Shownotes: In episode 472 astrologers Chris Brennan and Austin Coppock discuss the year ahead astrology forecast for 2025, and make predictions about the planetary alignments in
the coming year! 2025 will be a big year of change, with all of the outer planets moving into new zodiac signs this year, marking the beginning of a new era. This will be the first year that Pluto spends entirely in Aquarius, and then in March the planet Neptune will move into Aries, followed shortly by Saturn also entering Aries in May, Jupiter ingressing into Cancer in June, and finally Uranus beginning a long transit through Gemini in July. This year also sees Venus and Mars retrograde periods, the last of the eclipses in Aries, and finally the beginning of a new series of eclipses in Virgo and Pisces. We spend the first two hours giving a big picture overview of all of the major outer planet shifts in 2025, and then in the second half we transition into giving a more chronological breakdown of the astrology of the next year. This episode was recorded on October 6, 2024 with a group of patrons of The Astrology Podcast who signed up through my page on Patreon, and it was recorded while I was still researching the 4th house episodes. The webinar ended up being really helpful in getting to some core meanings of the 4th house, and each person shared some really interesting stories about the unique way the 4th house showed up in their life. Shownotes: In episode 469 astrologers Chris Brennan and Austin Coppock discuss the astrological forecast for December 2024, and talk about news and events from the past
month through the lens of astrology. For the first 90 minutes of the episode we talk about news that happened since our last forecast, starting with the outcome of the 2024 US presidential election, and then in the second half of the episode we do a deep dive into the astrology of December. The astrology of December opens with the second half of a troublesome Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius, plus a contentious Mars retrograde period beginning in Leo. The middle of the month features some favorable aspects, such as Mercury stationing direct, and an auspicious trine between Venus and Jupiter. December ends with major tensions building, as Mars and Pluto move into a difficult opposition, which will culminate at the very beginning of January. Duration: 07:08:19
Shownotes: In episode 468 astrologers Chris Brennan and Nick Dagan Best discuss what it means when the ruler of the 4th house is placed in each
of the 12 houses in a birth chart. This is the second episode in a two-part series on the meaning of the fourth house in astrology. In the previous episode we talked about the significations of the 4th house, and looked at examples of the ruler of the Ascendant in the 4th. In this episode we continue that research by going systematically through each of the 12 houses and looking at examples to understand what it means when the ruler of the 4th house is in different houses in the chart. When the ruler of the 4th house is located in different houses it will connect the 4th house with other areas of the person's life. The 4th house is primarily associated with home, family, parents, private life, and end of life, and these are the main topics that we focus on in this episode. In this episode we experimented with incorporating some listener submissions into the episode, to complement the celebrity examples. news and events since our last forecast, and then in the second hour we transition into talking about the forecast for November. This month opens with a tense Mars-Pluto opposition that coincides with an optimistic Venus-Jupiter opposition, and then by later in the month there is a surprising Full Moon in Taurus conjunct Uranus. Saturn slows down and stations direct in the watery sign of Pisces, while Pluto departs from Capricorn and makes it final ingress into futuristic Aquarius where it will stay for the next two decades. By the end of the month Mercury slows down and stations retrograde while squaring a misleading Neptune, and this configuration leads us into the dramatic Mars retrograde station in Leo that happens in early December. of the show talking about news stories since our last forecast, and then at 57 minutes we jump into the forecast for October. The major highlight of the month is the solar eclipse that happens in the signs of Libra on October 2, which is the last in a series of eclipses in that sign that began one year ago. The middle of the month features a lot of tense aspects between Mars and the inner planets, which the benefic planets Venus and Jupiter are attempting to offset with helpful configurations. By late in the month the Mars-Pluto opposition begins to loom large, and we start to get sense for what that tough aspect will look like over the next several months, since Mars will station retrograde and oppose Pluto three times. Shownotes: In episode 463 astrologer Kirk Little joins the podcast for an in-depth discussion about the life and work of Geoffrey Cornelius, and his argument that
