying we have seen more Jaden Daniels moments where you go, yes, That is what you need to be an elite quarterback in this league.
We've had more moments with him than we have had with Caleb Williams to date. And that's all I'm saying. That doesn't mean he'll be better, but it does mean there have been opportunities to say Jaden Daniels is the guy.
Listen, this is never going to change. It's going to be it's going to be it's going to be Jaden versus Caleb for the rest of their careers no matter what.
No that's what happens with top guys and and one will win and one will lose. You know last year a few weeks in it was pretty clear it was C.J.
Stroud over Bryce Young right like that that that became clear very quickly and that ended up playing itself out.I don't think this situation is like that.I do think the game today though I mean, it's just natural.
When it's over, people are going to make a determination. But I think if you're the Commanders or the Bears, you are happy with where you are with the pick.
at this point, whereas even the Patriots, like he's had some success, Drake May, but I don't know that you can feel good about it yet.I think you still have to wait and see.
There are two franchises right now that have never been in a Super Bowl, but they have a chance this year to make it their year.We will tell you who they are and more with Matt Jones, Myron Metcalf, the Get Off My Porch Halloween Guy on ESPN Radio.

It is Canada kickoff here on ESPN radio today's big day with the launch of the Wonderful Sunday mornings of Matt Myron podcast.People are subscribing left and right.Molly just subscribed, Michael, Scott.Molly, you said?
Yeah, Molly and Michael and Scott. Thanks, Molly.Thank you, Molly.Thank you, Michael.Thank you, Scott.Michael Scott, the office has subscribed. All right, Myron, there are three teams, NFL franchises in history, that have not made the Super Bowl.
Actually, four.Four NFL franchises to never make the Super Bowl. What are they?
To never make the Super Bowl?
Yes.Never made it.Let's say played for a while. There may be some more recent ones, but do you know what they are?
Detroit?Detroit has not, that's correct.Detroit is one of them.Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Texans, obviously.Texans is two.Can you get the other two?Look at this.
I mean, he's doing good, right? Can he get the other two?
The Panthers made it.The Jags did not.
The Jags is three. If you get the fourth, I'm going to give Myron Metcalf a cookie because he would have done something successful.
Okay, so I got Texans, Jags, Lions.
One more, come on, do it for the people in the back.
I'm guessing it's probably a team that expansion.
Cleveland Browns, look at that.
Did somebody tell you that?Is that how you got into the end?
I got the fourth one by cheating a little bit, Rachel.Oh, you looked it up.Gave me an assist. But I got the first three by myself though.
This is why you can't be president.
Two of those teams actually have a shot this year. The Texans and the Lions. The Texans play the Colts today.Texans are looking to start 3-0 in the division for the first time since 2016.
CJ Stroud only had 86 passing yards last week against the Packers, but he's not lost back-to-back games since his first two games of his career. They play the Colts today.
Anthony Richardson, I think they're better off playing Flacco, but do you see any chance for the Colts to pull off an upset?
Maybe there's always a chance.I mean, I think the AFC South is the worst division in the NFL. And I'm not convinced it's close, right?I mean, all those teams, with the exception of Houston, just aren't good, I think.
And the Texans have had their issues, man.I mean, I did that Vikings-Texans game where they just sent constant pressure, and it really rattled CJ Stroud. And the same thing happened last week.
I mean, he was pressured on, I believe, 48% of his dropbacks, you know? And I think what's happened is, with young quarterbacks, Matt, you could have that one great year as a rookie,
But the NFL is so good at scouting, and changing personnel, and adjusting, and finding your weaknesses. And I think you're finding that with CJ Stroud.Teams are just pressuring him and daring him to make something happen.
And for a young quarterback, that's hard.So I think the Texans are good in the AFC South.I don't know if they're a good team. And C.J.Stroud is in a situation where it's like he's got to adjust on the fly.You lose Nico Collins.
There have been a bunch of injuries. And he's being tested in many ways that he couldn't be tested a year ago because no one knew what to expect. But now everybody was ready for him.
And you're seeing what happens for a second year guy in that situation.
Well, can I just say, this is why I'm not ready to say, take Jaden Daniels over Caleb Williams, right?I mean, this is the exact reason why, because things can change.
Now that's not to say to me, or that's not to say that we're not going to see Houston continue to, but look, to get better, but CJ Stroud hasn't had, at least the last few games, the year that he had last year.
And it's because exactly what you said, that's a very good analysis by you, Myron, which is teams adjust. And so the question is, can you adjust to the adjustment? That's sort of what we wait to see.And I don't think we've seen that from Stroud yet.
Now, what about my first point about Anthony Richardson? You know, he has not played well, and last week did not play well. The Colts are competitive.
