You are listening to Episode 197 of the Remind Yourself Podcast. Welcome to the Remind Yourself Podcast, the podcast for physician moms just like you who want to ditch mom guilt, stop yelling, and start enjoying their lives today.
00:00:21 Speaker_00
I'm your host, Michelle Chestovich, certified life coach, family physician, and mom of four. If you want to overcome overwhelm for once and for all, this is the place for you. Hello, Mama Docs, and welcome back.
00:00:39 Speaker_00
I hope you're having a most wonderful week. I know that it can be a very busy time of year and things can feel very overwhelming and we can feel very frazzled in our mind.
00:00:50 Speaker_00
And so I wanted to come on today and let you know that feeling so overwhelmed and stressed is optional. And I say this from the kindest, most loving place. Having been in a land of overwhelm for many, many years as a young physician mom,
00:01:07 Speaker_00
I know that it is common for many of us, but I also want to let you know that it doesn't need to be so hard. Now, I get it.
00:01:15 Speaker_00
We can't just erase all of the to-dos from your list and make life, everybody around you behave and have everything just be simple. I get it that there is no sort of magic in this world.
00:01:28 Speaker_00
But I do want to let you know that you have a power within you that you've just not yet learned how to use that does help you feel much more in control of your life.
00:01:40 Speaker_00
If you've been listening for a while, you've listened to episodes and tips, and you've probably started applying things to your life. and noticing slight improvement.
00:01:49 Speaker_00
And then you think, maybe I should take the next step and become more deliberate about this work to make my life less overwhelming. But life gets busy and it gets put on the back burner. I totally get it. I've been there.
00:02:04 Speaker_00
And I speak to so many women physicians who think someday I'm going to really dig in and do this work and get back on top of things. And I will just invite you to know that someday could be now.
00:02:19 Speaker_00
The doors to my StressRx group coaching program are open, and I just want to invite you to consider whether or not this may be right for you.
00:02:28 Speaker_00
What I want to let you know is that if you struggle with time, you don't have enough time to get all the things done, if you are working a lot at night and weekends, and you certainly can't find the magical hours for you during the week, this is a program that's going to help you tremendously.
00:02:46 Speaker_00
I have three core pillars in the StressRx program, and it's time management, stress reduction, and finding some balance in our lives. Now, of course, we coach on all the things.
00:02:58 Speaker_00
If you have a family member who's driving you crazy, if you're having difficulty with communications, all of those things come into play, and you can get improvement in so many different areas.
00:03:08 Speaker_00
And yet, many of the problems that people come to me with are under these umbrellas. So if you feel that you don't have enough time in your life, this will help you.
00:03:20 Speaker_00
We do a time audit, we come up with our values and our priorities, and we learn to get things done faster so you actually have time in the evenings and on the weekends.
00:03:33 Speaker_00
I truly believe that if you're not on call, you deserve to have your evenings and your weekends free. As far as stress reduction, again, I don't have a magic wand to make life very simple for you.
00:03:44 Speaker_00
And yet I teach you very simple tools that can help lower your stress, even in the middle of a crazy workday, even in the OR when things aren't going right.
00:03:54 Speaker_00
There are ways that you can lower your stress level, which then gets you back in control, helps your brain get back online, and you feel so much better.
00:04:03 Speaker_00
And this, my friends, is not only important for you, but it's something that you'll be able to share with your patients because, as you probably well know, 80% of the complaints people bring in to us as physicians is stress-related.
00:04:18 Speaker_00
So if you learn ways to lower the stress in your own life, you're going to be able to share these tools with others. And this is going to be the ripple effect to other colleagues, to your family, to your children.
00:04:30 Speaker_00
Nothing makes me happier than as a mama to see my kids doing things that I know are helping them relieve stress. Because life does have stress in it, so we need to learn to deal with it.
00:04:42 Speaker_00
Unmitigated stress is very dangerous for our physical and our mental health. So if you feel like you're drowning, if you feel you're a stress ball and are running through your days feeling frazzled, know that StressRx could be the solution for you.
00:04:56 Speaker_00
Amongst other things, right? Like this is not the end-all be-all, and yet it's a sign that perhaps you need a little more help. Not because you're broken, not because you're not smart enough to figure it out, but because it's hard.
00:05:07 Speaker_00
When we think, oh, I need to read another book, I need to start meditation, I need to do all these things, it's very difficult. I love StressRx because I make it simple for you and there's accountability.