astrology is a form of divination. Geoffrey passed away recently on August 27, and so Kirk and I got together to talk about his work and the impact of his thinking on our understanding of astrology. One of the central themes of our discussion is Geoffrey's groundbreaking thesis that astrology should be understood as a form of divination rather than a science based on causal relationships. Kirk and I explore how this perspective shifts the way we approach astrology, emphasizing that the symbols and signs in a chart serve as omens rather than direct influences. This re-framing opens up a richer understanding of how astrology can provide insights into our lives. We also delve into the importance of symbolic thinking in astrology, particularly how it relates to the interpretation of horoscopes. Kirk shares how Geoffrey's work encourages us to think about astrology in a more fluid and dynamic way, where the meanings of symbols can evolve and resonate differently for each individual. This approach not only enhances our practice but also deepens our connection to the cosmos and the messages it conveys. Throughout our conversation, it becomes clear that Geoffrey Cornelius was not just an astrologer but a philosopher who continuously sought to understand the deeper truths of astrology. Kirk highlights how Geoffrey's commitment to exploring the philosophical underpinnings of astrology remains an unfinished journey, inspiring us to keep questioning and expanding our understanding of this ancient practice. His work encourages us to engage with astrology not just as a tool for prediction but as a profound means of self-discovery and reflection. Kirk is the author of a paper on Geoffrey's book The Moment of Astrology: Kirk Little, "Defining the Moment: Geoffrey Cornelius and the Development of the Divinatory Perspective" (2006) He hosts a website on astrology and divination that contains a number of other resources related to the subject: https://cosmocritic.com

This is a followup to episode 461 of the podcast where we talked about the meaning of the 2nd house in astrology and focused on looking at example charts of celebrities, and in this episode the goal was to interview some listeners and ask them about their placements directly. Originally this was intended to just be an episode talking about the 2nd house, but as we went through the examples the 3rd house kept coming up and we kept being pulled in that direction, so I decided to just go with it and see where it took us. It ended up being really fruitful, and we ended up learning a lot about the 2nd and 3rd houses in the process, and each person shared some really interesting and powerful stories that helped to make the meaning of those houses really come alive. Shownotes: In episode 461 astrologers Chris Brennan and Leisa Schaim do an in-depth exploration of the meaning of the second house in astrology, and explain what
it signifies in a birth chart by looking at dozens of celebrity examples. In traditional astrology the second house is associated with the material world, and encompasses topics such as money, possessions, livelihood, and financial stability. It represents the descent into the material realm, because the second house is the sign that follows the rising sign, and in the whole sign house system it is the first sign after the Ascendant that is fully submerged under the earth. We open the episode by talking about the significations of the 2nd house in general, and then move into looking at example charts starting with planets in the 2nd house, followed by looking at the ruler of the Ascendant in the 2nd house, and then finally looking at the rulers of the houses in association with the second house. Shownotes: In episode 460 astrologers Chris Brennan and Austin Coppock look ahead at the astrological forecast for September 2024. We cover news and events in the
first hour, and then at 01:03:00 we start looking at September's astrology. The astrology of September features the beginning of eclipse season, with a lunar eclipse in Pisces taking place in the middle of the month, followed by a solar eclipse in Libra in early October. Early in the month Mars moves into the sign of Cancer, which is important because it will return to this sign after turning retrograde in early November, and thus September marks the beginning of an extremely long Mars transit that will last until the middle of next year. Also notable this month is Pluto returning to Capricorn for its final transit through this sign, with it eventually departing for Aquarius for good in November. The most positive alignment this month is a Venus-Jupiter trine in Libra and Gemini that goes exact around September 14 This episode is available in both audio and video versions below. Shownotes: In episode 457 astrologers Chris Brennan and Austin Coppock look ahead at the astrological forecast for August 2024. We spend the first hour of the
show discussing recent news and events surrounding the Mars-Uranus conjunction over the past few weeks, and then in the second hour we jump into looking at the astrology of August. The first part of the month is dominated by Mercury going retrograde in Virgo and Leo, and then in the second week Mars moves into a tens conjunction with Jupiter as well as a square with Saturn. The biggest outer planet alignment of the month is Jupiter squaring Saturn in the third week, and around that time Venus in Virgo swings in to square Mars and Jupiter and then oppose Saturn. By the end of the month Mercury finishes its retrograde period and stations direct, while Venus departs from Virgo and moves into its home sign of Libra. Shownotes: In episode 455 astrologer Chris Brennan does live chart readings with listeners to talk about the meaning of 1st house placements in their birth chart.