So is there any part of you that would say our best chance to win this year is Flacco, so let's play him, or do you just have to like go with the guy who you hope to be your future?
Oh, you ain't got to do anything in this NFL.In a league where Bryce Young is on the sidelines, I mean, I know he's come back today because Andy Dalton got hurt, but in a league where you can pull the number one pick, anything's possible.
I don't think there's any evidence that Anthony Richardson is good at football. I just don't see it, not at this level. And I'm not knocking him. That's pretty harsh.I'm not knocking him.
I'm not a big fan either, but you don't think there's any evidence he's good at football? At the NFL level is what I'm saying. As a passer, he's been shaky.Going back to when we saw him in college, right?
As a runner, yes, he's like a locomotive out there, but he's also obviously gotten hurt by putting himself in those vulnerable spots.
We haven't seen moments yet, and I know he's had a lot of injuries, where you've said, this is what you can build on what Anthony Richards said.
And I think he's got another half of a season to really prove that there is something for the Colts to build on.
I think that's why games like today matter so much for him, because he just hasn't done a lot of those next-level things that were so touted when he was in the NFL Combine. You remember, Matt, how they talked about him at the Combine?
Everyone's like, it doesn't matter that he only started like 16, 17 games in college. He has the biggest arm we've ever seen. He's the greatest athletic specimen we've ever seen.So what? I didn't believe any of that.
Can he play football or not?I didn't believe any of that.I don't, you know, you gotta win. And, you know, what is it, the guy, the one guy said, I've won at every level except high school, college, and the pros.Yeah.
Which I thought was one of the great quotes. He didn't really win at any level. Like he wasn't good at florida and the idea that he was just gonna be good at indianapolis Didn't make any sense to me.Now.Let's go to the lions.
They're playing at home 11 and a half point favorite against the titans, uh, they're five and one another win would make their best start through seven games since 1956 That's a long time, 1956.That was before Brothers, wasn't it?
Was that before Brothers, man?
That was a year you were born, so I think it was a great year for America. So, Titans, you know, Will Levis is back.I love him, but I don't know.Is this the Lions winning today, one of the locks of the year?
Yeah, I think so.I mean, again, I had a chance to do Lions-Vikings sideline for ESPN Radio last weekend.I mean, shout out to all the people at ESPN Radio who gave me the opportunity. So I had a chance to watch the Lions up close.
Best team in the NFC, definitely, I think, right now.And then when you watch the way that they operate, the thing about Jared Goff is I don't know that his ceiling is close to that Josh Allen level. He's not that.
But he's one of those dudes where, when he gets into a rhythm, and how consistent he is, man, that offense is tough, man.A mom of St.
Brown, you know, Jameson Williams, obviously, who's missing a couple games for that, I guess, betting investigation, whatever's going on.And then you have running backs, you know, Jameer Gibbs and David Montgomery, like, they can hurt you everywhere.
Now, the big question would be if you get into the playoffs, which they will, now you don't have Aiden Hutchinson, I think you'll feel that a lot more, especially if you get to the Super Bowl.
I agree, but I think in terms of just the best team that we've seen in NFC that has the best chance to challenge Kansas City and win definitely the lines.
Well, their game with the Vikings was, uh, was an eyeopening, right?I mean, the, the way that they, by the way, will Levis is inactive.I'm just told in my ear, he was inactive when he was playing this Mason Rudolph is starting. You know what?
You have to be rude.Okay.That's a, that's a former Kentucky quarterback. do that.
We're already struggling.
We lost at home to Auburn. We don't need that.Wasn't he sick too?Didn't you lose to Auburn and their coach had the flu or something? Can anybody have more drama than Hugh Freeze?
My man coaches from a medical bed at Liberty and last night had to have puke buckets on the sideline in case he got sick.My man has the drama. But back to the Lions.
I think that win last week, to go into Minnesota, beat them the way they did, to me, Myron, that's one of the more impressive wins of the year, along with the fact that Kansas City beats both the Ravens, the Chiefs, and the 49ers, and you still don't think they're good, but you give the Lions all the credit for the win last week against Minnesota.
I think I think obviously Kansas City's record is what it is.But in terms of I think this will be more difficult for Kansas City, like the path to the Super Bowl will be more difficult.Baltimore's better.AFC's harder.
Yes, clearly. And then I think a team like the Lions, which we saw a taste of what they could be.
last year when they made that big move i think this year you're seeing them put it all together man jared golf looks so comfortable it's so hard to rattle him that vikings defense is basically brian flores sending everybody he has people come from the sidelines matt from the crowd and try to get to a quarterback you have to really have some patience to get through that
And Jared Goff handled that in the biggest moments down the stretch of that game. He's got weapons on offense. That defense is pretty good.