00:05:17 Speaker_00
It's a group of women physicians that come together weekly for 12 weeks.
00:05:22 Speaker_00
We learn these tools, we practice them, we come back and share with one another what's working, what's not working, and we continue to coach and make progress towards the results that we desire. Okay? So you are not the problem.
00:05:36 Speaker_00
The system is broken, we deal with a lot of stress, and no one's taught us how to deal with all of this. As physicians, typically we've just put our head down, gotten up earlier and worked harder.
00:05:46 Speaker_00
And that's contributing to further exhaustion and overwhelm. I can help you, my friends. The final thing that we do in StressRx group coaching is figure out some balance. Most of us don't even know when our workday ends.
00:06:02 Speaker_00
And if that's you, because work bleeds into the evening and bleeds into the early morning and the next day and there's always work to do, it's so exhausting. And you deserve to have a break. You deserve to know when your day ends. Now I get it.
00:06:17 Speaker_00
We don't punch in and out. This is not a nine-to-five job. And yet, you deserve to know when your day ends so your brain can take a break. I love to help you create a plan for you.
00:06:30 Speaker_00
I also like to help simplify so that when we come home, it's not overwhelming, it's not super stressful. Part of the balance is that we often feel like we're jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
00:06:43 Speaker_00
coming from a crazy day at work to a crazy evening at home. It can be more simple than that. I love helping take control of that to-do list, helping come up with basic systems to make our weeks run smoother, to lower the stress all around.
00:06:57 Speaker_00
And oh, by the way, why don't we find some time for us and create some joy? Think back to what we used to love to do as a kiddo and maybe do more of that. Now, I know if you're feeling really stressed and overwhelmed, that sounds very far-fetched.
00:07:11 Speaker_00
Don't worry about that. You don't need to worry about that right now. What we need to do is help you get back time, help you lower the stress, and help you find more balance in your life.
00:07:21 Speaker_00
And that is exactly the work that I do with physician women in StressRx group coaching. Registration is currently open and it closes on midnight Sunday, December 15th. So you've got a few more days to click on the link in the show notes and register.
00:07:38 Speaker_00
And or if you have further questions tonight, I'm hosting a Q&A. It is now Thursday, the 12th of December, and I'm going to be hosting a Q&A at 7 p.m. Central. I invite you to come and get your questions answered.
00:07:52 Speaker_00
If that doesn't work to you or you'd rather speak to me one-on-one, send me an email and or click on the link in the show notes and sign up for a free consult in the next few days. I'm here to answer your questions.
00:08:04 Speaker_00
I want to make sure that this is right for you. I don't want you signing up for something that isn't going to help you. Okay? One question that people often have is, can I use my educational funds? And yes, you may.
00:08:17 Speaker_00
I have partnered with Learner Champions so you can earn reflective credits for the work that you do, and that translates into AMA credits. So yes, the answer is you can use your educational funds.
00:08:29 Speaker_00
I have more information about that if you're interested. Another question I often get is, how much time is this going to take? It is an hour and a half per week. You show up for the class.
00:08:42 Speaker_00
If you want to do a little bit of supplemental work outside, that may be an additional 30 minutes.
00:08:47 Speaker_00
Time is the number one concern that people have when they're considering joining this program, and I will tell you is that you will for sure gain back time.
00:08:56 Speaker_00
I've not worked yet with one person who has not gained back hours in their week, and this becomes a very sacred time of the week, and they're learning, hey, I can take time for me, and it's benefiting me at work and at home.
00:09:09 Speaker_00
Life can go from feeling overwhelmed to feeling much more calm and content in a matter of weeks. So consider this an invitation to you to start the new year feeling less overwhelmed with more time for you.
00:09:26 Speaker_00
You deserve to have your nights and weekends back. You deserve to not feel like you're in stress-fill all of the time. let me help you. Click on the link in the show notes, sign up for a consultation, or join the Q&A tonight.
00:09:40 Speaker_00
And or if this sounds like it's right for you, click on the link in the show notes and grab your seat. I keep the group small, space is limited, and there are a few seats remaining. So again, the registration closes on Sunday, 12-15 at midnight.
00:09:57 Speaker_00
We begin in January. 2025 can be the year that you feel back in control. Let's go, my friends. Until next week, peace and love to all of you. Are you ready to take control of your life and put these tools into action? I'm here to help.