This workshop was recorded a few weeks ago in preparation for the longer episode on the 1st house in astrology that was released last week, titled The First House in Astrology: Planets in the Rising Sign. The purpose of the livestream was to gain a deeper understanding about what the first house means by interviewing some people with prominent 1st house placements about their life. During the course of the livestream we discuss some examples of people with planets in the first house, those who have the ruler of the Ascendant in different houses, and also some people who had major transits through the first house. I also put out a call for examples from Twitter/X, and read a number of examples that were sent in live at different points. By the end of the episode we ended up learning a lot about what the first house means by hearing about the lived experience of people with prominent placements involving that house in their chart. This episode is available in both audio and video versions below. worked out in light of the attempted assassination of former President Trump. During the course of this I play some clips from past episodes of The Astrology Podcast over the past year where we talked about the Mars-Uranus conjunction and predicted the types of events we expected to align with it, and then providing some commentary in between clips. The purpose is to study and understand the process of making our predictions about the conjunction, and what we can learn from it in retrospect. Shownotes: In episode 454 astrologers Chris Brennan and Nick Dagan Best explain the meaning of the first house in astrology, and explore its significations by looking
at different planets in the rising sign and Ascendant. We open the episode by talking about the general meaning of the first house, and then we transition into discussing each of the planets in the 1st house, starting with the Moon and then working our way through the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. We also spend some time talking about the ruler of the Ascendant in the houses, the rulers of other houses in the 1st house, and planets transiting the first house. This is the start of a new series where we will do a deep dive into the significations of each of the 12 houses of the birth chart, explaining what each house means and showing how different placements in that house have manifested in the lives of individuals. Astronomically the 1st house is the rising sign in the whole sign house system, which is the zodiac sign that was rising over the eastern horizon at the moment a person was born. The first house is associated with the degree of the Ascendant, which represents the dividing line between sky and earth, and acts as a particularly powerful and personal point within the first house. Here are some of the significations of the first house: Self Body Health Appearance Spirit Character Helm Life direction The which arises from you This episode is meant to act as a foundation for the rest of the houses series, which will be made over the course of the next year. Shownotes: In episode 452 astrologer Chris Brennan hosts a live chart reading session with listeners exploring how Jupiter's transit through Taurus manifested in their lives based
on the house it activated in their birth charts. The premise of the discussion is that since Jupiter just recently completed its one year transit through Taurus, I asked listeners to send in stories about how that transit played out in their lives, especially in terms of which of the twelve houses it went through in their chart. This was recorded as a live webinar with patrons of The Astrology Podcast, and during the course of the webinar a number of patrons joined me on video to share their birth chart and talk about their Jupiter transit experience. I also read a number of written listener submissions different astrologers who shared their experiences of positive and negative events that coincided with that transit. The purpose of this workshop is that by looking at what Jupiter transits have meant when they went through different houses for people over the past year, you can then take that information and project it out into the future as you try to anticipate what the transit of Jupiter in Gemini will mean for you over the next year. how recent transits have impacted their lives. This was an impromptu livestream done with patrons of The Astrology Podcast who signed up for the livestream tier through our page on Patreon. Before the livestream I put out a call asking for people who had a good example of one of the transits we talked about in the recent forecast episodes, such as the eclipses in Aries and Libra, the Mars-Saturn conjunction in Pisces, or the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Taurus. Then during the course of the livestream people people joined me on camera and shared their stories of recent transits, and we talked about their charts and lives for 5-10 minutes each. This ended up being a really fun and interesting session, and it set a nice template for other chart reading sessions in the