And I think Dan Campbell, who I saw as more of like a, you know, that high school football coach in every Disney movie, the motivator, you know, that's kind of how he was viewed.
But you watch what he's doing and this team is really balanced on both sides of the ball. You got to give him credit for that.
So the Lions, I think are at a different level this year compared to what they were in the past few seasons under Dan Campbell and you can see it and if they get a shot, that's going to be a tough team to beat in the Super Bowl as balanced as they are.
Remember Aiden Hutchinson has a chance to come back. in time.
A lot of remembers.I want you, Nick.I just I took a lot of remembers. He said the word remember five times during that. And I just want to make sure we remember all five of them. There were five different remembers in that thing about the lines.
so you were focused on me saying remember when you said remember when you said remember that's just how i talk it's just a lot of things for me to remember i'm just saying i'm trying to help you out myron chelsea is remember is leading two to one right now against newcastle it's 11 minutes left in regulation uh in your british
That's not in El Clasico, that's in the other thing.
El Clasico is in Spain, and it's Barcelona, Real Madrid, and that's this afternoon. That's El Clasico.
What's this thing? What's Newcastle versus Chelsea?
It doesn't have a name.It's just a match in England.They didn't name it.
We're gonna tell you.You better come up with a name.
We are gonna tell you. There are a lot of games that are very high profile today, but then there are games that are not that interesting. but Myron can make every game interesting.
He will tell you why you need to remember to watch all the games of the day. That's next in No Huddle on Countdown to Kickoff.

It is almost Halloween, and it's time to kick off on ESPN Radio. If you haven't seen the video yet, Miles Garrett walks into today's game for the Browns, and he is not only dressed as the Terminator, he has full-on makeup as the Terminator.
That's a lot of work before a game in the morning to get all that makeup on, Myron. You think that's a good thing to do before you play a football game?
No, I just appreciate being locked in, you know, that much on Halloween, like he must be really into it.But how long does it take to get it off? That's my thing.
Like it looks like how early did he have to get up to put it on?I mean, that's a lot of makeup. You guys, if you haven't seen it yet, go online and look up.It's intense. It is very intense.
By the way, if you've missed any of the show today, you can subscribe to the podcast.Sunday mornings of Matt Myron just went up.It's already becoming a huge hit.I just got a text message from the guys at Pardon My Take.
They're worried we're going to pass them maybe by tomorrow on the podcast. So PFT, Big Cat, sorry. We're coming. That's all I'm saying. Now, the World Series is on ESPN Radio.
Catch all the action tomorrow night, 7 Eastern, right here on ESPN Radio and the ESPN app. Now, as you know, not all games are great games.Sometimes the games don't seem very interesting.
But Myron Metcalf will tell you a reason to care about every game that's in No Huddle.
It's time to go around the National Football League.
I'll call the play from the line.Defense will never know what hit them.
Brown-Richmond, 96-double.
All right, you got 30 seconds to explain to me why I should watch these six games that this week seem kind of terrible.Let's get started.Packers, Jaguars. Why should I watch it?
Sorry, I didn't, I didn't set up my thing.Let's try that again. What's the first game?
Why? You should always watch the jazz because obviously Doug Peterson trying to prove that he deserves to keep his job.But the Packers last week actually beat their first team of the year with a winning record.
So as much as we've talked about Green Bay and what they could become with Jordan Love after his record-breaking deal last week was the first time we actually saw them beat a really competitive team.So now the question is they go on the road.
Can they keep some of that momentum going in what looks like the most competitive division? We've seen a long team in the NFC North. So it's a big game for them.
Yeah, I would say I'm watching this game because I think the Jaguars could pull off an upset.I mean, I think the Jaguars played pretty well in their last game in London. This kind of feels like the weird game that the Jaguars win.
I'm still debating back and forth in my head if at the picks here at the end, I'm going to pick them. But I'm going to watch this game because I think it's going to be much more competitive than you think it is.
So I would actually say, give me, I think the Jaguars have a chance to win, which is why I would watch it.What's next?
I warned y'all about Kirk Cousins.I told you Atlanta people, you all got, you know, really excited when you saw some of those big moments. But then last week, you saw what Kirk Cousins can become in his lowest.
So I mean, can he be consistent after the two picks last week, the strip sack that was turned into a touchdown, and now Tampa Bay.I think you watch this game because Baker Mayfield is going to be throwing the dudes from LA Fitness. No, Chris Godwin.
No, Mike Evans.I don't know who he's going to get the ball to but things have certainly changed with the Bucks, but also in that division in NFC South.Anybody can win the division.
So games like this will always matter when you get to the end of the year when it's time to give that birth to the division champ.