future. Gemini, Jupiter trine Pluto, Venus cazimi, Mars square Pluto, and Saturn stationing with Neptune. In June a stellium of 4 planets transit through Gemini in the first half of the month, and Jupiter trines Pluto in Aquarius, which should expand and accelerate technological developments related to communications, artificial intelligence, and travel. Venus plunges into the heart of the Sun around the same time early in the month, which marks the end of one synodic cycle for Venus and the beginning of another, marking a new epoch for relationships, equality, and the position of women in society in general. Mars moves into Taurus mid-month, where it immediately forms a tense square with Pluto in Aquarius, raising issues related to the use and abuse of power, going overboard to achieve one’s ends, and dealing with dangers. Late in the month Saturn slows down and stations retrograde in Pisces while conjoining Neptune, which will on the one hand in Pisces intensify ongoing themes surrounding dangers and fears that arise in connection with water, while with Neptune we will an intensification of the blurring between what is real versus what is not and the struggle to distinguish between the two. The lunations this month are a new Moon in Gemini on June 6, followed by a full Moon in Capricorn on June 21. This episode is available in both audio and video versions below. Penelope just translated book 21 of Morin’s work from Latin, which is the most important book of Astrologia Gallica, where he outlines his unique approach to chart synthesis. Penelope became so excited about Morin's work after being exposed to it in the 2000's through the work of Robert Corre that she actually learned Latin specifically in order to translate Morin's text. During the course of the episode we talk about Morin's life and work, and then we also get into his techniques and discuss what makes his approach interesting and different when compared to some of his contemporaries. Along the way we talk about his birth chart and personality, and use his chart a few times to demonstrate his technical approach, which he does several times in his work. It ended up being a fascinating discussion, introducing an important but often overlooked astrologer who was the last great court astrologer in France before the decline of astrology in the 17th century. Early Modern England, which documents the rise and fall of astrology in the 17th century. Originally published in 1989, the book offers a detailed analysis of the role and perception of astrology in 17th-century England, a period that saw both the peak and the subsequent decline of astrology in the public sphere. Patrick shares insights from his PhD research at University College London, which formed the basis of his book. He discussed the socio-political dynamics of the era, particularly how the English Civil War influenced astrological practices and the lives of astrologers like William Lilly. Nicholas Campion, known for his comprehensive two-volume "A History of Western Astrology," contributed to the conversation by discussing the academic and historical context in which Patrick's book was first published and its impact on the field. We also delved into the broader implications of the historical treatment of astrology, discussing how historical narratives have shifted from outright dismissal of astrology to a more nuanced understanding of its role in historical contexts. Both Patrick and Nick emphasize the importance of viewing astrology through the lens of the cultural and political milieu of its time, rather than simply through modern scientific critiques. The episode also touches on the challenges faced by astrologers during politically turbulent times, and how part of what contributed to the decline of astrology in the 17th century was that it became associated with political views that fell out of favor. Patrick's book was recently republished by the Sophia Centre Press, and you can order it here: Prophecy and Power: Astrology in Early Modern England This episode is available in both audio and video versions below. they have coincided with in history. Jupiter and Uranus form a conjunction in the sky every 14 years, and since this year the two aligned on April 20, I thought it would be good to look back to see what types of events occurred around the time of these conjunctions in the past. Richard dedicated several chapters of his 2006 book Cosmos and Psyche to exploring Jupiter-Uranus alignments in history, and he showed that they often coincide with periods sudden advancements in technology, scientific breakthroughs, and political revolutions. In the first part of the episode we talk about the meanings of Jupiter, Uranus, and their conjunctions, and then in the second half we get into talking about what happened under specific alignments. Some of the events we cover include the Apollo 11 Moon landing, the American and French revolutions, and the discoveries of Kepler and Galileo. Shownotes: In episode 443 historian of ancient astrology and magic Kristin Mathis and astrologer Drew Levanti join me to talk about an ancient Greek mystical tradition
known as Orphism, and how it influenced ancient astrology. Orphism is an ancient Greek mystery cult founded by a legendary figure named Orpheus, who is said to have been a poet, musician, and mystical figure. It is a mystery religion because members of the Orphic cult had to be initiated, and were sworn to secrecy with oaths. The Orphics believed the soul was immortal and subject to reincarnation, and part of the goal of becoming initiated into the mysteries was to help ensure a better life in the future. There was an emphasis on remembering one’s divine origin, and the use of poetry and music as ways of accessing the divine. The study of this topic is important in terms of ancient astrology because Orpheus is listed as one of the legendary founders of Hellenistic astrology by Firmicus Maternus, and there are traces of Orphic influence in astrological texts by figures like Valens and Critodemus. Kristin and Drew's work focuses in particular on the Orphic Hymns, and during the course of the episode we read some excerpts from some of Kristin's translations of the hymns for the planets and the stars, which invoke the deities associated with those celestial bodies. one house to be in another house in a birth chart. The rulers of the houses is an ancient and important element of birth chart delineation, but it is often overlooked in modern times. It is more of an intermediate level technique, because it involves combining different basic concepts surrounding the fourfold system of planets, signs, aspects, and houses. Understanding the rulers of the houses is crucial for chart synthesis, because it is through this technique that you start to see how the basic concepts work together, as well as how different parts of the chart are connected. In the first part of this episode we discuss how to interpret what it means when the ruler of one house is in another, such as for example when the ruler of the 4th house is in the 9th house, and then later we talk about how to time the activation of the rulers of the houses using the annual profections time-lord technique. In the first hour of the show we talk about some news and events that have happened since our last forecast, especially those surrounding the recent lunar eclipse in Libra, and then over the next two hours we do a deep dive into the astrology of April. Shownotes: In episode 440 astrologers Chris Brennan and Sam Ogden discuss the Antikythera Mechanism, which is a complex mechanical device that was recovered from an ancient
shipwreck, and how it may have been used for astrology. The Antikythera Mechanism was discovered in the year 1901 by a group of sponge divers who found an ancient shipwreck near a Greek island named Antikythera. They had found a Greek merchant ship that sank around the year 60 BCE, and divers were able to recover a number of ancient statues, pottery, as well as a corroded mechanical device with lots of gears. Over the past century a series of researchers have slowly reconstructed the device, and recently advanced X-ray scans have allowed scholars to look inside to see how it worked. We now know that it was a complex astronomical device that depicted the movements of the cosmos, and it was also a sort of mechanical calculator or computer that could compute positions of the planets in the past or future, predict when eclipses would occur, and more. The discovery of the Antikythera Mechanism is important because it is far more advanced than what was previously thought possible in terms of technology around the 1st century BCE, and similar devices were not reinvented in Europe until after 13th century. For our purposes as astrologers the most interesting piece is how the Antikythera Mechanism ties in with the history of ancient astrology, and that there is in fact some evidence the device was used for astrological purposes, as well as that there was at least one astrologer who is said to have owned a similar device. In this episode we situate the device within the context of the history of astrology, talk about its possible astrological uses, and also discuss how the mechanism may helps us to reconstruct the origins of Hellenistic astrology as a result of the planetary order depicted on the device. over the past few years. The Saturn return occurs when the planet Saturn returns back to the natal sign of the zodiac it was in when you were born, and for people who were born with Saturn in Aquarius it returned to that sign between March 2020 through March 2023. In the first part of the episode we review some basic concepts about how to interpret Saturn returns, talk about how Kirah and Jo's Saturn return in Aquarius went, and then look at some celebrity charts that were in the news who recently completed their Saturn return. Then in the second half of the show we go through some Saturn return stories that were sent in by listeners of the podcast, and discuss how the events in their lives matched up with their chart placements. Shownotes: In episode 436 astrologer Demetra George joins me to discuss the origins of the myths associated with the planets in astrology, and how the Greek