Yeah, this is actually a huge game.I mean, if you're just talking about, there's a very good chance one of these two teams is in the playoffs. There's a very good chance that the team that wins this game is the one that gets it.
So even though watching the Falcons play is a little bit like getting a root canal, if you care about the playoffs, this is actually a game that's going to matter quite a bit.So I think you gotta watch it.
Plus, Liam Cohen's gonna be a head coach soon, the OC at the Buccaneers.I think you wanna see the guy call the plays.Who's next?
Why are we watching this one, Myron?
Well, Kyler Murray is definitely carrying this Cardinals team, but you're watching for Tua.And I don't know.
It feels weird, honestly, to know that we are watching it for Tua's comeback, but that every time he drops back, we're going to wonder, is this the moment where another major injury happens?Like, I don't know how else to describe it, man.
It's unfortunate. But we're all watching because we hope Tua makes it through a game.A lot of us feel like he shouldn't be out there. And that's why we'll pay attention.
You're watching it for Tua.I mean, that's for better or worse. That's why you're watching it.It's going to make. Makes people queasy, but he's also a great player. So that's why you're watching.
And that's how we're watching probably the rest of the year.Hopefully, he stays safe.Kyler versus Tua, though, is a good matchup just in general as two quarterbacks. What's next?
Am I watching for Anthony Richardson?
Yeah, I think in part, I mean, both guys, I mean, there's some doubt that's set in.Obviously, C.J.Stroud's on a different level, but throws for under 100 yards against the Packers.
First, second time that's happened to him, but the first time that's happened to him in a complete game.I mean, it happened early in his career, but he didn't play the full game. And then Anthony Richardson, I think, is still trying to show that
He's a dude who can play in this league at a high level, which we haven't seen yet.We really haven't seen that throughout his entire football career.
This is a big moment on the road against the Texans, but I think most people are watching because CJ Stride is going to have to do more if you want us to believe that Houston can be a spoiler in the AFC playoff picture.
Nick, could you go to ESPN Bet for a second and see if this is available? Is there a bet I can make somewhere during this game, Anthony Richardson gets benched for Joe Flacco? Is that a bet that's on there?
Yeah, I think it's right at the top of the page.
I am going to take that bet, because the Colts can be competitive in this game if Flacco plays on the road in that environment.Myron, write this down.
I think you're going to see a benching at some point during the game and a switch to Flacco, so they have a chance to win it.
That'd be amazing.I like that bet.It's possible.And if that happens, that's a bad sign.A very bad sign.What's next?
There you go, a little Justin Herbert versus, what is it, Spencer Rattler. What do you got today?
Yeah, I mean, well, A, does Dennis Allen get out of there with his job, right?Because things are going south for him.I think you saw Justin Herbert finally get comfortable.
I think in this offense under Harbaugh, yes, it was in a loss to the Cardinals. But at the same time, he threw for 349 yards. And you just wonder if this is going to be the Justin Herbert we see going forward under a new coach.
So, to me, we talk about him as if he's one of the guys that can play at an elite level. The wins haven't backed that, despite the numbers validating that idea, but I think he'll have a big game today.
Yeah, I think this is going to be a wrap.I think the Chargers are starting to play well.I think they're going to come out and win this game handily, and then everybody's going to say, hey, they're back.
I just don't think the Saints with Rattler have a shot in games like this. It's unfortunate, because I think there's the makings there of a good team, but not with a rookie like Rattler in charge. And finally, what's next?
I don't know.Bryce Young is back. Can you talk me into this one?I don't know if you can.
Good luck.Bryce Young is back.I mean, with Andy Dalton, I guess it was the car accident. He's not playing. But, I mean, you watch it because Bo Nicks might be the future for the Broncos.Last week, you know, the run game got better.
Bo Nicks was better as a result.Sean Payton may have something here in Bo Nicks. So you're going to watch every game to see.So I think this is another opportunity for Bo Nicks to say, I'm the franchise quarterback you've been looking for.
I don't know. You believe that?Or was that just your sales pitch?
It's not.It's a possibility.It's a possibility.
Are you excited to watch Bo Nix play? You're like, man, I can't stop my Bo Nix fixation.
He's better than people thought he would be.I think that's valid.
Well, I didn't think he'd be very good, so maybe you're right. We'll see if Bryce Young has anything left after having been bitched.Coming up, the Bengals are starting to heat up.I told Myron, don't give up on them yet.But is it too late?
Can they get the Eagles today? That's next, right here on ESPN Radio.
Hey, it's your resident Super Bowl champ Chris Kennedy.Coming up Monday, Russell Wilson is back, and Daniel Jones continues to struggle, but which player is actually closer to being benched? It's on Sportsman, like 6 a.m.
Eastern, right here on ESPN Radio, ESPN2, and ESPNU.