gods were assigned to the planets by the philosopher Plato and his students in the 4th century BCE. Early in the Greek tradition the planets either didn't have names or were given descriptive names that matched their appearance, and it wasn't until later that they were given the names of gods. It wasn’t until the time of the philosopher Plato and his students in the 4th century BCE that we see that Greek authors begin to give the planets specific names based on the gods of Greek religion and mythology ( i.e. Hermes/Mercury, Aphrodite/Venus, Ares/Mars, Zeus/Jupiter, Kronos/Saturn). The names first appear in the works of philosophers surrounding Plato's Academy in Athens: Plato, Philip of Opus, Eudoxus of Cnidus, and Aristotle. The full set of names seems to first appear in a philosophical text called the Epinomis, which is thought to have been written by Plato's student Philip of Opus. The names appear to have been chosen deliberately partially based on matching them to the older names that the Mesopotamian astrologers had given the planets in their pantheon (e.g. the god Hermes was assigned to the planet Mercury because Hermes was the Greek god of writing, and this matches the god the Mesopotamians assigned to Mercury which was called Nabu who was also a god of writing). Our goal with this episode was to talk about this process of naming the planets after the gods, compare the Mesopotamian and Greek myths for the planets, and discuss the impact this had on astrology. We spend the first 52 minutes setting up the problem and talking about the historical context and the issues involved, and then for the next hour and a half we go through and compare the Mesopotamian and Greek myths for each of the planets to see the ways in which they are consistent or inconsistent with each other. Finally after that we have a 30 minute segment drawing some conclusions and wrapping things up. In some ways this episode acts as the third in a trilogy of episodes I've done over the past month in exploring the impact of Platonism on astrology, with the Lots episode being the first and the Proclus episode the second, and in this one we take things even further by tracing things right back to Plato and his students in the 4th century BCE. The episode is important then because it addresses some very core issues about what do the planets mean in astrology and how did those meanings develop, and it takes us back to the very roots of western astrology and helps us to get another step closer to understanding where this system came from and how it first came together. integrated astrology and theurgy with Platonism. José is an astrologer from Mexico City who wrote a PhD dissertation on Proclus in 2015. We met at an astrology conference in 2010, and have been talking about doing an episode on Proclus for years now. After last month's episode on the Lots where I touched on Plato, the Myth of Er, and the concept of the guardian daimon, I thought it would be a great time to expand on some of those points by talking to José about Proclus and expanding the discussion of Platonism to include the Timaeus and other Platonic metaphysics. During the course of the episode we talk about Proclus and how he used astrology together with theurgy as a tool for working with the gods and invoking them in his daily life, and we ended up touching on a bunch of other topics in the process, including: Plato's creation myth called the Timaeus, and how it posits that the universe is a living creature and god that possesses a soul and intelligence, and how some later astrologers may have been influenced by this and shared a similar conceptualization of the cosmos. How Plato's conceptualization of reincarnation in the Timaeus and the Myth of Er influenced later astrologers and philosophers such as Proclus. The Platonic idea of fate being a law that is conditional, and allows for choice. The role of the daimon in Proclus and other Platonists, and the question of whether it is an internal or external entity that guides the native to fulfill their destiny. Proclus' birth chart that is preserved in the biography his student Marinus wrote for him, as well as how his student says that eclipses occurred around the time of Proclus' death. How the integration of Platonic metaphysics with astrology is part of what led to its downfall once the Roman Empire became Christian, and how some of the Platonic notions about daimons or the cosmos being alive caused conflict with Christian theology. And many other topics. You can find out more about José on his website and Facebook page: http://capulus.com.mx

Duration: 04:02:13
Shownotes: In episode 433 astrologers Chris Brennan and Kira Ryberg give an introduction to the the mathematical points in astrology known as lots or Arabic parts,
focusing on the two most important lots called the Lot of Fortune and the Lot of Spirit. During the course of the episode we explore the history, philosophy, and calculations behind lots, and also analyze some example charts to help bring the concept to life. Here are some key points we discuss in the episode: Introduction to Lots/Arabic Parts: We start by defining lots as mathematical points that mark zodiacal signs with specific topics, similar to how houses in astrology work. Historical Origins: The lots originated as an alternative method to assign significations to the houses, with the Lot of Fortune being the oldest and most widespread. Calculating Lots: We emphasize the importance of understanding the geometric nature of lot calculations, which involve measuring distances between celestial bodies and the Ascendant. Philosophical Underpinnings: The concept of lots is deeply rooted in ancient practices of cleromancy, and we discuss the philosophical dialogue of Plato's "Myth of Ur" to better understand the underlying concepts of fate, chance, and the role of a guardian spirit or daimon. Lot of Fortune vs. Lot of Spirit: We distinguish between the Lot of Fortune, which is associated with the body and material circumstances, and the Lot of Spirit, which is linked to the soul, intellect, and actions. Personal Significance: Lots are highly personal points that offer a unique lens on an individual's chart, revealing aspects of personality and decision-making processes that might not be evident through other astrological factors. Throughout the episode, we stress the significance of lots in providing a nuanced and enriched understanding of an astrological chart. By combining historical context, philosophical insights, and practical examples, we aim to equip listeners with the knowledge to appreciate and utilize lots in their astrological practice. Shownotes: In episode 431 astrologer Chris Brennan presents a set of year ahead horoscopes and astrology forecasts for all twelve signs of the zodiac for the
entire year of 2024. Timestamps for each sign are available on the podcast website. This is meant to take some of the general transits that we will talk about in our big year ahead forecast and personalize them, by discussing them within the context of each sign. I would recommend listening to the zodiac sign that matches your rising sign, although you can also listen to your Sun and Moon signs as well. These horoscopes were originally made for YouTube and do contain some visuals, so I would recommend watching the video version if you can. Lindsey has made a special study of how the archetypes associated with each sign manifest very specific ways in the themes expressed in different musical eras, while Camille shows how the Saturn return of musicians often coincides with a very distinctive era in their individual discography. Shownotes: Episode 427 features a conversation between astrologers Madeline DeCotes and Chris Brennan about astrology and death, where we discuss the relevance of astrology in understanding
and dealing with issues surrounding mortality, as well as related topics such as how astrologers cope with grief and loss. We open by addressing the question of whether astrology can speak to the topic of death, and talk about some of the different ways that it can, both by looking at a person's birth chart and the charts of people who are close to them. Eventually the conversation delves into the complexities of interpreting astrological indicators of death, as well as the need for caution, sensitivity, and ethics when discussing such topics. The episode is meant to provide a broad exploration of the topic of astrology and mortality, highlighting the ways in which astrology can offer insights into the experience of death and the grieving process, and this lays a foundation for doing more detailed treatments of specific subtopics in future episodes. Shownotes: In episode 426 astrologer Madeline DeCotes joins Chris in the studio for a wide-ranging discussion about astrology that covers eclipses, fate vs. free will, and
the future of astrological research. We open the episode by discussing the intense past month of astrology with eclipses and world events, the significance of eclipses in ancient times, and the origins of astrology. We also explore the broader topic of negative transits, and how tragic events can sometimes lead to positive outcomes or new beginnings. The conversation delves into the nature of transits and how their manifestation may not always be immediately obvious, but can have long-lasting effects on our lives. The discussion also touches on the personalized almanacs created by the Honeycomb Collective, which provide individualized astrological information and transits. Madeline shares her background in communication and information design, and how she aims to make astrology more accessible and digestible through visualizations and simplified data. Later we explore the different approaches and traditions in astrology, and the challenges faced by new students in navigating the vast array of resources available. The episode concludes with a thought-provoking discussion on the implications of astrology and its worldview. We explore the idea that the universe is alive and imbued with meaning and symbolism, contrasting it with the modern scientific view of a dead and meaningless universe. We also touch on the tension between fate and free will, and how astrology can provide comfort and guidance in navigating life's challenges. The conversation ends with a glimpse into the future of astrology research and the potential for innovation in studying personal charts and experiences. history, where we share more examples from around the world. We open the episode by reviewing the main discovery that we made in the last episode, which is that 1) important events in history tend to take place around the time of eclipses, and 2) people born near an eclipse tend to have some of the most important events in their lives coincide with eclipses. We also review the operative range or time frame for eclipses, and what we found is that important events tend to take place within around a week of an eclipse, either before or after. After that we review some recent events that coincided with the eclipses that just took place in October 2023, and then move on to talking about eclipses in the history of many different countries around the world, with many examples sent in by listeners of the podcast after the last episode. In this episode we tried to cover more countries and regions that we didn't cover in the last episode, and also add some additional examples we had overlooked in areas we had covered previously. Shownotes: In episode 424 we give an overview of the monthly astrology forecast for November 2023, with astrologers Chris Brennan and Austin Coppock. At the beginning
of the month we are coming off of an intense eclipse season, where a solar eclipse in Libra square Pluto occurred in mid-October, and a lunar eclipse opposite Mercury and Mars is about to happen on October 28. November continues some of the tense themes, with Saturn stationing direct in Pisces at the beginning of the month, then Mars opposing Uranus around the time of the Scorpio New Moon on the 13th, and Mars squaring Saturn around the time of the Gemini Full Moon on the 27th. This month also features a rare Sun-Mars conjunction that goes exact on November 18, which is unique since it is the first exact conjunction in Scorpio in 32 years. On the brighter side, Venus moves into her home sign of Libra on November 8, and forms a sextile with Mercury that goes exact on November 15. We spend the first hour of the episode talking about news and recent events since our last forecast, and then in the second hour we get into the forecast for November. Shownotes: In episode 423, astrologers Nick Dagan Best and Chris Brennan discuss some of the most stunning examples where a solar or lunar eclipse coincided with
a pivotal or momentous event in world history, leading us to unravel the profound implications of eclipses in astrology. The purpose of the episode was to compile a list of the top 20 or so examples of when a major event in history happened to take place within days of a solar or lunar eclipse. By studying what eclipses have coincided with in the past, we can learn a lot about what eclipses actually mean in astrology, and from this we can better understand how they can be used to predict the future. We begin the episode with a brief introduction to the astronomy of eclipses, and then discuss how solar and lunar eclipses were traditionally viewed as negative omens in ancient times, whereas in modern times they tend to be viewed as representing great endings and beginnings. Early on we also discuss how eclipses were viewed in ancient Mesopotamia, and how the astrological tradition itself may have first started to develop as a result of a series of eclipse that coincided with the death of three kings. Following that, we dedicate the remainder of the episode to exploring a curated collection of examples where eclipses align with significant historical turning points. Through this extensive analysis, we illustrate that eclipses have not only been present during numerous pivotal moments in history, but persist in coinciding with crucial inflection points in contemporary global events as well. Shownotes: In episode 422 astrologer Helena Woods joins the podcast to talk about astrocartography, which is the astrology of travel and relocation, and can be used
to find the best places to live. Astrocartography was developed in the 1970s by the astrologer Jim Lewis, and since that time it has become a popular application of the astrology that is used to study how your location in different parts of the world can emphasize different parts of your birth chart. Astrocartography is an extension of relocational astrology, where the birth chart is recalculated for different locations on Earth, and it uses an innovative graphic imaging approach in order to visualize the planetary lines of power across the globe. During the course of the episode we give an introduction to astrocartography and an overview of how it works, and also discuss some chart examples to demonstrate how it can be used in practice. Helena specializes in astrocartography, and has a popular YouTube channel where she talks about it and shares vlogs of her travels around the world.
